Backroom Mike E Posted May 9, 2016 Backroom Posted May 9, 2016 Good to hear the award winners at the Baftas having a go at the Tories, another u-turn in the offing maybe, when will they learn: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-3579696/Culture-Secretary-bullying-BBC-briefing-charter-renewal-paper.html Bit annoyed at BAFTA. Left Frank Finlay and Alan Rickman out of their tribute to 'those we've lost this year'. Glad Peter Kay twice tried to make a point about stupid long speeches.

Great indication of the ability to compromise in my opinion, a word I suspect the likes of Corbyn and McDonnell have never even heard of.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 9, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted May 9, 2016 Sadiq Khan did a funny about getting a visit in to the US as he wont be able to go if Trump is elected. Made me chuckle anyway....
adopted scouser Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Manchester United's team bus attacked by West Ham fans, that bad the game has been put back to 8.30pm. They're letting this lot have the Olympic Stadium ?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 10, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted May 10, 2016 Worse still, our taxes are paying for it!

Great indication of the ability to compromise in my opinion, a word I suspect the likes of Corbyn and McDonnell have never even heard of. Great indication of no principles in most people's eyes. The Tories are specialists at it - they've done 9 in this parliament already.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Great indication of no principles in most people's eyes. The Tories are specialists at it - they've done 9 in this parliament already. Not sure I've ever heard someone so frequently refer to his opinion as most people. Rest assured Jim, your opinion is definitely not most peoples. But then if election results don't convince you of that, I suppose nothing will.
jim mk2 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Good grief, a lecture from someone who thinks wogs start at Calais and the cure for terrorism is to nuke them out of existence. There speaks of man of principles.
Baz Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Cut out the insults guys, just debate the points. If Jim is right and the Tories have had to change 9 policies within the first 12 months of the parliament, despite being in a majority position, it's pretty damming of their policies. Whilst others call it 'listening' I'd call it bad judgment.
jim mk2 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Old Etonian oaf David Cameron (my opinion) has put his foot in it again today (most people's opinion) according to the right wing (my opinion) BBC news by insulting Nigeria ahead of a diplomatic visit to Downing Street. The mendacous and unctuous Cameron (my opinion) called Nigeria "fantastically corrupt" (true but not as corrupt as the Tory govt) in front of the Queen - thereby confirming (most people's) view that he's not fit for office and his likely departure in the event of a Brexit is perhaps the only reason for voting to leave the EU (my opinion)

They're doing U-turns every week SKH, you have to ask the question how do these stupid policies get so far in the first place? In any other industry heads would have rolled.

Backroom Mike E Posted May 11, 2016 Backroom Posted May 11, 2016 Your opinion is wrong and it is not most peoples opinion that Cameron is not fit for office (my opinion) I believe the whole team of Cameron, Osbourne, Hunt, and Morgan is actively trying to destroy anything good about our country. They are deliberately making the jobs of those in Education and Health very hard and virtually untenable, discrediting millions of highly educated professionals. That is on top of contributing to the deaths of disabled people. They are doing an awful job in parliament imo, but the sad fact is, the only parties with SOME sensible policies are now at the political extremes (Labour, UKIP, Greens).

I find it impossible to believe that any government would deliberately and actively try to destroy anything good about the country they govern. You may think they are doing a poor job but surely you can't believe it is deliberate. I voted for them and would do so again but even I have to admit that they have made some mistakes but whatever they have done it must be infinitely better than the disarray of the alternative. Has somebody upset you today Mike?

To be honest, the cynic in me has told me the same about the NHS for a while. Heck, Jeremy Hunt even co-wrote a book on how to dismantle the NHS..... (I'd be careful putting too much faith in UKIP as well, their general secretary described the NHS as a 'Reichstag Socialist Bunker')..... I just don't get the approach of Nicky Morgan to education, not to mention her lack of suitability for her role. Wasn't she a lawyer? No experience in that field at all!

Has somebody upset you today Mike? Nobody could do it so poorly and not intentionally. I'd equate them to Burnley fans running Ewood, it's that bad. They refuse to listen to the highly educated professionals (more educated in their fields than any MP in any field) and stand to indirectly make money via their business partners. They are trying to please the elite and their friends above the good of everyone in the country. Believe me, I'm no lefty. I may even lean right a little. But the Tory government suck. Nick Morgan in particular has repeatedly proven herself to be out of touch, yesterday telling schools they mustn't celebrate the end of these ridiculously hard SAT tests with parties. God help her own children if that's how she treats 10 year olds.

As an educator myslef I can understand how frustrating it can be when politics gets in the way of capable and professional teaching.Throw the party anyway - teach how you want and apologise later if needed.

Indeed haha, must've woken up on the wrong side this morning. As an NQT (still on supply), it's dispiriting to have so much mess.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 They're doing U-turns every week SKH, you have to ask the question how do these stupid policies get so far in the first place? In any other industry heads would have rolled. Stupid in your opinion. In other industries the policies would fly through and any opposition would be crushed. As a public sector worker (which I assume you are), you should rejoice at the power you all have in forcing your boss (the government) to do a U-turn. Its power nobody in the private sector has had for decades. Today a woman at PWC got sent home for not wearing high heels, and you think you're treated badly!
joey_big_nose Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 What is bizarre is the Tories are pursuing really aggressive policies - eg. Academisation of all schools, the "7 day NHS" - but the evidence to justify these strategies just isn't there, nor the public support. Why are they doing these things? It's not a huge leap of logic to think the motivation lies far away from a desire for good governance.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I see Osbourne's " March Of The Makers " is going well. Manufacturing on the slide again. This lot don't even know what manufacturing means any more. Lawyers, Spin doctors, Hedge fund jockeys, how many of them have ever made anything in there lives ?
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 They want to break the NHS and privatise it, giving mates rates to the companies that fund the Tories. The NHS as a basic concept is popular though, so they dare not clearly state it. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/oct/03/healthcare-companies-links-tories-nhs-contracts http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/selling-nhs-profit-full-list-4646154 http://www.hsj.co.uk/mps-links-with-private-health-companies-and-why-they-matter/5078148.fullarticle http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-hunt-privatise-nhs-tories-privatising-private-insurance-market-replacement-direct-democracy-a6865306.html Same with schools : http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tory-donors-academy-school-advertises-5639137 https://www.tes.com/news/school-news/breaking-news/private-firms-cream-%C2%A380-million-free-schools-and-academies-report http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/9794202/Two-major-Conservative-donors-appointed-to-government.html http://schoolsweek.co.uk/academy-big-guns-boost-campaign-coffers/

Like our amazing privatised rail network.
