Sadly for us and many teams in this league the key to survival and maybe pushing on seems to be unearthing a gem and selling on at the height of their value. I hope this lad and the others on the brink are good enough to make a positive impact.

I would have liked to have seen him more at the end of the season but you have to think the younger lads will be used more now the numbers are down.

Looking forward to seeing this lad have a right good go, hopefully in his correct position and if he proves good enough then Bowyer should hail him magnificent and he should keep the shirt. Even at the expense of one of the favs if he's good enough :rover:

Bloody hell tomphil You could have cut and paste that from one of hundreds of tired, soul crushing posts on here.

Not like you to have a dig Chris :)

Tell me is it the baking sun down under or too much of that gnats @#/? Aussie lager that makes you constantly run around on here making duff comments on other peoples posts whilst never contributing a thing yourself ?

Anyway back to the topic I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing him have his chance. Do you or anyone else really think he'd displace one of Gaz's favs regularly even if he performs like a young Gazza though ?

Well that's me told.

You forgot to mention the manager giving young O'Sullivan a nickname by the way.

I feel like the most likely scenario at the moment is Gestede goes but we manage to hold onto everyone else (except maybe Marshall) but only manage to bring in un tested talent like Furman.

In that eventuality it will really be a case of O'Sullivan and Lenihan stepping up and making a big impression, alongside one or two of our untested freebees. If they can offer the same sort of level of performance as King and Cairney - who were good on their day but ran hot and cold - then we should stay above relegation.

Big ask for our youngsters, but we've seen seemingly inadequate players step up before with the likes of Gallagher,Stead, Derbyshire, Olsson. Just hope it isn't like Treacy, Andrews et al where they just were not anywhere near the level... Then we would be fooked.

Can we ask where you saw him play, how many times, and who against, to draw this conclusion blueboy3333.

As you are interested Jal, Sully, can occupy a variety of positions either wide or centre midfield. He is quick and has a trick of two. Excellent with free-kicks and has scored goals from them for the Under-18's, Under-21's and at both Stanley and Barnsley. He doesn't have the direct pace of King. Personally, I think the jury is still out as to whether he will make it or not. The times I saw him at Stanley last season he was outstanding - just the sort of form I had seen him display with the youth and Under-21 teams - however, I thought he had a fairly underwhelming game at Birmingham last season and struggled to beat his full-back. As with all youngsters there will be good and bad games but I think given a run of games he might well develop into a more than useful player for the Rovers. This season is really make or break for the lad.

Haha...tired and "soul crushing". I love it.

Hell, I really do try to control the pedant in me, but I just can't resist pointing out that the posts are only responses to the soul crushing actions of "the others"...just saying!

You're too good for me Mr Venkhater, I'm not taking you on.

In the abscence of any positive PR, feel good factor, an inspiring manager, or new signings, young players coming through could be just the lift the club and fans require. Always nice to see players breaking through especially when making a first team place their own. An injection of energy, youthful confidence and belief won't go amiss. Big step up however and although I also have not seen much of the lad have heard good reports from those that have. Meant to have a cracking attitude and work ethic.

Absolutely. A little disappointing that Parson reports Mahoney has stalled a bit. I'm really rooting for him, as the Spurs lot say "he's one of our own".

Cheers Parson look forward to seeing him play though for me must admit he never stood out at academy level which kind of adds to the intrigue right now.

His position through the youth system was mainly as a no.10 but I think he's too lightweight at present for that in this league, can see him being played on the wing until he bulks up a bit.

Also known as the Alan Judge gambit.
