Gav Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Bit agressive If all of the above had happened to me I'd be keeping my. Head down, it's pretty embarrassing You have no idea if I'm being aggressive or not, so lets stick to debating the subject should we.... If you or I had lost over 100m in 5yrs the last thing we or anyone else would do is keep our heads down, with respect thats a bit of a silly remark. We'd be very active in trying to stop losing more money, promoting the business, making the right moves to show we're competent.

Amo Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 What does Best being paid a substantial amount of money for the remainder of his contract tell you about Pune and their intentions? It tells me that they are not going away any time soon. In Mercerman's defence, their actions have never followed any kind of logical sense.
chris_h Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Again spoken as someone who can't watch the team regularly. If it wasn't for Marshalls form first 3rd of last season we'd have been lucky to finish midtable. The one and only real genuine quality player we have aside from the front 2, twice the player TC ever was. Yes inconsistent, most of them are but I doubt we pick up anyone as good as him on a free. He can finish as well so maybe he can do a job up front if needed. I'd set the bar at 4mill for him because that's what he's worth to us in the current climate. To be fair to me I've never set myself up as an authority on players or the the team when I don't see Rovers on a regular basis (unlike some). I readily accept that someone like you has a a distinct advantage in judging a current player. I based my judgement on the little I saw and what the lads I've been to to Ewood with for years have said. But having said that, £4m for Marshall??!! Whoooo that some good @#/? you've been smoking!!!
JBiz Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 In Mercerman's defence, their actions have never followed any kind of logical sense. Yet many still predict their actions!
Amo Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Yet many still predict their actions! We can predict that nothing good will come of them, that's for sure.

Not as good as whatever you've been smoking to think we should happily take 2 million for one of our best players who we can't replace. A view you profess whilst admitting you don't really know how good the guy is, and that the poster you're implying must be drugged up to think his value is double that, knows more than you. Now that is some bizarro logic.
JBiz Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 We can predict that nothing good will come of them, that's for sure. You mean like we can predict they won't hire the manager we need?
Mercer Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 What does Best being paid a substantial amount of money for the remainder of his contract tell you about Pune and their intentions? It tells me that they are not going away any time soon. Not quite. What they don't know at this stage is how much they can raise from sales before the window closes. What they do know is that the settlement of Best will have saved maybe close on £1million when you factor in savings on employers' NI which cost close to 14% on gross (£220k on Best's annual gross) ! Taxation and NI liabilities can be very complex on settlement payments and you need to be a sharp operator in order to minimise these for both employer and employee. Therefore, financially, it would make sense to get Best out, particularly if he was also deemed to be a 'bad apple'. FFs Imy, how long have you been on here? You should know by now that Miseryman does not take logic into account or let it deflect him from his agenda whilst posting his b0ll0x. It is quite clear that you have nothing constructive to add to this MB and your comments are in line with the intellectually vacuous moron you really are.

It's what I'd value him at to us, no one would pay it but TC went for 2.7 before add ons and most scouts would accept Marshall is better. Like I said though value to us in this present climate because we can't spend to replace them. Just like Rudy is worth 7+ to us and Rhodes 12+ but no one is willing to pay that. Anyway I'd suggest it's you smoking the weed sat on the beach with your cork dangling hat and white English legs hanging out. That'd explain why you weren't really bothered about much and fair play to you. Those of us who can get to the matches really want to keep someone who is quite often worth actually watching on his own

Those of us who can get to the matches really want to keep someone who is quite often worth actually watching on his own Bloody hell, what is it with you and others making comments about Australia? Would you say stuff like that if I lived in Jamaica or India? Anyway, I did acknowledge that you see more of Marshall than me but that respectful concession passed you by ( like a Stuart Broad off cutter) never mind. I'm not saying Marshall is a poor player just, that like all players, he has his price. For me ( and others I've spoken to who see a lot of him) anywhere north of say £2.5m would represent very good money and a good deal for the club in its current circumstances.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Think the writing is on the wall. If a player will bring in decent cash then they will be off. I expect Marshall will be offski - not buying all this 'happy where I am stuff', as most players with a modicum of intelligence will trot it out. As for Rodellega, in our circumstances would be a good signing, however, as the Maguire episode illustrates, it seems as though Pune are reluctant to commit to any new signings - that tells you all you need to know. Why do you think it is the owners and not Bowyer ?

You really are a drama queen..... Anyway we'll have to respectfully disagree on Marshalls value (to us at the present time). A few on here who watch him would agree with you but I don't think they/you are looking at the bigger picture. What your suggesting is sell a good player quite cheap to help the finances. What I'm saying is it wouldn't help the embargo or debt to sell for 2 mill ish unless it's part of a dispersal sale. So if he was sold it would have to be a high price to justify it. Something Venkys have until now gone along with. We wait and see...
chaddyrovers Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 For me, our Key players next season are Jordan Rhodes, Ben Marshall, Craig Conway so I wouldn't sell any of them. I have not include Rudy Gestede cos I feel that he will leaving Rovers this summer. if he stays then he is also a key player for us I would be playing Marshall in the number 10 role in 4-2-3-1 behind Rhodes and let him be Rovers playmaker. (provide Gestede leaves)

I'd be absolutely stunned if Rhodes hasn't expressed a desire to move on, especially after the Hull transfer debacle last season when Shaw sold him only for Venkys to pull it last minute, thats just unacceptable in my book.
Dunnfc Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Just seen Michael Antonio touted at 7.5 million and the only think he's got on marshy is pace. Crossing and dribbling wise he's not a patch. Marshy starting at five million please. Who are Brighton anyways?

Marshy starting at five million please. Who are Brighton anyways? Really! We have a Wednesday season ticket holder in the family, and I've seen him several times and we both agree he's not very good. Unless he's improved 110% at Forest that has to be a joke 7.5m!
Blueandwhitemike Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Looked to me like last season Antonio took a step up in performance (on limited viewing) so I'm not surprised he's being touted for big money. Like many without knowing the details of our finances (really have no idea what is going on even with lots of good suggestions on here) I'd be hugely disappointed if we sold Marshall for 2,3 or 4 million (even though would be a good price). Ask yourself who you would rather be in the team the majority of the time him or C Taylor? Are we looking to save money and stay safe this season or still holding out hope for a shot a promotion? Selling Cairney and keeping Williamson point to the former but with the club these days... no idea. Rodallega is exactly the kind of player that could be an inspired. He has more ability than most strikers in this division, more of a question of how much he wants it. If his agent is asking us that's a very good sign, I wonder if he wants to move back to the north west. He could quite easily flop but he's certainly a more exciting name to be linked to than I expected... especially seeing the names mentioned so far.
Neal Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Rumours of Hanley to Burnley, that lot are discussing it on their message board... Let's all pretend that we'll be gutted to see it happen. Would be hilarious.
AdamRochina Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I'm excited this season I don't know why , probably because I can make more games this year , but I would love it if we sign rodegalla and maguire and then out of the four trailists we get furman and petshi Although this is blackburn we will sell Marshall rhodes and Rudy and out of the trailists sign coke and nolan haha
USABlue Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Can't see Rodallega happening. I mean you can't just add a Y on the end of the name so that might just put the kabosh on the deal.

rovers11 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Rodallega would be a top signing. Good replacement for King. Also don't be surprised if we try and take Bannan on loan as Cairney's replacement. With Maguire to sign shortly, a lot of deadwood gone, and 4 very good youth team players ready to step up next season we may not be as bad as first feared.
