It still is, imy9. At least according to our Census, which I'm not sure is entirely accurate and you can draw many assumptions from it. I used to be a practising Christian when I was young, but only because my Mum took us to church etc. In other words, before I could make my own decisions in life. As an adult (well, 14), decided that religion wasn't for me. That's the way the country seems to have been going for decades. I'm surprised that people not affiliated with religion is only 25%. I would've thought more than half to be honest, but I wonder how many of the 59% who are "Christian" go to church?

Anyway, this thread is so off-topic now. Better to move this conversation into the other threads if you can.

Hi Al perhaps read the thread title? It's on topic. I do respect that this was a Christian country, you don't need to shout at me. Is it too much to ask you to be a little impartial and acknowledge it takes two to tango? Or would you like me to recite the national anthem to prove my loyalty to the state?

With all due respect this is where an understanding of the middle east is essential. This is not religious. This is a political issue. Zionism is at the heart of Israeli policy and will stop any peace process from working. If UK and US push politically then maybe Israel will see sense.

Israel Are not the aggressor it is Hamas still to this day lobbing rockets even though they know the Israelis will give it back to them tenfold, and rightly so. I don't expect you to agree as you are totally biased towards the Muslims whatever atrocities they perform anywhere, despite the fact that they impose themselves upon the resident population wherever they are allowed in anywhere in the world..

Theres people banging on about this being a Christian country and all though that technically may be the case, but in reality i doubt any of the posters going on about this being a christian country above set foot inside a church other than for weddings, christenings(which are nothing more than an excuse to have a better bit of a do) and funrals.

Theres people banging on about this being a Christian country and all though that technically may be the case, but in reality i doubt any of the posters going on about this being a christian country above set foot inside a church other than for weddings, christenings(which are nothing more than an excuse to have a better bit of a do) and funrals.

Even if it's largely secular, most will have been brought up as Christians, then chosen atheism, or just a less active role in their religion. Freedom of choice eh?

This is just an observation bear in mind, as we all have posters that push our buttons, but this is my view of why there is so much bickering. (State of the club aside)

Posters don't like what some other posters are saying, and seemingly wait for that poster to post, then see one line of that post they don't like, disect this, and go off on one about it. The other poster reacts, and the cycle repeats. What is most interesting about this, is that people saying they 'have them on ignore, I've had enough of them, it's not worth it etc'.

When they clearly must feel it is worth it, as they reply to their enemy's posts constantly, in an effort to argue the toss, over absolutely nothing.

Just a theory anyway, if it makes sense at all!
