People don't seem to understand that if nutjobs want to blow @#/? up, they'll blow @#/? up.

You can increase security as much as you like, they're gonna find a way.

Only surprise to me is it hasn't happened more often. Brussels have certainly had enough warning and now its happened.

Enlighten us - How do we stop them? because I don't know - Close down all airports and stations ? We couldn't stop the IRA and they weren't intent on blowing themselves up along with the rest of us.

But an armed policeman isn't going to stop someone walking up with a rucksack full of explosives and setting them off next to him - London and the Tube is full of people carrying rucksacks to work every day, myself included. I've no idea if one of those is packed with paraquat and nails or just gym kit - The armed copper may make you feel safer, but it doesn't make you safer.

Well I feel safer on the tube with armed police visible

I can tell you from experience that armed police do not make a city feel safer.

I was living in Copenhagen at the time of the shootings there last year (literally just round the corner from the synagogue) and presence of armed police everywhere in the following weeks had everyone on edge.

Obviously I know why they had to be there so it's not a complaint, just making the point that living in daily sight of armed police is definitely not something that makes you feel safe.

Abbey might want you interned just in case. Or shot if you happen to have a beard. Soldiers on the street never stopped the murders in Northern Ireland, checkpoints and ID checks will grind cities to a halt and building holding camps across Europe for Muslims is too much like you-know-who. I admit I have no answers, but I know that religion is becoming a regressive mental illness rather than an inspiration to positive behaviour.

How do you fight an unseen enemy?

Exactly. I doubt this war against Islamic terrorism will ever end. Last week it was referred to as a "major blow" for the terrorists when one of the major figures behind the latest Paris attacks was caught. Really it made no difference just like Osama Bin Laden's death hasn't destroyed Al-Qaeda.

Some people may simplify the situation (probably most Sun readers) but you can't just "stop" these people or use the same methods that ended WW1/WW2.

As for Belgium, I don't mean to be critical of them at this time; but I thought it was somewhat known that there programme to crack down on terrorism, gather information was not that strong, especially on that "Moltenbeek" neighbourhood where apparently that one Paris terrorist suspect hid largely out in the open.

Er don't swear at me I have not sworn at you !!
