If Leeds destroy the income streams for 60-odd other clubs, who will they play against?

Would not surprise me if the idea of Premier league 2 has been mooted to him in the background, its not reared its ugly head for a few seasons. Quite ironic that Leeds have been one of the main recipients of the cash allocated for live TV games and yet the Football League have not said to Murdoch's boys , hang on a minute should you not be showing other teams a bit more.

Surely those suits at the FA /FL didn't forget to put a clause in the TV contract the x number of clubs are shown a minimum of x number of times?

I wish Cellino would just f##k off tbh.

he always moaning and whinging all the time.

I thought he was selling the club but looking like it was PR stunt

I think he's pretty amusing, crackers that chap. You must be able to afford some sort of satisfaction from his actions surely, as he is doing at dutty Leeds!

two players sent off his first match.

Warnock is out dated manager for me.

His record of promotion is 2nd to no one

Also looks like they'll be up for the fight unlike Rovers who seemed to give up on the hour mark yesterday

Need a 100% improvement for Tuesday

Isn't this a similar situation to what the ex Liverpool Chief Exec wanted (I can't remember his name but he is no longer there) when he essentially said that the bigger clubs should get more money because they are bigger clubs and bring more exposure. He actually named Rovers in a derogatory way implying we are a small club who didn't deserve our share of the money.

I stand to be corrected but don't the Spanish and Italian leagues operate in a similar way to Cellini's proposal whereby the clubs pretty much have their own deals and the bigger clubs get far more viewers watching their games globally and are remunerated accordingly.

It's all a bit bizarre yet again from Cellino, Leeds are on tv in the championship the most I'd say, so probably do get the most money from that anyway.

I'm fairly sure it does work like that in Spain, Real and Barca are pretty much on telly every week as well!

The trouble is that this creates a self-fulfilling prophesy and goes against the idea of fair play and open competition - the very things that football was supposed to stand for.

I'll say it again. If only the top 10 clubs in each country are rewarded financially then not only will they remain the top 10 clubs but eventually they will be the only 10 clubs left!

This will be the legacy of the TV companies. All countries will become the SPL.

Yes the Spanish leagues did but the new deal there is based on the Premier League distribution model

The Champions League and the money associated with it has already created a self-serving elite - which is why the Premier League (and the CL) has become such a bore in the past 10 years or so and why the rise of Leicester City this season is so welcome.

The Leeds owner is to be congratulated on taking on the establishment but he's doing it for the wrong reasons - which should be to break the power of the TV companies that are effectively the controlling bodies of football and have made it such an anti-competitive sport.

Rather strange to me when you see clubs screwed by the FFP which stops owners pouring money in supposedly but then you see SKY pouring money into Leeds Utd all of a sudden. They were never going to be threatening the top spots and have been one of the most boring sides in this div for many a year. So why the TV obsession ?

It's all a con and makes it look like the whole thing is being geared just to get the bigger clubs back into the Prem. Thankfully the likes of Bournemouth throw a spanner in the works although the media and bigwigs will always like the idea of the odd fairy tale club. They'd be gutted if us, Bolton and Wigan ever all went back up together.

I don't there is anything sinister about Leeds being shown so much, I saw an article that showed Leeds games attracted higher ratings than anyone else in the league.

They get poor gates at Elland Road, but they do have a very big fanbase throughout all parts of Yorkshire.

his last promotion was with QPR in 2011.

since then he didn't achieved promotion with Leeds.

was sacked as Palace manager after a short spell there and was in the bottom 3 when he left there.

had a short spell at Qpr but wasn't appoint as full time manager there. JFH got the job instead

Depends how you look at it though, yes they are obviously going to attract big viewing figures seeing as it's an area of a million people. The gates they get are crap in terms of % of population but no one ever mentions that although you can never knock their away support. But that in itself is unfair as the tv are just catering for the masses and no doubt get better advertising revenue from broadcasting their games so it's just down to money again.

Oh I don't disagree, for the size of the city and their catchment area, they get terrible gates- 20 or so thousand for a one team city like Leeds?

However, Sky are looking at their bottom line, and I presume they do feel that they get a 'proper' atmosphere when Leeds are shown- especially if they fill the away end.
