Pardew has got them playing well and has pace on the counter attack. Very good manager

Seems like every team in the premiership is trying to copy chelsea's counter-attacking style. Hopefully someone has the stones to attack first or it could be a boring season!

Pardew has done a good job at palace as did pulis the season before, looks like they finally have their house in order, if only venkys had even an ounce of footballing acumen that palace have but they don't and never will

Top 8? Palace? No chance.

To be fair the PL isn't exactly brimming with amazing teams. Palace need a couple more defensive reinforcements imo, but if they got those then they wouldn't be far off the quality of Pardew's Newcastle side that finished 5th only four seasons ago.

Signing decent youngsters on loan from Prem clubs is exactly what we should be doing in the circumstances.

Preston getting Keane & other similar deals being done shows it is possible, in spite of Bowyer's excuse that players won't be allowed out until late in the window.

Young , hungry and with some pace is the recipe for success in this league.

Bowyer is a waste of space and due to his inactivity in this window I'm beginning to think he is a lazy sod and becoming disinterested.

I don't think its Bowyers fault Al, I would wager that he's not got the go ahead from the owners to bring anyone in at this stage, the meeting was cancelled to discuss the coming season, i think they're still confused.

Since you only actually need 16 players or possibly since only 14 can play, I suspect he won't get the go ahead till it gets to those levels. They are so dumb about football they probably think that's enough

I think the worry is, as Gav says above, that he hasn't even had a chat to the owners yet this summer about plans. An absolute farce.

We're slow going this summer, no doubt about it. Not a word from anyone about incomings and outgoings, apart from meaningless platitudes mind.

You could be right GAV. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

I'd glady take a 10 point deduction to get rid of the crooks that have destroyed the club, wouldn't you?

They certainly haven't improved it but the haven't yet destroyed it either. Your preferred actions surely would imo.

Just a thought but maybe that lot in Pune are actually happy with the way things are going and saw no need to drag him over there. They just had the finance director over to set the budget safe in the knowledge Bowyer will do as he's told. It is after all the way other clubs are run, albeit with a Chief Exec or Chairman as the go between but we don't have one.

Knowing them they'll summon him a few weeks into the season when he should be on the training ground etc, I think they did last year.

I wouldn't Al, you were right first time. He's got a phone hasn't he? I've got no doubt they have talked, I just believe Bowyer hasn't got that drive in him. You can see that every time he speaks. When did anyone really get the impression that he truly thinks he can get us up? It's all about talking the club and the fans down.

He needs to get his ars* in gear.

I don't consider finishing 9th in the championship last season a total disaster for a club like ours as long as we can keep building on it moving forward..

Things could be much much worse..

I'll echo this BUT the debt is like the Sword of Damocles hanging over our head. If we were debt free and the V's moved on then maybe we could tread water until the ship rights itself. With any significant debt apportioned to the club which Bank would even touch us with a bargepole?

Bowyer said a while ago that the Premiership clubs let their better young players going out later in the loan window - which makes sense as most of the really promising youngsters will be involved in some way in the pre-season friendlies. So is he right to hold on for a better loan player later in the window - or just get in any old player just to keep fans impatience at bay ?

We are in a very difficult market - and personally I would prefer to wait and get better quality - even if unfortunately it means them missing out on pre-season with the club.

Do we not have somebody in charge of recruitment ?

Venkys made some horrific mistakes in the beginning but I do feel they don't want to destroy the club... They just took some bad advice and now do not have the ability to rectify this...

It's the Anderson debacle that has hurt this club (in my eyes) and the situation we are in is his fault.

Anderson talked up Kean and got players in with a slice of the pie going to himself and his cronies and Kean et al accommodated that.

Anderson / Kean were con men, Venkys fell for it. Both are culpably guilty in the demise of BRFC but there is only party who I'd be absolutely delighted to see dead and six feet under.

Poor stuff that. NZonzi and Samba were a couple of pains in the @rse who wanted away, Emerton went home to Australia, Olsson left for the Premiership after relegation, Nelsen wasn't the first player to leave for Spurs and Jones went to Manyoo. You might not agree with the lad's point but the 'Dingle' stuff is unnecessary, unhelpful and hints at a paucity in your arguments.

Most would have stayed and seen their contracts out if the goons hadn't listened to Anderson and binned off Allardyce, Williams, EHD etc etc.

YOU are NOT a mod so shut up !!!

On this occasion he's right though Abbey.

So what's to discuss. Cue tumbleweed. In case it's escaped your notice we've done transfers out and there are no transfers in. Nobody knows anything about the people in on trial so we can't really discuss them in an informed way or even in an uninformed way because beyond,"Grief, is that really the best we can do?" in all it's various guises, there is nothing to say. Who is to blame for this situation? The rao family and their entourage of agents, tv pundits and other incompetents/scroungers/gravy train riders. Therefore every thread is a place to discuss them because their effect runs throughout every bit of our rotten to the core club. They are the virus that has infected everything, therefore there is no place where they should not be castigated for their actions or lack of them.

The clue is in the title.

If there is, it probably goes straight into the back pocket of a certain cockney spiv!

via some bank in Brunei. :glare:

So Dann sold for 1.5 Million?? and Nzonzi 3 Million?? are now worth 7 Million each!!!

Good job we negotiated sell on clauses.

Dann despite wages should never have been sold for the amount he did.

Glad Rovers ar eplaying hard ball for Gestede and not accepting a low offer-lesson seemingly learnt???

Might be a drop in a bucket in the greater scheme of things but I wonder who included those sell on clauses and whether whoever it was will get any credit on here?

Would be interested to know the answer to who negotiated them and the breakdown of who receives payments from the sales. I.e what the club get and agents etc.

He got himself in on at least one of the deals and got his % just like he was after his % in trying to pay off a load of frozen out established pro's during the relegation battle by offering them 80% of their contracts as a pay off. Stuff the fact the club was suffering.

In fact i'll throw this in, how strange was it that coco chose to fall out with N'zonzi then freeze him out as well only for the fat controller to then pop up and play a part in his exit. Inserting sell on clauses is standard practise these days so he deserves no credit whatsoever from anyone !

Transfer center on twitter seems adament the Wednesday are stepping up their interest in marshall

Wednesday fans/Sheff press are obsessed with Marshall after a loan spell for them whilst in league 1, he was outstanding for them, all be it at a lower level.

They’ve got a bit of cash to spend after the takeover so I wouldn’t rule the sale out.

£3M and he is a goner. Hope not that is not the case. He was brilliant last first season half. Also very versatile player. I can live without Cairney as he never really found his position but changing Marshall for a freebie would be too harsh.

Nzonzi to Sevilla is a done deal. Does anyone know Rovers slice over the fee?
