[Archived] Is It Time To Protest Against Venkys?

Recommended Posts

I am sure they know that they are not liked generally and that, perhaps, has created a bit of a stand off situation.

Any communication doesn't necessarily have to come directly from them as long as Shaw and Myers do it for them.

It would be nice if the fans forum group could impress upon the powers that be that regular communication/dialogue would be both appropriate and welcome.

There ought to be strong protests if we are relegated this season because it would represent another lurch downwards under the owners' tenure which overall has been nothing short of disastrous on and off the pitch despite the family continuing to pour millions into the club. Whether someone or some group can successfully organise a meaningful protest that would stir owners living thousands of miles away remains in doubt however - especially after the well meaning but ultmately futile efforts by a few individuals last time. I expressed my own views on the best way to protest but was informed it would be breaking the law - and earned me a ban from an overzealous moderator for my troubles.

I would assume that Lambert has been promised money to spend at some point (otherwise he would not have taken the job) but if it fails to materialise he should walk away from the club on a point of principle. I would expect him to resign anyway if we go down - the squad isn't the best but if Lambert has anything about him we ought to stay up .

I am part of the big wide world Phil. My eyes and ears are open but I'm not naive enough not to recognise that Rhodes has taken a step up and been fed up here for quite some time. We've been given a very fair price for him and quite a few fans have been eyebrow deep in denial.

Maybe the Glasgow Mafia are playing the long game and Judan Ali is waiting to take over next week, straight after the owners have asset stripped us before setting up Lancashire United...or maybe I'm right.

Would that be the same Glasgow Mafia theory that some of our players at the time actually thought might be true ?

You see what we are up against when it comes to our strange ownership B)

Where there's money, there's fools, crooks, greed and sadness.

You were quite correct Jim. I also concurred with that view but our support is not now like it was in the 70s and 80s and is beyond being able to 'man up' in that respect.

I escaped a ban, by the way :-)

Bit surprised old guys like Jim didn't do more. Lot less likely to be punished when you're OAP's.

Well I did try to start a protest myself (less said about those attempts the better) and was involved in the official one at the Tottenham 2011 game. Would have been at the Chelsea one too in most circumstances but had something else to do immediately after that match. Came up with a few ideas too (legal ones generally) which were ignored.

Probably would have been banned from the stadium for something if I hadn't left at that point. Remember a post on here by Glenn P when people actually called for me to be reinstated. For the record I never threatened Phil Jones with violence as Glenn suggested and called me a "liability to the site" for such threats. Only ever threatened violence once (without truly threatening it as I never would have followed up on it) and that was on twitter.

Was your protest the night I bumped into someone (I thought it was you, ponytail and shorts) by the JW statue? It transpired later there'd been an alleged attempt to get into Ewood at night.

No that wasn't me. Don't have a ponytail and never wear shorts. Was this attempt during the night or in the evening? Mine wasn't overnight it was in the early evening perhaps around 5pm. Was one just before when I supposedly left due to being cold but it was mainly because nobody joined me. Had doubts about that one as well since I suffer from social anxiety (as I know now having finally gone to the Doctors) and probably will be diagnosed with Aspergers. Not trying to say that's because of Rovers fans that would be ridiculous.

So really I didn't want to be bombarded with people coming up and asking questions plus the publicity that would have come from it. I also didn't want someone I've insulted to smack me in the face as I'm not a huge guy (and certainly not fat as Abbey claimed I'm bordering on underweight) and wouldn't be able to defend myself. Suppose that makes me sound like a coward. Never been obsessed with attention if I was then I wouldn't have left when I did. So yes on that one I backed out but felt I made up for it by my later actions inside Ewood. It wasn't John Newsham who kicked me out either got no idea who it was. Just completely lost the plot after the Qatari thing it wasn't about attention. Did completely flip on twitter a couple times in past few years. Would rather not talk about that was completely out of my mind with anger and bitterness.

It was around 5pm, but winter and dark, probably Dec/Jan-ish?

I spoke to a madcap bloke with a ponytail by the JW statue and a bloke about 35ish (5 years ago now) who was shy with a shortish haircut. Nondescript clothing unless I was just taken aback by the other bloke's short and tee in minus temperatures.

I was manning the barricades 40 years ago matey - now it's the younger generation's turn to get in the firing line. How strongly do you feel and do you love your club or not ?

Cobblers. There's no reason why you shouldn't go first. You surely love the club just as much.

It was definitely November and it certainly was dark.

One poster said they saw security kicking someone out of Ewood which almost certainly would have been me. Didn't someone try to confront Kean at Brockhall soon after or was that all made up? If it did happen they obviously didn't improve security lol. I still remember coming back from Southampton (there was a rugby game at Ewood that day) and someone had left the gates on the JW/DW corner open. Did walk on the pitch with a few fans but didn't stick around. Good thing it was fans and not someone who could have caused serious damage.

Another night where we should be full of praise where Venkys have led us.

But there is not a single sign of any protest directed at Venkys. They came, they saw, they ruined a club, and get to sit home comfortably without the slightest of consequences for their actions.

Today saw the full result of scum ownership . When they took over no way would West Ham beat us 1-5 .

I'd rather be in boltons position than have these pond lives murder our club .

Be careful what you wish for. With the types of people being linked with a take over they might just be starting their nightmare.

People shouldn't need a convenient excuse to bring Venkys up really. Nobody has to find a bad result to feel like they can justify criticism of them. It would actually look better to continue criticising them regardless of what the results are. Even if Rovers get promoted under their regime people won't trust them either. Other than if there was a miraculous Peter Coates style turnaround.
