[Archived] Is It Time To Protest Against Venkys?

Recommended Posts

The problem as always is perception. Wigan, Bolton and Blackpool all had terrible seasons and yet we are discussing protesting when finishing in mid table. The likes of Leeds and Wednesday below us. We know the script but few outsiders realise or care. Heck, even lots of our fans have either left, or meekly accepted circumstances seemingly resigned to our fate. I genuinely do not feel the collective will remains. Divide and conquer. We are not even united on here. A fractured support base with nothing to trust or believe in.

It's got to be done much cuter than what's been seen before. Ive got a few ideas, all based around ict, access to information, ease of communication, social media and a concerted e-campaign. Instead of feeezing my nads off on Bolton Road losing the PR battle in an angry mob, it could be handled much better. Are signs and banners allowed on the ground? If access was available to current and former customer email databases that would be a good start. Unite the fans. Until that day arrives any campaign will struggle.

We do not forget, we do not forgive, we are.........................BRFCS

.............expect us.

2 years ago I'd have agreed. I'm sceptical now though only because the entire scenario with the owners is cloak and dagger.

Promising to release the dossier then not doing, as well as being friendly with the ridiculous Malaysian pundit is a good enough reason to be sceptical imo.

Name any Rovers supporter who did more.

It seems very relevant to me. I'm not going over the specific issues you raised because Glen has aleady responded to them and ,in any case, its up to him.

But since you are doubtful regarding his contribution, I've asked you "who's done more?"

No-one I can think of, I admit. But my point is more that he and the group promised to do more than they actually did.

I'm surely allowed to be sceptical of anyone who doesn't stick to their word?

If I claim to run a marathon for sponsorship but only run a half-marathon, I've still done something impressive, but not done what I claimed I had. I'd expect anyone with a vested interest in my progress to demand why I didn't do what I said I would and even distrust me when I say I'm running another one.

Name any Rovers supporter who did more.

It depends what you mean by 'more". As a Rovers supporter I personally never wanted him running about trying to oust the owners without any viable alternative in the first place.

I don't doubt he was acting with the best of intentions and doing what he thought was the best thing for the Club. I just don't happen to agree it was the best thing but if anyone else shares or shared the same view you got or get labelled not proper fans or apathetic or not caring or "venky lover" even now.

When in fact we do care every bit as much but differ on the best way to go about it.

But vastly more than anyone else! Not his fault Venkys still here. Anyway, we all have different views, I've stated mine so I'll leave it there.

By the way, Glen didn't know me from Adam but that didn't stop him talking to me for an hour on what he knew and what his group were up to. Some of the stuff was mind-boggling and only some of it subsequently revealed on here.

No reason why anyone else can't have a chat with him, he was perfectly open with me. So rather than get into him like many have done ( not implying you have by the way) why not take the trouble to find out? He's issued that invite on here several times.

Personally I'm delighted he's now heading up the Trust and I hope for great things from that direction some way, some day. A day when the stench of Venky no longer pollutes Ewood.

The best way of protesting is just do not bother going !

An empty ground speaks volumes !

Venkys Out !

Well 10000 already have and that's done us no good.

Face facts there will always be 5/6000 at Ewood Park regardless of division, cost, owners etc. They will never, ever boycott, so an empty ground won't ever happen so it needs to stop being brought up.

Also, it is all well and good stating 'I'm just boycotting', no doubt the type of fan that pours over the club accounts and posts numerous times a day on BRFCC is the kind of fan that is ACTUALLY boycotting, things change and they will be back.

However, the vast majority of the 10000+ that have stopped attending don't foresnsically examine the ongoings at BRFC, they were just the type of fan that enjoyed going to Ewood every other week, they are now lost fans who the majority of won't ever return. Not sure how encouraging more 'boycotts' is going to help the club when Venky's finally do feck off.

Finally some common sense. Especially given they are not a homogenous group and they cannot be contacted and organised even if they were inclined to boycott. And who would pay attention anyway? And who, even if they paid attention, would do what about it? Can't possibly happen or work.

Had a chin wag with a Rovers fan today at work, basically:

Venkys trying to make things right. :glare:

Club 'PUNCHING ABOVE ITS WEIGHT'.(!!!)

Can't replace Bowyer because of FFP.(?)

General acceptance of our position and plight followed by a 'get behind the lads and keep the faith'

We have no chance.

Maybe it's us that have got it wrong D?

This sort of attitude is across the fanbase, I'm seriously beginning to think I've got it all wrong, this is where we deserve to be, it's our place.

To be fair SG, I'd say people like that are a minority, a decent sized one, but a minority all the same.

Most fans I come across believe Venky's have completely destroyed the club.

There is a lot though. Even my family don't get it. Hated the protests...get behind the team, they cried. I couldn't see my team to get behind. Just a collection of mercenary chancers, managed by a lying, thieving, obnoxious, drink driving, bullshitting, @#/? up no mark.

They think I'm over exaggerating and worrying about problems that don't exist.

Maybe Gav is right. Maybe I've got it wrong. My dad always said if I fell in a pile of horse crap, i'd come up smelling of roses. Maybe that the Venkys next strapline.

Whatever the end game my spider sense is tingling.
