[Archived] Transfer Talk Part 2

Recommended Posts

What was the reception when Souness signed Stead (the lesser-scoring of the partnership with Pawel Abbott) from then-League-2 Huddersfield?

What was the reaction to the last striker we bought from League One / Huddersfield?

We are not allergic to good news, nor do we crave bad news. More of the former, less if the latter would be very welcome.

Any suggestions??

Souness bought himself leeway by being successful though

So what's to discuss. Cue tumbleweed. In case it's escaped your notice we've done transfers out and there are no transfers in. Nobody knows anything about the people in on trial so we can't really discuss them in an informed way or even in an uninformed way because beyond,"Grief, is that really the best we can do?" in all it's various guises, there is nothing to say. Who is to blame for this situation? The rao family and their entourage of agents, tv pundits and other incompetents/scroungers/gravy train riders. Therefore every thread is a place to discuss them because their effect runs throughout every bit of our rotten to the core club. They are the virus that has infected everything, therefore there is no place where they should not be castigated for their actions or lack of them.

I disagree. I avoid other threads because going on them only results in getting involved in online spats. This thread is for transfer discussion, personally I come here to see if there are any developments and see what people reckon about the few names that have been linked with us. There is no capacity limit to the Bowyer and Venky threads, why not stick to them? Or should the angry mob completely dominate the forum?

A majority of sane people are actually really angry at Venkys and their mouthpiece manager so I suppose you should fully expect them to dominate the forum. Their wrongdoings spill into every discussion, as if it wasn't for Venkys we wouldn't be effected in the transfer window.

Such arrogance. It gets more and more like North Korea on here by the day. I won't contribute any more to the repeat, repeat, repeat white noise on this thread other than to ask that you take it to the Venkys and Bowyer threads.

Actually your post re gumboots was the reason the thread got off track once more. I think also you have the wrong direction from whence the white noise eminates. Try looking in a mirror. Good that you will ignore this as otherwise it self perpetuates.

Back on thread - sign Jon Stead

I personally back venkys. They made some horrendous errors but I genuinely believe they have good intentions. Nobody can seriously believe they have wanted what has happened to happen. Without them I fear rovers would become a very small fry of a club..

Are you on acid

Nzonzi looks set to join Sevilla from Stoke for £7m..

Anybody know if we managed to sneak a sell on fee clause in?

I remember reading not so long ago that we did. But then ago I remember reading not so long ago that we were going to sign Ronaldinho so let's not bank on it eh

You complain about "the angry mob" then immediately personally attack somebody. Strange!

Was talking to an Everton supporting mate about our squad.... How weak we are in midfield etc and he said we should be looking to sign John Lundstram who is a free agent right now. Very highly rated at Everton it seems but couldn't make it there..... I just looked him up and... He's 21, represented England at all age levels upto now... He's also described as a tough tackling midfielder.... Just what we need perhaps?

I know his contract was re-negotiated by Anderson and when sold , we had to pay a whacking chunk of that to Anderson , so I'd be surprised if we didn't get a sell on clause as he rovers didn't get much when he went

I never get personal about fellow posters but this takes the biscuit.

If he's that good then I'm afraid clubs with looser pursestrings will be in for him before we even get a sniff.

Whilst £10k pw is our limit, it has to be remembered that we're unlikely to offer that to many players, as otherwise our wage bill would be no better off despite recent sales. I'd say we're more likely to be offering £3-5k to most prospects, which severly limits the potential talent pool available.

Pace, pace and more pace. That's what we need. King's end product was erratic but if you've got pace to burn then you're always going to be a threat. Now he's gone, we don't have that outlet anymore (on the odd occasion Bowyer played him, anyway). Our midfield is so static, just tippy tappy football without any kind of purpose before launching it up to Rudy. We want someone who's going to stretch defences and latch onto balls over the top.

Time to call it a night I think.
