Derby continue their Premier League level expenditure with the permanent signing of Tom Ince from Hull to go with Darren Bent, Andy Weimann and soon to be Liam Bridcutt.

I really do wonder how on earth such expenditure can be carried out given they are supposedly limited to £8 million losses in a year. Unless they are making a freakishly big profit then it doesn't make sense.

But hey ho, Derby just another club that can do as they wish to try and get to the Premier League whilst the £150,000 we've spent on Shane Duffy is our only cash outlay in 18 months yet we should be stopped for breaking the rules.

Not a bad week really - Nyambe 3 year deal, Lenihan signs, O'Sullivan likewise, Taylor as well and Conway expresses a desire to stay.

No wonder Mercerman has gone quiet.

Conway a big plus, it's good we can hold on to the yohgsters though based on GB's track record thet have to be wondering if their future lies elsewhere. What id lime ti see is some NEW faces something to add at least a tinge of excitement.

Does Derbys situation not hammer home just how much damage was done the year we went down? Derby may have used some clever tactics to get round some aspects but at the same time it just shows me how much debt was brought onto the club in that 12 month period.

One thing it hammers home is that they get double the attendances that we do.

From Nixon

MIDDLESBROUGH are signing BOLTON defender Alex Baptiste. Minimal fee. Wages off for Bolton.

Really hope that's BS.

But then again we probably can't afford him.

He'll have been on Prem style wages at Bolton as when he signed they threw a few quid about for a while in terms of contracts. Spearing the same which hopefully rules us out unless they loan him back and pay half.

No idea who they are but 2 trialists will be joining Rovers for training over for the next week or so.

Hope they are as good as Songo'o he had a full summer on trial before his contract

Come off it Tom. It's not that cut and dry. For minimum outlay we took a chance on a player who had the attributes to make it. Sadly professional football isn't all about attributes. The bloke didn't develop and didn't make the next step. Maybe that's because Bowyer and his staff didn't extract the best from him. Or maybe it's because the lad lacked the aptitude or attitude to develop. I'm not saying Bowyer deserves impunity. But if we're gonna beat him let's do it with the Alan Judge fiasco not a calculated risk like songo'o.

I don't remember reading a single post on any message board complaining about rovers letting judge go at the time of his move.

July 4th and the first bit of activity... and it could be academy prospects for all we know. Slowest ever summer?

I hope one is a box to box central midfielder who can pass and the other a pacy striker/winger
