I have seen the facts and deemed him crap. It's an opinion

I may be clutching at straws but the Palace POTY vote was taken from the attendees at the award ceremony. Which is a bit like doing a straw poll on here and extrapolating that as wider fact.

Does Dann have a young Keeper to blame at Palace?

"Scott Dann has won Crystal Palace's Player of the Year award for the 2014/15 season after gaining the highest amount of votes from those in attendance at the club's Awards Night"

Anyway we digress.............

It says more about the paucity of english talent than that of Scott "6ft standing, 5ft jumping, react after the ball hits the net" Dann Gav.

Its all about opinions Shaun, sadly yours and many other posters in regards to Dann was wrong.

You don't get rave reviews like Dann had last season if you're cr@p. He was very good for the last 12 months of his time here, even though he was doing the work of 2 central defenders as Hanley was useless.

If Dann is good how many champions league teams are looking to recruit him.

Not saying you're alone. It's not all former players for me. I just didn't like the process by which he left and, in particular, the way that Rovers seemed to be short changed on the price. But in the end, if I choose to let my bitterness imprison me, it's my choice LOL!

Really? I think hindsight has shown that we had United's pants down at the price of 16m plus add ons, he hasn't kicked on at all since moving imo.

(Tin hat on) Incidentally it seems we have Jerome Anderson to thank for realising such a good price for him as he stated he renegotiated the buy out clause in Jones's contract up from a miserly 8m to 16m in those few months he was at Brockhall.

It seems as though Josh Morris is very close to completing his move to Bradford City.

Morris is an odd one because even though he is only 23 he seems to have been around the squad for ages. I'm also not clear as to whether or not he is out of contract this summer or whether Bradford are signing him from us. Surely he will be out of contract by now?

Its another squad place freed up and potentially another hole that needs filling.

Seems to be a decent player for League One but I don't think he is at Championship standard.

I wonder whether the club will give him the same treatment as it did to Tom Cairney. Both have been absolute professionals in their time at the club.

We all make mistakes. I thought Hoilett was going onto big things when he left. He's done the square root of f all.

Fans generally speaking, myself included, are not actually that good at telling how players will go on except for the truly obvious talent. It's daft seeing people argue with plain fact just so they can keep the notion that they have a superior knowledge of the game.

No one made a mistake. Hoilett is just massively underachieving. QPR thought enough of him to sign him and this is from wiki.

"In January 2012, Hoilett was named one of the 13 players to watch in 2012 by world football governing body FIFA.[14]

In the 2011–12 season, Hoilett had the most dribbles per game among all Premier League players.[15]"

And do we know at what %age to his manager for developing him? :angry2:

btw Simon, do you ever think that you might be doing him down? Because if he is as bad as you suggest ManUtd would be shipping him out NOT giving him a nice new and long contract and he'd not be one of the first names Roy Hodgson writes out on the England team sheet.

Might be another Alan Judge too.

On holiday at the mo and WiFi is limited. Just logged in to see we have flogged Cairney.

Can't say I'm happy about it to be honest. No idea who's lined up to come in but not a great start to the window.

If Gestede is close to leaving, it's a terrible start.

Old recycled cr@p I'd wager.

The club have said nothing about the Cairney transfer, in the middle of season ticket renewals , so what does that tell us?

They couldn't care less about the fans.

could be, but they look like new quotes which will possibly be in the LT sometime this week. It's the 1st day of pre-season so we might get an interview this week. Lucky us.

Has Kit Symons spoken about Cairney yet? It may be just how clubs work, or rather don't, in the close season.

If we sell Rhodes and Gestede tomorrow then it won't affect the embargo until next season. So why sell now? The only reason I can see would be if we cannot afford their wages. In effect we would be selling them to pay for Best. Great.

They haven't since day one

Other clubs are constantly updating with news kit launches ST promotions etc

Even Wigan had a kit launch on SSN last Friday, their new chairman done a few interviews about his plans for coming year, players speaking etc

What have we had ?

The silence from Ewood is deafening

Maybe you should have waited to see who we might replace him with should he leave. I'll just add a relevant point that you have not mentioned and that is that he is getting on a tad.

No it's fine if you play 4-5-1. We have too many square pegs that we are attempting to put into round holes. 4-4-2 does not suit many of our players with the exception of Jordan Rhodes and that was Bowyer's dilemma once Mrs Desai forbade his move to Hull. One of the finest deep sitting central midfielders in the Prem was Claude Makeleli at Chelsea in their Drogba led 4-5-1 but I'd wager he'd have been a disaster and like a fish out of water at OT playing in a 4-4-2 with two out and out wingers.

To be fair it's not just Rhodes who is best in 4-4-2. Equally very few of our midfielders compliment each other. Williamson hasn't the pace to play alongside Cairney. Lowe or Evans with him doesn't work due to a lack of creativity or forward impetus from those two. As for playing 3 in the middle and one up top who've we now got who could be the creative one? Same problem if trying someone in the hole up top too. What a squad...

Not being an accountant, I am a little unclear how paying Best a huge wodge of cash to go away fits in with the liquidation, owners taking as much cash out as possible, strategy currently underway. Perhaps an insolvency expert with a nose for these things can enlighten?

Quite a lot of clubs doing early business , pretty sure Bowyer said he'd be doing the same as he had 2 list .

One with embargo restrictions and the other without ?

Well as we head into July , plenty gone but no signs of anything arriving .

Lads back in for pre-season , season starts in just over a month and with the likelihood of more outgoings surely we ain't going to leave it until the last minute ?

Bowyer thinks window should shut before season starts , but as a club we are silent from top to bottom

Bowyer not having met the Venkys this summer is a concern. Shocking finances and the threat of our best players leaving have been a worry every summer, but the Venkys opting out of meeting the manager is a new and worrying development.
