Seems fair enough to me. Radiohead are awful. I blame western liberals.

Wow, finally Jim without an argument. Childishness is the last defence eh. As your side are only too fond of saying, educate yourself. Read the full extent of what Erdogan has done in his life. It's truly amazing how much our "right-wing media" have failed to tell you.

No idea why, maybe they're actually left-wing. Or at least woefully confused left-wing.

Edit:

I read one news report in Spanish of Turkish Intelligence calling it a failed coup as of now. We will see. After all that is a government agency, what else would they say?

Hurriyet , Turkish news was offline for a spell but are now back online.

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/

Also, a pro-coup helicopter shot a bunch of police and the helicopter itself got shot down by a pro-regime plane, nowhere to really confirm this though. News out there.

Well by the sounds of it appears to be a defeat, very sad if so. Utterly despicable positive reaction from the contemptible extremist-sympathising BBC.

Turkey has failed where Egypt succeeded looks like, I shudder to think which direction their ****wit president will take them over the next decade. Yet again thank god we're out of Europe, if there's even a sniff this country will get in.

Radiohead are amazing, just to clarify! Consistently quality and different every album!

Anyhow, that Turkish president is a wrong'un and I don't blame anyone trying to overthrow him. Isn't that how he got into power in any case? Can't imagine I'd ever want to go to Turkey anyhow, certainly not now!

One of the key vote leave people, Boris Johnson campaigned for Turkey to join the EU previouslyas it happens and the video can be found online easily. I don't think the time for point scoring is now, certainly when there have been lives lost.

You post nonsense most of the time but even by your standards that is a ridiculous statement.

I think the failed coup was in response to Erdogan's increasing desire to be a Sultan and do away with a secular democratic system. Now he'll use it as an excuse to push an Islamist agenda that is pretending to be democratic and secular even more. His tolerance of IS in border towns and the rumours of his family benefiting from smuggled IS oil shows where his loyalties ultimately lie. He is happy with IS existing because they're probably the same sect of Islam and IS are fighting Kurds.

Definitely not a person you can trust or welcome into the EU. An EU with a Shengen zone Turkey would make France and Germany look like Northern Ireland in the 70's and 80's.

London's Garden Bridge; a classic example of our hapless and deceitful Foreign Minister in action.

Garden Bridge was initially promised by Johnson, the then Mayor of London, as a completely privately funded project, with no need for taxpayers' money to make up the total £175m needed. Lo and behold, £60m of taxpayers' money has now been allocated to help fund the project, which is still £32m short of what is needed to fulfil it.

Furthermore, annual maintenance of Garden Bridge will cost £3.5m a year, again promised by Johnson to be paid for with private funds. Sure enough, it now also looks like this money will come from public funds.

An official report has also suggested that Johnson was "less than honest" in the selection of the final design. I presume that means he was favouring a pal. Well... It wouldn't be the first time that this guy has been recklessly dishonest, would it?

stream_img.jpg

What the hell is this joker doing in one of the most senior positions in public office? And why is this public money not being directed towards London's housing crisis? Sadiq Khan, consign this project to the dustbin!

Accusations are abound that the failed coup was actually a fake coup, designed to mirror the effect of the Reichstag Fire in 1933.

Erdogan is quoted as calling the coup 'a gift from God' and has removed over 2,500 judges from office since.

Does it follow that there will now be an election called while he has the country's sympathy, leading to 10-15 years of democratically elected dictatorship?

All this while we call them a 'crucial ally', much as Chamberlain waved his papers from Germany...

Has the light come on at last for you Mike E ?

:D

No doubt the EU/Bilderberg response will be, we have to accept Turkey in order to support and strengthen their democracy

Also been some stories (one from an arab tv station interview with a "captured" soldier) with translation, that they had been told it was a training exercise and did not realise what was going on until the people hit the streets

The mosques were active at strange times weren't they, do they often call to prayer at 1/2am in the morning and continue throughout the early hours in Turkey? Almost sounded like a call to arms

See the deputy PM in Turkey is calling for the death penalty to be brought back in to deal with the military uprising, wonder if they will select beheading as the chosen way of doing it, seems popular in certain circles

The money is coming from the Transport for London budget.

If they don't need it for Transport, maybe it could be diverted to the north-west so our commuters don't have to continue to use the 1970's rolling stock.

Another colossal issue being voted on today by MPs. The renewal of the Trident nuclear deterrent system. Corbyn, half of Labour, and the SNP, will be voting to disband Trident, while the government and half of Labour are expected to vote to renew it and, subsequently, win.

If we do ever disband, surely we should be doing it by talking and agreeing with other nations who have nukes, rather than a vote in the Commons. This is a massive security issue that, I suspect, very few of the MPs understand.

Of the £60m of public money being injected into the project, £30m comes from the Department for Transport (that would be our money). The other £30m comes from Transport for London as a loan. So Londoners get their money back (although they will only get £20m back over the course of 50 years!) and the rest of that tax money is just given to the project. If anything, it should be the other way around.

The project stinks of favour-mongering. When you're in public office, use your powers to do some discreet favouring to your mates at the expense of the establishment. That's how it is now. Think of the cretins who've infested Rovers over the last six years.

It seems that, whenever Boris gets his fingers into a pie, there's some ulterior motive and falsifications as a means to an end. This, all from a man who once described himself as recklessly honest.

It's surprisingly simple, but no country trusts another to disarm.

See Blackadder explain the development of WW1 in the last episode but substitute 'empires' for 'nuclear weaponry'.

Well I wish he would put some fingers in pies and sort out the estuary airport

Er black adder wasn't real dude

The war was and his character's explanation was in agreement with most modern historians.

The whole point of Blackadder was to put a modern voice in the historical world to point out how ridiculous it all is.

The wikileaks leak coming today will be interesting, as many more people are questioning the events of the "coup" particularly the pre-prepared arrest list.
