Anybody else cutting down on drinking ? I decided to cut down after the New Year Celebrations. I hadn't had a drop until I had a can last night. I didn't enjoy it all so I'll be carrying on for the foreseeable future.

Stopped drinking a while ago due to Crohn's diagnosis, don't miss it at all. I still have the odd tipple when out but never drink at home. I only ever really drank as a social thing anyway, and just limit my drinking to sensible levels when I'm out these days.

I meant what I said in the New Year thread haha. Not touched a drop since NYE humbled me.

Snap. Not too serious a case I hope.

Do you have many triggers? Too much alcohol and rich food is all that sets me off. Mine is pretty mild usually, still getting over my Xmas excesses though.

I'd say mine is on the mild side too, based on cases I've seen on other forums. Caffeine, red meat and excessive alcohol are the main triggers I've identified, though it seems like almost anything can set it off sometimes. Obviously goes without saying that hard to digest food is something I try to avoid! Hopefully we'll both have a (relatively) healthy year chief!

Good luck with that TS. Interesting that you didn't enjoy it, because I stick to the same tipple and always think it tastes vile the first time I have any after a lay-off. Doesn't stop me continuing though!

Mine is ulcerative colitis, often triggered by fruit and vegetables, particularly tomatoes or tomato based sauces, which is a bugger as many of the things I enjoy contain tomatoes.

I've got an Hiatus Hernia so the list of things I shouldn't eat or drink is as long as your arm. Tomatoes is just one. Chocolate, spicy food, cheese, orange juice,I could go on and on.

One doctor said I shouldn't eat after 6.00 PM and drink after 8.00 PM ! Very useful.

Another doctor said I should give up all alcohol. I said " Will I live longer Doctor ? " . He said " Not really Tyrone, but it'll certainly feel like it ".

Ha ha brilliant! As well as ulcerative colitis I had a heart attack playing football when I was 38. All the things I'm meant to eat and drink for a healthy heart play havoc with my UC! At the end of the day it is all about balance I suppose, so I'll carry on with a pint in one hand and a dram in the other!

I can't drink spirits or wine so I don't. I'll had a beer or two pretty often in the past though. I'm out in Spain at the moment and I drink " Mosto " which is un fermented wine, it's OK and it's 1 Euro for a big bottle.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35326090

So women in parts of Germany are now in danger at carnivals and also if they want to go swimming. Wonder where else they'll start being targeted. Can anyone else see the path this is leading down? Talk about erosion of western values, they're currently getting a wrecking ball taken to them in Germany.

And something that's not mentioned is how much is this all costing the state there? Huge swathes of police resources, social workers, compensation for victims, increased security at every entertainment venue you can think of, funding for whatever large-scale schemes they're gonna have to drum up to try and change the behaviour of these men. And that'a not even starting on resources needed to combat the increased terror threat.

A lot of the people who wanted us to take as many asylum seekers as Germany also seem to be of the persuasion that the government should be spending more money on schools, the NHS, the welfare state etc. Well honestly how on earth can we afford the whole lot? Is there some infinite pot of money the government is hiding somewhere? Because the £1.6 trillion debt would suggest otherwise!

Alot of the people who did not want us to take as many asylum seeks as Germany also seem to be of the persuasion that government should be spending as little as possible on schools, the NHS and the welfare state. Well honestly, how can we spend money on the them when those same people are happy to spend hundreds of millions carpet bombing Isis? Don't they know there is no infinite pot of money because we have £1.5 trillion worth of debt caused by those very same people who have borrowed more in the past 6 years than the previous government ever did in its entire history and the very same people who think kicking the poor for the excesses of the rich is acceptable? Strange isn't it ?

Has anyone actually said that? If not, then yeah you are trolling.

It was definitely said around the time of the beheadings in Sept/Oct 2014. It felt a ridiculous thing to say at the time so I can see why it stuck with Abbey.

I find it hard to believe someone on here genuinely said that. If you can find the post, I'll gladly admit I was wrong.

Even if one person did say something like that, its still just 1 person on a forum of 100s(though its more like just a few dozen on this side of the site but still)

Its still a stuid thing to keep saying, especially when the persob sayong it isnt offering a reasobable alterative(other than 'nuke em' and dumb stuff like that)
