[Archived] Is It Time To Protest Against Venkys?

Recommended Posts

If Venkys stance on selling players is anything to go by then if they did put it up for sale they'd probably want an completely unrealistic amount for it, otherwise they'd just keep us hanging similar to what we are now. Probably the Ian's gang etc would only ever come in with a rescue package. Still nice to know they are there though, IF they would even consider it that is.

Yep that's how I see it too pretty much. Well to be honest they don't ever seem like they do want to sell it and presumably will keep dripping money in till there isn't a fan in the ground. To me a change of owners is either going toco da out because they simply cut their losses and give it somebody else to run with or it simply is such a busted flush that Admin is the only way out but the latter doesn't seem a fit with somebody of their culture and who have blown £130 million or whatever the number is.I think at someone they will just hand over the keys probably to a completely unsuitable bunch of hoods!! If they get that bit wrong then it is goodnight Vienna.

By the way missed your reply about who was involved at Seneca , Tomphil- sorry about that. Like you say interesting people but they look like they have a lot of financial brains around that business so that would comfort me .The Matthewman connection was a puzzle I have to say .Wouldnt mind being a fly on the wall when Rovers matters get discussed!!!!

I think we have to assume that them pouring millions into Rovers at a loss somehow works to some advantage within their accounts. If refuse to believe they are that stupid or even that face saving pig ignorant. I'm also convinced that some of the money is being bled out and goes around in a big circle for some reason. We think they are daft but I bet there is some right Indian financial brains behind this circus.

They certainly are charitable, well to everyone except the fans. The people who've got rich of their backs must be staggering in number yet the gravy keeps on flowing. Maybe if they instead gave everyone of us 12k regular Rovers fans a hundred grand each we'd get right behind them :)

There has to be some reason for keeping hold of the club well it's not for promotion or too be well run otherwise Shaw and Bowyer wouldn't be anywhere near the gig

Why not get a plane to fly round the ground.Venkys enough is enough in Hindu.During the Bolton game sky will show it pune will see it.

Someone should fly over to Pune and write it on the walls of their palace, 6ft high letters which rules me out :tu:

Well I will be making my own protest v Bolton.

Friday night football my ar$e.

A few pints down the Oak, walk home over the fields, nice steak for my tea then follow the game on this MB if I can stay awake.

I doubt if the real gate will be 12,000.

2' 6" letters. Last time I saw you I was sure you were shrinking with age, or too much hard work ;-)

That sounds rather more like a personal choice than a protest,

I've no problem with that at all, but passing off one as the other devalues those who are genuinely protesting (if any still are). It's a bit like those people who vote for strike action, then spend the day at the beach, rather than manning a picket line.

Probably more personal choice rather than protest Glenn.

To be honest the protest in me regarding Rovers is no more when I look around and see many of those left at Ewood to potentially protest would probably turn up to see a troop of monkeys play in blue and white shirts and still clap them on.

I was about to get a box at the time the V's took over. I went back to a ST a couple of seasons ago but have little motivation to watch what has become of my Club. At least in the 70's and 80's there was a belly for a fight from owners, players and fans (not that sort of fans fighting you understand).

I will not be doing PNE away (first time since pre-Manx Cup) nor Burnlee away (first time since the mid-70's); the only away games are MK Dons way (new ground) and Bristol City (lads weekend).

I have always loved my Club but the motivation has been hammered out of me. I have other interests such as weekend walking in the Lakes and compare this to the p!ss take we have to put up with at Ewood with dire football and zero atmosphere and there is no comparison.

Rovers will always be my Team. I have watched them for 50 years (*). I will still go to most home games (I think), but the lure of the mountains, lakes and planned holidays in New Zealand, South America etc mean that Rovers are dropping down the list.

I am a lifetime fan. But I will not blindly follow week in and week out anymore. The entertainment value these days is like watching cow sh!t solidify and people like me have choices.

(*). I know I don't look anything like that old, or so I am constantly being told. Apparently some men mature well and keep their good looks ;-)

It is 200 odd quid for 23 matches, £11ish a match.

So, with the plethora of midweek games, it is no surprise that folk can't be arsed rushing back from work to watch Rovers V Rotherham in the freezing cold.

I'll be there because I'm a sad case, but it can't be denied that unlike the PL where it felt like every game was vital, watching us plod about in a two thirds empty ground, with Mr Motivator on the sidelines and a load of unfit, undrilled players isn't appealing to a lot of people.

The club is crying out for some leadership, some passion, a spark that can take us places- i.e Howe at Bournemouth, but there is nothing in the present day set up that makes you think that is possible.

I still think a peaceful but impactful statement to the owners, the Board and the media would come in agreeing to all stay on the concourse for the first 15 minutes of a chosen game. No trouble, all quite silent but a match kicking off with nobody in the seats would be a hell of a talking point. Poll??

What about the FA?

They are the biggest villains in all of this IMO, as it was their direct responsibility to make sure the club is not sold to a bunch of charlatans that will ultimately destroy it: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9134285/FA-to-enforce-stricter-rules-on-club-ownership-with-new-independent-regulator-to-prevent-Portsmouth-repeat.html

So why did they not do their job? Were they too busy browsing Twitter to find how many players they can fine for whatever? Or do the "strict club ownership rules" extend solely to Venkys presenting a piece of paper explaining that they have the money to buy us, and that's that, case closed, done deal? Absolutely 0 consideration given to the fact that Venkys are a a bunch of chicken farmers (*and other products!) from India with absolutely 0 experience or connections to English football? How is this alright? I know other unhappy fans will also say their clubs didn't get the best of ownership, but I mean I can't imagine a greater disconnect than who we got as owners.

I would suggest, but then my guess is that the FA have also given themselves no legal avenues through which to correct this mistake and force Venkys to relinquish the club.

Is there no national or international court that will take the FA administration to task for the complete and utter disregard they have shown to such a historical club and the passion and interest of hundreds of thousands of supporters?

My blood is boiling at all this. Sadly I suppose our one and only distant hope is for Venkys to find a benevolent ending to all this and we can survive when they one day leave. But I very much would have the FA answer for all this. Is there no one who can hear our case?

I think its a cracking idea but just at the wrong time, I think we need to wait until things get worse, which they will, and the support realises that we've got no future under these idiots.

Some 10,000 Newcastle supporters boycotted the Spurs game last season and Sky decided to tell the footballing world it hardly made a difference.....

You could see from the TV pictures that massive gaps were clearly visible in the stands, I've cancelled my Sky subscription, they're a set of ****s, all of them in the pockets of the clubs and agents.

But who cares what sky think?

I think its a good idea, but later in the season when the pain starts.

If we did the same and even if Sky or any of the footballing media reported it, I still maintain we'd be fitted up as the pantomime villains once again though!

Sky pundits are in the pockets of people that provide their wages, directly and indirectly, not 1 of them speaks for this football club or this town, they're insignificant as far as I'm concerned.

They couldn't spin 250 Bpool fans on the pitch and getting the game abandoned, points deduction and threats to Oyston by FA. It maybe a bit extreme but direct action is working in Bpool, I think Oyston has got the message and is slowly imploding.

We have a thread thats a tribute to Jack Walker, every day that passes we insult his memory by allowing and supporting the current regime that has destroyed the club he loved, the club he built, think about that.

Far to many supporters cowardly sit behind the presumption that as fans we can't do anything about it, @#/? we can't, if you have the desire you can bring about change, simple as that.

Tributes on a Jack Walker page are all well and good, but do you really mean it?

Talk is cheap, we'll soon need action, are you up for the fight?

You're talking a good game, GAV, but how about leading by example?

Yes. On your shoes by the sound of it. If you knew Gav you would realise he is action as well as talk.

While I respect your loyalty to a friend, I don't think my question was at all unreasonable. GAV has been making this call to arms for some time now. If you want to spur people into action, you need to give them something to get behind. Just posting the same thing over and over again doesn't cut it.
