Mercer Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Your right but it'll be known by everyone in Football that we are desperate and the player is also desperate to leave. Maybe Shaw will give them a massive discount, he's good at throwing money away. Spot on about the desperation. Think you can ignore the macho rhetoric coming out of Ewood about players not leaving on the cheap. Still think this is about our owners recovering as much cash as they can and as quickly as they can before they bail out.

Gestede would have been out of here long ago if we were simply prepared to let him move for what the buying clubs are prepared to pay as you seem to be claiming.
thenodrog Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 13/14 - 70 points 14/15 - 67 points I've seen more compelling arguments in my time on here. Indeed BUT 3 points seems more than enough of a stick for plenty on here to beat the Manager with.
Mercer Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Gestede would have been out of here long ago if we were simply prepared to let him move for what the buying clubs are prepared to pay as you seem to be claiming. That was when Pune thought we could still go up ! Bowyer was still 'spinning' in January. Think you will find the landscape has changed rather dramatically now.
Athlete Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I thought it was widely accepted that we valued Gestede at 7m and that story referring to 6m + add ons tends to confirm that. There's no indication whatsoever we're prepared to let him go on the cheap. I never said that I meant if someone comes in with ready cash not installments he'll go
chris_h Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 And we can't replace him and it won't help with the embargo until next Summer. Let's all be positive folks! Give it a rest now Ffs
JayPeeBee40 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Correct me if I'm wrong...but what club has put a bid in for him, because I believe the answer is none I'm not up to argue the point, I just think lowe's industry in the middle allows others to play. I'll bet he's much appreciated by his team mates..
Reedy You're A Star Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 He needs to be made to sit and watch videos of Robbie Savage over and over from now til the season starts. He could do the same job, he has the engine. We just need someone next to him who can pass a bit, that he can give it to once he either wins it or forces an error.
tomphil Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Well I personally rate Lowe highly, as do many within the game.. Yeah we can see he's often been in demand............. To be fair it'll be good to have him fit again and in the squad. An excellent utility man but sadly on the other side of the coin he's Bowyers golden boy who he seems determined to build a team around the likes of him and he just isn't good enough for that really. As others have said though the further we slip the better he'll become

Robbie was very good at set pieces, other than that imo he does the same job..
tomphil Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Robbie was very good at set pieces, other than that imo he does the same job.. Sorry but he isn't even a watered down version of Savage at this stage even putting actual footballing ability to one side.

Lowe needs to add goals to his game. He has limited technical ability but he has the energy/fitness to go box to box. I'd be more inclined to get him watching videos of a player like Lampard so he can see how he needs to time his runs into the box. In reailty i guess It's difficult to say who needs to work on what in preparation for the upcoming season though, as we don't know who will be here when the season kicks off or what formation we go with.
tomphil Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 People critisise Lowe as non tackling, but sav was exactly the same, he hustled and harried but never tackled.. Yes but there was method to his madness and he played the game with raw intensity. He could also do a job man marking and he could play a bit. Lowe far more resembles Andrews without the pointing although his fitness and effort are to be admired. He played very well v Cardiff first game last season before he dropped back. That's just my biggest concern with him that Bowyer will accommodate him whatever. If he starts in midfield and plays well then he should stay there.

tomphil Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Lowe is nothing like Andrews at all.. I demand a poll.......
bazza Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 People critisise Lowe as non tackling, but sav was exactly the same, he hustled and harried but never tackled.. At the time Savage was playing for us I thought he was one of the worst "footballers" I'd ever seen in a Rovers shirt. He covered every blade of grass, couldn't put in a good tackle for toffee, always seemed to get yellow carded early and then miraculously never received a second yellow, couldn't make telling passes, couldn't dribble the ball past an opponent. He did a job, though, of making a darn nuisance of himself to the opposition. Re J Lowe, I hope the coaches can get him to pass more forward and to try some shots on goal. Maybe some from the halfway line. If an American lady can do it, surely our Jason can.
LewisF Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 if Lowe is played in midfield I think he could be effective this season, especially if encouraged to get forward by the manager
neophox Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Dean Furman and Reece Wabara are donnys two best players. Too good for league one and both could end up at rovers. As freebies.

West Yorks Rover Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Dean Furman and Reece Wabara are donnys two best players. Too good for league one and both could end up at rovers. As freebies. I was reading some of the DRFC fans boards earlier and not many seem to be that bothered about Furman leaving.
Gav Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Its sickening really if you stop to think about it, we're discussing the merits of possibly taking Doncaster Rovers best 2 players on, and we have 2 players on trial that have been released by Sheffield Wednesday..... How can anyone think that progress can be made under these idiots in Pune. If we went into administration tomorrow we could be in the same market for the same players. Wake up people.
