JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Rhodes and rochina, like playing with 9 men on a bad day..
thenodrog Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 we must keep hold of Cairney, Conway and Marshall. Especially if Gestede and/or Rhodes go Surely we have to sell everything that isn't nailed down? All of which provided flair from wing positions, not central.. Wrong. Matthews only played right wing but Finney played right across the forward line and Duggy played inside forward for years.
AJW Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 one player who may become available is Fernando Forestieri , he always impressed me when i've seen him and with Watford seemingly looking at more strikers he could become surplus there , he is the type of player capable of playing "in the hole" , a solid midfield 4 , as suggested above , with him playing behind a front man (hopefully Rhodes) would work well . Of course i dont know for certain but i would have thought he would be in the 10k bracket and a deal were he and cash comes our way with Gestede going the other would keep the football league happy
tomphil Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 You're probably right mate, but I am sure I read somewhere his wages were around £15-20k per week. Now if we can add some performance related bonuses into there who knows, as FFP stipulates that and performance related bonus is not inlcuded into the £10k per week max. Long shot I know, but why not at least try, although I suppose this is Blackburn Rovers! If Walters is a no then I know some people will laugh but I would suggest a player I haven't put on there, but who I think would be a good foil for Rhodes - Jon Stead Oh I think they definitely would, Henry won't be in great demand and is a championship player, therefore Prem teams won't want him, so it's either take £10k per week or don't get a club, same with Wilkinson. There was some ranting on a Stoke forum a while back that Walters was on about 50k pwk. Probably wide of the mark but that was the stick being used to beat him with and a few seemed to want rid because of that. Still he was likely to be on a standard Prem contract of north of 30 grand per week and he'll be asking for 20 in the champ I reckon. Jon Stead foil for Rhodes ? Now you are having a giraffe
chaddyrovers Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Looking at players available on frees or loans and who I would say would be available for £10k per week wages and could do a job for Rovers are the following: Goalkeepers - Mark Bunn Defenders - Paul McShane, Andy Wilkinson, Luke Buxton & Chris Baird Midfielders - Dean Hammond, Stephen Quinn, Alejandro Faurlin, John Eustace, Rodolph Austin & Karl Henry Strikers - James Wilson (loan), Jonathan Walters, Nicky Maynard & Paul Gallagher WBA are after Walters. Gallagher signed for Preston. Eustace off to Glasgow Rangers Baird signed for Derby last week. I would look at sign Austin or Hammond. I prefer Dean Hammond tbh. If we could sign Hammond, Ameobi and Maynard I would be very happy. Then maybe look to sign Chris Wood or Sam Gallagher on loan as Gestede's replacement if he does leave
BlooBoy Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 "Surely we have to sell everything that isn't nailed down?"... Well if we want out of the embargo i totally agree . Unless we win promotion??!!! lol Unfortunately thats the position we are in. Its now a uggling act selling players to get us out yet bringing in ones that will keep us in this league.
BlooBoy Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Its ok bouncing names around about free signings/loanees but remember there are a lot of clubs in healthier positions than BRFC. A lot of the "better" options will have clubs with more financial clout and better prospects for the season ahead to choose from, some of the players mentioned are way out of our league im afraid.
onlyonejackwalker Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Poor state of affairs when bog average footballers won't get out of bed for 10k per week. 500k per year? Half a million? Would certainly pay for a new car, hair gel and hippy crack.
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Doubt Jon Walters would come to rovers after being sacked by the club as a youth player..
T J Hooker Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 WBA are after Walters. Gallagher signed for Preston. Eustace off to Glasgow Rangers Baird signed for Derby last week. chaddyrovers Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Yea but to be fair you'd probably be happy if we gave leon best a contract extension this summer Haha. I would pay Leon Best up and get rid of him.
mick Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Just saw that Spurs are looking to loan out Yedlin. He had a great WC for USA. Mentioned on here after WC that he would be a good signing. Competent defender and speed to burn down the flank.

Long shot I know, but why not at least try, although I suppose this is Blackburn Rovers! I don't know where you've picked that up from, but the opposite is true. The actual stipulation is that employee costs must not exceed £600,000 per year. That includes all costs associated with employing someone - wages, bonuses, benefits (eg health insurance), employers national insurance contributions (which are significant for someone earning this sort of money) and if there's an agent's fee involved, that has to come out of the same £600,000. I think a few people need to read this - http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2014/championship-financial-fair-play-season-201314-submissions-2144136.aspx - it'll save a lot of meaningless posting in this thread about players who are completely out of our reach.

Completely agree roverzee. Many of the players mentioned thus far will be on contracts worth far more than £600,000 per year and the Rovers would soon loose out in a bidding war. I suspect we will do the majority of our business at the end of the transfer window when those players not fixed up will be prepared to accept lower terms.

In that article dated 15th December 2014 it states ''The Football League has also confirmed the way in which FFP embargoes will operate for clubs placed under this sanction'' - surely the way in which FFP embargoes would actually operate was known well in advance of that date, otherwise the FL would appear to be making up the rules as it trundles along..............
mustard Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I see Henley as first choice with Nyambe as back up with Lowe and Marshall playing there if needs must. What honestly makes you think that Bowyer would ever even consider Nyambe as a back-up? The last time Bowyer played a 17 year old was Mahoney's cameo vs City. Since then the only youngster he's only played is Lenihan as a true last resort. That was after playing a left back and a centre midfielder in centre half at other points in the season. As for right back, you're kidding yourself if you think Nyambe will be ahead of Marshy and Lowey in the pecking order.
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Keep hearing mention of this yedlin, but if we can only pay £10,000 a week wages, how are we supposed to get in someone like him?
mustard Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Completely agree roverzee. I agree, that will likely be the case Parson. Unfortunately, we don't have any means of attracting players who aren't complete and utter cast-offs. We don't have the financial muscle nor do we have a manager with the pulling power to convince players to join our cause over our mid-table rivals. With an ambitious, talented manager we would have more of a chance of success both in the transfer market and in the league.
Al Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Cairney in my opinion slows us down, especially played centrally. It does not work in the championship imo. Tugay would have been no good in the championship for the same reason. Now I know you know nothing about football. Tugay would have been brilliant in any level of football.
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Now I know you know nothing about football. Tugay would have been brilliant in any level of football. No need to be rude.
Al Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 To that extent I do agree with you, however we know it won't happen, so I just look at it as - what is the point? When was the last time we saw a good game of football from the home side at Ewood Al? We never will whilst we keep this negative manager.
Al Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Rhodes and rochina, like playing with 9 men on a bad day.. Unbelievable!
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Unbelievable! So you disagree then, fair enough. As I see it, football at this level is about high energy, high tempo and pressing opponents when out of possession. There is no room for tap dancers or part timers in the midfield or anywhere else.
