[Archived] New Home Shirt - Actual Image, No Sponsor

Recommended Posts

You can get the home shirt without a sponsor from JD. Extra fiver mind. I found this out after purchasing one with the sponsor from the club shop earlier today. Personally happy with the shirt with the sponsor. Looks a bit empty without it.

Its no wonder we struggle to get decent sponsorship deals at the club when merchandise is available in major retailers without the sponsor on the front.

I'm surprised the club don't get in trouble for this. How can you sell shirt sponsorship for millions of pounds and then have a situation where supporters are able to easily buy shirts without the sponsor for a similar price?

Its madness. Then we'll complain when Dafabet don't renew and we end up giving it away again like we have these last few years.

Surely Dafabet can't be happy with this? I know of I'd paid a fortune to put my name on the shirt, I'd be making sure that everyone sold had one on.

Can you imagine Chevrolet putting up with JD Sports in Manchester Arndale selling sponsorless Manure shirts!?

Edit: Great minds JH, you just beat me to the post.

Got to agree with you both here. I can understand the kids tops being sponsorless due to them being a gaming website, but the fact you can even buy the shirt sponsorless, particularly a 2 minute walk from the Rovers shop in town is a bit of a farce. I wouldn't be pleased if I was Dafabet but I assume they'll be aware of this.

I've actually had a think about this a bit more and your comment re the kids shirts has made me think maybe I wasn't that stupid to think it.

I think we have to assume that Dafabet are aware of this and that maybe it's a religion thing so not to exclude Muslims or any other Religion where betting is forbidden. Dafabet have probably been sold the idea that a majority of the shirts sold will have their logo on and more importantly the shirts worn by the players which are photographed in the papers and shown on television do bear their name.

I don't know, I'm 'just supposin' (as Francis Rossi once said). Just trying to find a good reason why Dafabet would allow this.

I'll have to see if you could buy a sponsorless Villa shirt for last season.

Delighted with the new shirt! Fits me well (average bod, slight podge) and looks like a smart shirt as well as a sports strip.

As I said re: last season's away kit, I'd be happy to wear it to a Sunday Roast or a barbecue and not feel a complete arse.

If you're going to a BBQ and not feeling a compete arse, you're going to the wrong BBQs. 😈😊

The gambling side may make sense RE our Muslim supporters. I'd be intrigued to know if this is the case. If a Muslim messageboard member could perhaps offer insight as to whether sporting such a logo is an issue then that would be great. Plenty of other teams have been sponsored by such companies in recent years and I wonder if they followed the same protocol or not. If you find out about Villa then do post. I would look it up myself but I'm lazy.

Sounds like today was a bit shambolic.

Come down kids and meet the players at a shirt signing - what they didn't announce is some of the kids shirt sizes aren't available yet

I've only ever bought sponsorless one's in recent years... I think a big advert (especially last season's) ruins our famous halves.

I fully understand why clubs have to do it, but I'm not going to pay £50.00 for the privilege of being a walking advert!

For a tenner though, I did make an exception when they were selling off last season's 3rd kit!

I don't think the dafabet logo is too intrusive. Were there complaints about sponsors when McEwan's Lager, Time Computers or CIS etc etc sponsored us? I doubt there were so I don't see the issue with the current kit. Can understand the qualms with the £50 asking price. Very steep IMO.

I may buy an XL youth, cheaper, no sponsor and it will be too tight and make me look super sexy

Everyone's a winner

Got a princes trust era sponsor less shirt in the sale for a tenner back when. No need to ever buy another until I get rogan Josh down it as the shirt is always blue and white and the logo never changes. Owt over a tenner is having your under carraige felt for what are very cheap looking bits of cloth. Far better quality in debenhams for 1/3 the price. In fact primarni are better quality. Fan fleecing on the 21st centurt

The first pic will be when I'm on holiday! Possibly during the Nou Camp tour on Sunday.

Hi Mike, hope everything is still good with teaching!

I'm going to be getting the shirt either today or this weekend with the intention of taking it my hols...

I usually buy a kids shirt because the fit is slim but I may need to accept I need a mans shirt now.

And that cost a little more too!

Ha
