The Daily Mail is the only paper, other than the FT, not to feature, at least a picture of, Jo Cox on its front page following the conviction of a white, right wing terrorist for her murder.

The Mail supported Mosley and the black shirts in the 1930s. It's a nasty, right wing rag. Its treatment of the Jo Cox story is only to be expected.

At a guess-

1. Arrests don't lead to many convictions.

2. A conviction amounts to a slap on the wrist, as compared to some cultures.

3. The right to self-defense has largely been gutted.

I was reading this article and was stunned. While not directly on point, it shows a crowd of children (really feral teens) attacking and stomping a police officer. One arrest despite dozens of participants. Don't know much about the guy but tough act to follow that's for sure. You say we have Brexit Baz but at this rate it seems the fight will go on for years. The prime motivations of Leave voters were immigration and sovereignty, with the ability to control the first most at risk of being kept out of UK hands.

Depending on how it all pans out, UKIP could see a huge protest vote at the next election in the same way the SNP did. Farage would be the man in my opinion to lead the party in that but I don't really know what his game is at the moment. Like Boris he seems forever eager to take centre stage but simultaneously weary of the bruising and battering.

It's funny really how focus seems to always be on "hatred" spread by the Daily Mail and co. The real intimidation tactics in modern politics come from left-wing foot soldiers in my opinion. Farage and his family were chased out of his local pub by protestors who then jumped on his car, and says his kids get bullied. Johnson had a crowd camped outside his house giving him abuse after the referendum result. Does the same kind of thing happen to Corbyn? Doubtful, it certainly happens to his Labour rivals!

This insidious targeting approach of aspects of the hard left causes the right to have to recycle their figureheads a bit more often in my opinion.

Ukip are a shambles, riven by infighting (literally in the case of Steven Woolfe), the previous leader something James lasted 18 days and they've had to scrape the bottom of their barrel to come up with Paul Nuttall, a particularly offensive piece of work who has a burning ideological hatred of the NHS which he wrote about on his blog and has since tried to delete without success! Apparently he wants the NHS replaced by a US style private insurance system which says all you need to know about a party that is actually nastier than the Nasty party currently in power.
