[Archived] Transfer Talk Part 2

Recommended Posts

Have to agree with chris h on Marshall. Was outstanding for a spell of half a dozen games or so but I thought his attitude and performances were abysmal in the second part of last season. Gave numerous goals away by carelessly losing possession. Not sure Id sell for 2m but for what we got for Cairney I'd snap anyone's hands off.

The Hanley article looks like typical tabloid trash talk to me, Burnley "could" test Blackburn's resolve by offering 3m but the beleaguered Ewood Park outfit would be reluctant to sell blah blah blah. However in the long run if he could get his head together off the pitch I think he would be a bigger loss than Marshall were he to leave. If however his off the pitch lifestyle continues to marr his on field performance then maybe we'd be doing well to get 3m off anyone for him now.

And replace him with WHO, bearing in mind we can't buy anyone.

How many players will it be acceptable for us to sell before people get worried, 'oh it's fine if Cairney, Marshall, Gestede and Rhodes go because we got some money for them', forgetting that their replacements will be free transfers. Can't comprehend it one bit

Source?

Let's say it's a gut feeling. Think it will happen next week. Good signing.

Less convinced about Rodellega signing but would be a cracking signing if we could pull it off.

We lack some technical ability in the middle of the park. Think that may come with a prem loan. It tells you everything when Jason Lowe is currently our best central midfielder.

I don't know as it's not my job to do the scouting but on the evidence of last season the majority of the team are rubber dinghy men who think their job is done by performing 6x per season. Only Rhodes and Gestede's contributions would be genuinely irreplaceable imo. If someone wants to give us three times what we paid for Marshall I say bring it on as I honestly don't think he's that good.

Some don't seem to get it, 3m is no good if you can't spend it Rev.

It's of some use IF by selling him and Gestede we'd come out of embargo.

Never heard of him but linked with a Man City striker. Looks like he's available for loan or transfer...that counts us out unless they give him us for free.

Never heard of him too. Maybe on loan with City covering most of his wages? he was on loan to Walsall last season most probably on that sort of deal.

We don't really want to be selling any of our main players though do we. Marshall may not be perfect but you can bet your life that he'll be better than his replacement if we do sell him. We can't wheel and deal so any sales of established players will weaken us and we can't afford that with the precarious position we are in.

Rovers are flying to Portugal today. All the four trialists are on plane as are few youngsters. One of them is Andy Fisher. Never heard of him.

Hope The Furminator gets a contract, would be good to see another South African at the club :-)

I really don't understand the need to go to Portugal for 'warm weather' training. For the squad and management it would probably be the thick end of £30k to do this in a time when we are on the bones of our arse. We have one of the best training facilities in the country at Brockhall and if they wanted to keep the players together there is living accomodation too.

warm weather training, when they will play most of the games in cold weather. Bunch of softies!

I see where you're coming from, but trips like these are just as much about team building and creating unity and a positive spirit. You'll have a number of trialists and new additions and I imagine getting away from the location you will be spending an intensive 12 months at is designed to nurture and instill the teams ideals. I'd have thought Portugal would've been on the cheaper side of possible locations as well

Don't have a problem with the Portugal camp although I find it odd we play a game after only being back in pre season training barely a couple of weeks. THEN go away for an intensive training camp ?

Anyway they used to go training in Austria and playing a few games if I remember rightly then it seemed to get knocked on the head after relegation. Didn't Kean take them somewhere near Barnsley one year or something  Nice to see a foreign camp back to help get them focused.
