davulsukur Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 It's a big season for O'Sullivan and Lenihan. They won't want to be tied down to long contracts if they only get used in a cup game. Logic would dictate that if they hit a certain number of appearances, they get an extended deal. Which means we probably didn't include that particular clause.

I really hope the club have inserted clauses whereby a number of appearances give them longer deals. I would hate to think that if they prove to be real assets they might walk away for nothing and we just get some paltry compensation. However I fully appreciate that this can work both ways.

Yes clauses like that worked well with Gomes etc just resulted in them warming the bench-would result in them definitely not being played.
chaddyrovers Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 You rubbished me last time about Bowyer being heavily influenced by an agent would you like to do it again regarding these two chaddy. In terms of what Jal? Please explain more?
J*B Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 In terms of what Jal? Please explain more? In terms of rubbishing him for suggesting Bowyer is influenced by an agent, Chaddy.
Dunnfc Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 In terms of rubbishing him for suggesting Bowyer is influenced by an agent, Chaddy. Gary Bowyer in tandem with a specific agent! God we've really felt the affect of the sunshine or been sniffing the glue. I'm literally shaking my head in disbelief, sometimes i think some of the fans on here would still moan if we had Jose Mourinho as manager. Behind "Gaz" all the way personally, commendable job so far.
chaddyrovers Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 In terms of rubbishing him for suggesting Bowyer is influenced by an agent, Chaddy. ok J*B. how do you reach that opinion Jal and please explain your reasons for that's view also we have been linked with Kevin Davies http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3146016/Barcelona-step-chase-Paul-Pogba-Manchester-City-PSG-pursue-Juve-star.html the story is at the bottom of this article
JayPeeBee40 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I back bowyer, but the defensive side of our game in particular must improve this coming season. That's as a collective team too, not simply the back 4..
Dunnfc Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 ok J*B. how do you reach that opinion Jal and please explain your reasons for that's view also we have been linked with Kevin Davies http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3146016/Barcelona-step-chase-Paul-Pogba-Manchester-City-PSG-pursue-Juve-star.html the story is at the bottom of this article Top person and professional is Kevin Davies. Believe this if true is more down to him wanting to start his coaching career.
JayPeeBee40 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Top person and professional is Kevin Davies. Believe this if true is more down to him wanting to start his coaching career. Would be a very useful sub option, but is it wise to take up a squad place on a player unlikely to start games?
rebelmswar Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Would be a very useful sub option, but is it wise to take up a squad place on a player unlikely to start games? I would imagine he would be hard pressed to match the volume of contributions Fowler made whilst here.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Top person and professional is Kevin Davies. Believe this if true is more down to him wanting to start his coaching career. Not good enough to play regularly for Preston in League 1 - no thanks

patrickvalery Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Kevin Davies!?!? Jesus H Christ!! That's scary. If alarm bells weren't already ringing they should be if this story has any truth. I realised we were in for a tough summer, but I expected some creative thinking at least. I really would have to question what our scouting network has been up to. We knew this is coming but seemingly have done sod all about it. I say this in jest, but I'd bet even Jerome Anderson would've been capable of finding a way around this. I understand the old school way of thinking is a big man and a little man up top. That's ok. It still has some merit I suppose. But it seems we only want the big guys nowadays. The last two strikers we brought in have been Brown and Varney. Both more accustomed to roughing up the opposition rather than applying the finish. Now it's this lump from Bolton and Kevin Davies. If Rhodes leaves we could be left with a forward line only capable of dragging their knuckles. I appreciate there aren't many class acts available of a free. But is it too much to expect a bit of pace to run the channels? Or a young lad from a PL side on loan? It seems to me its time for the scouting and management team to show some of the heart and desire they demand of the players. We have all the makings of a club limply moping about licking its wounds. Let's get on the bleeding phone and sell the opportunity we can offer young lads breaking through at PL level. As I was reminded in another thread, Madame desai felt champions league qualification was available by loaning players. Well, promotion back to the premier league using the same model should be a breeze. Stop being so defeatist and get some back bone FFS.
JBiz Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Can't pay loan fees or likely the full wages of many in that league bar kids- who will only be let go if first team games are likely. Unfortunately PV- embargo means we are shopping in these kind of windows. Depressing.

Unfortunately PV- embargo means we are shopping in these kind of windows. Depressing. I don't buy that. Not all loans command a fee. If a PL club can blood a young lad in a very competitive division and have £600k of their wage bill slashed in the process, I'm certain some would consider that a good deal. Ok, I accept it means we won't get the top drawer kids. The ones deemed to be very close to first team action at the parent club. But that doesn't mean there isn't a layer of talent beneath that which couldn't flourish with regular football. Worst case scenario is player trading. If we flog Gestede, which we will, then the minimum we should demand is a lad from the buyers on loan buckshee. If we are seriously looking at Kevin Davies then things are considerably worse than I thought.

How about a young free agent in the name of stead http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/barnsley-among-clubs-interested-in-ex-sunderland-striker/?only 32!!!!!!
LewisF Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Kevin Davies? No thanks. Jon Stead? I quite like the sound of that. If he can do the business against Chelsea and Sunderland, he must be able to net a few here.
Mullionvagrant Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Kevin Davies or Craig Davies???? http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/blackburn-rovers-lining-up-deal-to-sign-former-bolton-wanderers-striker/has somebody got the wrong end of the stick with Kevin

Would rather a youngster have his place though
patrickvalery Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Personally I'd have danny Guthrie and Richard Chaplow in for a trial as a minimum. I know the latter was a dingle, but he's a good player at this level.

I know the latter was a dingle, but he's a good player at this level. It wouldn't really bother me that he was a dingle. I'd prefer them not to be but if he's a good enough player then I'd say get him in. We'll need all the good players we can get this season.(I'm sure some of our players have played or had loans spells at a burnley anyway, I know Duffy has)
ABBEY Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 wanting ex dingles?? is this how low this board has become ...once a dingle always a dingle
