I still think GB will avoid signing a centre mid seeing as we have Evans, he re-signed Will, golden boy is back and there's the young lads just stepped up. He's never done much about that area in recent seasons.

Petshi is a centre midfielder

Really pleased with this signing, only saw him vs Stanley but was one of the better players in the 2nd half. He is absolutely huge, thought he was taller than 6ft 4!

Hopefully he gets his chance and takes it.

Hopefully this will be soon followed with Kim and then midfield is starting to look ok again.

To be fair, it is hard to see that the midfield could look much worse with any given acquisitions than last season given GB's penchant for nullifying TC by shunting him out wide.

Looking forward to seeing Petschi play.

Is that really his position as some are saying he's a winger/striker type, another of the no 10 variety Bowyer likes to collect ?

I think you're confusing him with the other obscure Frenchie we've been linked with.

Interesting that there appears to have been a much bigger clamour for Furman to have been given a deal than there was for Petshi. On the evidence of the Stanley game alone for me Petshi was the only one of the trialists that stood out or brought anything new to our team.

"Combative central midfielder" according to the statement on the Rovers website. One of those is certainly what we need!

Not expecting fireworks from Petshi but I'm looking forward to seeing him in action and hope he actually gets a game, unlike the majority of Bowyer's prior free transfers.

Ah ok cheers.

Really hope he turns out to be up to it but lets all be honest here he's the cheapest option and a player who's likely to play second fiddle to what we have.

For me if we really want to improve the first 11 we need a more established player and I really don't think we'll get that despite who we are supposedly linked to.

Pointless signing, more wage bill, why not wait for some up and coming kids on loan from one of the big premier league teams

I'm not completely au fait with how the transfer window and loan window interact. Do you have to wait to sign people on loan until after the regular window closes? If not, what's the point of a separate loan window?

Well firstly - who's said that Gestede runs the flanks? Not me Mustard. I don't rate Gestede as a footballer.

Secondly, I've been praising Rhodes finishing abilities, while calling out Rhodes weaknesses virtually since we bought him. I've seen nothing that warrants a change of mind there. My point has always been that £8m + huge wages should never have been wasted on one player. it was a massive investment that got us nowhere. So I think you're wrong on both points.

You wouldn't authorise that investment on one player, for a mid table finish would you?

You were going on about a skill a striker apparently needs to possess. Something I disagree with. You're heavily critical of Rhodes, yet not of Gestede and it seemed to imply we had a striker who could run the channels at the club, which we don't. It's fair enough you have a difference of opinion. I just think you're wrong about a lot of your criticisms, or at least unnecessarily harsh.

Personally, I wouldn't have authorised that investment. Then again, I wouldn't have authorised a heck of a lot of the millions wasted during that era. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

However, one way in which we differ is that I am actually glad that such a deal went through. Yes it was a tremendous amount of money to spend but think what would have happened had we not spent it... Take away those 27 goals or whatever it was that Rhodes scored in his first season and where would we have finished, considering the squad that Kean had assembled?

Rhodes was the only decent bit of business done at the time and had he not signed I have no doubt we would have been relegated to League One that season. In spite of Rhodes's goals we finished dangerously close to the relegation spots and had he not signed, I have no confidence that any of the managers who took charge that season would have found those goals elsewhere.

It's all well and good saying "we should have took that money and invested it elsewhere = better results and league standing" but it's not as black and white as that. We had already spent and wasted millions on incompetent players. Had that £8mill not been spent on Rhodes, it would likely have been spent on some other no-mark who would have further assisted in consigning us to relegation. All things considered, it's a damned good job we paid all that money for Rhodes or where would we be now?

My opinion is that right now what Blackburn Rovers needs is a leader or someone with creativity and skills. I can see Furman being a leader, I mean he is an international captain so he is most likely to be the leader that we need. Petshi is to young and thats why I think that even if he has something - he is not going to show it in his first season here.

P.S. I will be so glad if I am wrong and he is a beast and tackle every footballer who is trying to past him
