[Archived] Is It Time To Protest Against Venkys?

In case anyone hasn't noticed though, protests are very much underway. The number of people staying away from Ewood is a protest in itself. Whether it be a protest against Venkys, against Bowyer or against dire football, it's happening all the same.

Yesterdays crowd was 534 up on the first match last season.

Chicken @#/? arse ?

I'd get banned for that !

Did you go on the pitch v Wigan or try ?

What a pathetic arrogent post .

I went on every protest , didn't stay on the full 24 hour one as the wife had hospital appt in London .

I got punched shoved , spat on, swore at . How dare you call people chicken @#/? arses ?

What have YOU done ?

Looks like you navigated the swear filter too , that's against the rules

Try reading the previous posts before having a go at me. Then perhaps you'll see I was referring to a previous post in which roverandout referred to Rovers fans in that way. It was not me - that'll be a disappointment for you. Perhaps you should rant at him or Randy_Synge.

Rovers fans are a meek bunch of surrender monkeys, with plenty thick as the proverbial two short planks.

No I wasn't on the pitch against Wigan because I had my disabled son with me. I hope that's OK with you?

As for what have I done? I don't need to write a list but I'm happy I've done my bit, you obviously feel you do need to tell us what you've done. I won't pass judgement on that.

Where you even there ? What a daft thing to say given the difference in number of away fans. The home sections were significantly down on the same stage as last season. That's probably the type of utter bullscreet that gets dressed up and fed back to Pune. Your outing yourself again with that type of talk !

Some table appeared on social media showing the figures of season tickets shown at Championship clubs. It put ours at around 11,400. IF and it's a big if they are anywhere near correct then that means less than a thousand walk ons yesterday in the home sections. That surely a concern, if anyone even cares at the club that is.

Our season ticket sales in isolation are pretty bloody good considering the debacle of the last 5 years. They compare well to a lot of Championship clubs, however our walk ons are miniscule.

The fact that the matchday prices are very expensive for a lot of games and STs are so cheap probably means that many fans will just buy a ST.

The majority of fans seem happy to accept we're a mid table championship side, being a long standing supporter myself I cannot for the life of me understand that acceptance.

I think the town and majority of its supporters have no fight, or simply have more important things to occupy there minds.

I hope that a natural progression of poor results, selling our assets and total distruction of the club that Jack built will eventually wake people up, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm out of the day to day frustration of supporting the club, maybe it's time to stay out and find a different passion because many of my fellow supporters quite simply couldn't care less.

Food for thought.

Food for thought indeed. Results might tip the balance. Some big local derbies ahead. Few will enjoy being beaten in those games especially, if that's how it ultimately pans out.

Agreed. If our hardcore remains 10/12k for league games that's very good considering everything that's gone on. It still represents one of the best % compared to the towns population in this league. A nice fact to quote to away fans who like to mouth off about our support.

I think in reality we probably sell around 8/9 k ST's with a couple of thousand complimentaries or something boosting that figure. Sometimes a lot of them will get taken up others times not many hence the fluctuating numbers actually in the ground yet the official attendance always remains around the same minus the away contingent.

Matchday prices are becoming ridiculous around the Championship now. We charged Wolves £27 on Saturday and same in the BBE I believe. £27.50 for Hudds at weekend, should always take 1500 plus across there but I bet it's about half that on Saturday :(

How's the view from your high horse Gav?

;-)

Seriously though, we need Venky's out long term, no doubt. But if Venky's leave tomorrow, on Wednesday we need someone with deep pockets to plug the gaps of which there are plenty. We need a sensible plan, and someone to get Venky's to talk at least, the Trust at present isn't feasible in my view.

The two Ians said the club was unsellable, I believe, and they're the most likely to be able to acquire the funds to do so, from what we've seen thus far.

That's far from promising. What's less promising is Venky's lack of willingness to talk to anyone.

That's got to be step 1. Self-righteousness about what we could do, should do, or should have done doesn't help, and is getting a bit irritating if I'm being honest. (And this isn't just aimed at you btw, and nowhere near as irritating, gut - wrenching or galling as anything Venky's have done for this club under their watch).

Yes Abbey I did go, to all of them, even went straight from work that Friday night in the freezing cold, stayed for 3 hours, went Sundaysand sSaturdays, handed out leaflets, when I said most fans, I wasn't aiming it at you as I know you would have been there

Err, I think it is total bull and attention seeking.

You're going to have to offer more than that to be taken seriously Pedro, or you're simply attention seeking yourself.

Over to you :tu:

I actually think there's a difference between un sellable as in you wouldn't actually pay for it , and coming to the party with enough cash to run it in the event Venkys did walk away one morning. The problem as you say is that they just don't talk to anyone.

If we really want to fight for a battle that to me is the one we should be uniting behind ie en masses urging Venkys to open up a dialogue with the 2 Ian's if not about taking over then a dialogue about how the club should be run with local influence, passion and leadership would be a hell of a start.

John Williams, pick your own salary, job sorted.

He could never work under Venkys Joe, he's a football man, knows the football business and would not be willing to run the club with 1 hand tied behind his back as we soon saw when these idiots took over.

You're right, I think the 30 or so regular posters are sick of hearing me harping on about this very subject and that's why I posted what I posted.

Theyve ruined this football club, ruined Jacks legacy and frankly most people couldn't care less, it's to much trouble to get involved, but that's just typical of today's society in general.

In years to come people will be telling their grandkids they fought a good fight, when in reality they hid under the bed whilst these idiots from Pune had a free reign and destroyed the club and took the fight out of the town.

Prawn sandwiches all round.

Yes but would he work for fans as a mediator to build burnt bridges?

Who wants to build burnt bridges?

It's far to late for that.

Far to many supporters have a perverted fixation with Venkys making amends. It borders on allowing a child mollester to continue looking after the kids because you've no other option, it's just wrong.

A bit extreme I know but it gets the point across.

I don't think that's a clever analogy Gav, I'm sure you are employing hyperbole in its extreme.

If there was option to go back to something similar to 2005-10 with owners (possibly Venkys) putting in a small amount if anything, and hiring proper professionals achieving the results - I'd snatch the hand off.

It's an extreme example I agree but it gets the point across.

As for your other point, I'd snap the other hand off, as long as it's not these inept idiots.

Did I read that right GAV? Your hatred of the Venky's is so profound you actually WANT us to do badly?

I fear your opinion of them is skewing your viewpoint to an unhealthy degree my old friend.

I would take issue with your point that those who don't protest don't care Gav. I think it's a case of what comes next if Venky's leave. As yet I've not seen anyone put forward a rational explanation of how we go forward without an extremely rich backer. The fact that Venkys are putting money in on a regular basis tells me that the club is simply not viable without a wealthy backer. Personally, getting rid of Venkys isn't going to solve any problems unless there is someone who is ready to step in. As we know when the Trust put us up for sale, potential buyers weren't exactly rushing to snap us up. I really don't agree that those who don't protest don't care. We all care but we all have different views of what is best for the club.
