I think schools have gone very over the top in terms of closing but it seems to be off the back of that youngster who died when she fell and hit her head.

Saying that, the weather was bad where I am working and none of the teachers live within 10 miles of the school. I made it there no bother but I like a bit of fun in the old quattro.

TEACHERS!!!!

All those not working today - you're just a bunch of scivers.

And don't go hiding behind that 'elf an safety cr@p.

Everybody else manages, 96 year old lady gets to 10am hair appointment, food deliveries get through, example: meat delivery from Otley to Rishton butchers arrived on time this morning.

Somebody needs to sort these lead swingers out.

On top of this, half a dozen schools (inc QEGS) that opened, shut at dinner due to 'continuing bad weather forecast'. It was bloody melting!

I imagine it isn't individual teachers within a school, all of whom you've branded as skivers, but a decision taken by the head. It certainly was at my kids' school.

Pleased to see the 96 year old woman didn't slip in the snow, break her hip and require a trip to A&E.

I imagine you're right Paul. Then the heads need taking to task. The rest of the staff can't wait for the next snow shower. Wrap yourself in cotton wool poor lamb.

Exactly the roads were passable if you were a competent driver .

bur as usual when it snows the incompetent drivers slow everything down, cause a lot of congestion and accidents which effects the competent drivers, it took me 30 minutes to make what is normally jist under a 10 minute drive to work because for half the way i had a taxi in front of me that clearly had shoddy tyres and couldn't touch the brakes without skidding and the rest of the way i had people in front of me going 5mph max even though the road(bolton rd) wasn't to bad. The 4x4 drivers make me laugh, they finally get some real weather to deal with but don't even have confidence to put their cars or their driving ability to the test so drive just as slowly and poorly as everybody else(and watching them trying to get their heavy beasts up steep hills made me smile smugly, tossers)

Come on Tom it was a dusting . Cars stuck was down to incompetent drivers . If it wasn't a dusting why had it all gone just after dinner.

Must have been very localised. It certainly wasn't a dusting round our way and it didn't clear until late evening. The weather has been bonkers for four months and it's killing grassroots football in East Lancs.

Ofgem fines npower £26m for poor customer service and inaccurate invoicing. 2500

npower employees lose their jobs to pay for it.

Just goes to show how frigging pointless some aspects of regulation are. If ofgem wants to hit npower it should make sure it hits the shareholders and not the workforce.

Npower is owned by RWE, the German energy giant, whose shares have more than halved in value over the past 2 years so shareholders have already taken a hit. Ofgem is a toothless regulator anyway. The real culprit is the Tory privatisation programme which has seen our energy companies, railways, telecomms and anything else that isn't nailed down sold off to their friends and fat cats in the private sector and then flogged off again via the stockmarket to foreign companies. Whole swathes of national infrastructure are now owned, by the French, Germans, Dutch, Chinese and others, all in the name of right wing ideology.

Npower were abysmal. That fine should be passed on to the customers. My wife spent hours, upon hours sorting out the mess that they caused. From my personal experience it is a totally sub-standard organisation.

Count your blessings. It takes me about a month to see my GP!

I've been suffering from a bit of Sciatica for a week now so I decided to try and get an appointment at my GP's. I've put off trying before now because I know exactly what's coming. Anyway I start phoning constantly at 8-30, engaged tone, I get through at about 8-55. The lady says " Can you hold on ? " and puts the phone down instantly. About 5 minutes later she comes back, presumably nobody else can get through during this time.

I ask for an appointment today - " All taken " . I say " How about tomorrow ? ". " All taken also, I can give you an appointment at our out of town surgery on Friday ".

Then she says " Is it urgent ? ". I say " Yes it is really, I've been in pain for a week now and I think that's enough ".

She says " Well in that case I can get you a timed appointment for 11.00 today at the local A & E department."

I say " That's fine ".

So there we are, that's a new one on me. I'll let you know how I go on.

If it is just sciatica all they can really do is prescribe you some painkillers anyway

I knew that, I just wanted to have my self diagnosis confirmed by a professional.

Anyway I arrived at my A & E at 10-50 and was told to take a seat. There were about twenty people waiting. At 11-00 on the dot the door opened, my name was called, and I was ushered through to see a Doctor. I was followed by a few angry glares.

The Doctor examined me and confirmed my thoughts, she gave me several leaflets regarding medication and exercises and at 11-10 I was limping home.

I suffered with sciatica for 4 years until I went to an osteopath in Clayton. He cured me in a month. That particular one has moved away now but I am sure another one can help. Not cheap but worth it if a cure can be found.

Thanks Al and TJ, it started about a month ago. Since then I've had it off and on most of the time. When it's on it's bloody painful and I can't get about as much as I'd like.

I removed the one above because it duplicated the other thread you'd created. As for why that post was removed, I don't know, I didn't do that one!

Is 'm.g.' active on the board again? Personally i think if the venkys dont want to communicate directly with the fans thats their choice(all be it a cowardish one) but i dont like it when they send their puppets like mg out sniffing on their behalf.

Why lock that one... The question remains .. Why delete my questions twice? And lock a perfectly good question in ask admin?????

I'd guess as the question wasn't on topic, you're asking the question in here anyway.

As for the posts being removed, Rover Shaun has asked the same question in response to a post from Sergei which was on topic and that hasn't been removed.

For once in total agreement TJ .

Makes you wonder why posts got deleted .

Fair do's K as long as that rule is adhered to. I take it that EVERY post off topic on EVERY thread will be deleted .

If it is then why was a Preston fan allowed to call me a weirdo and question my personality .That was not on topic ,yet question a venky employee and it gets deleted? something stinks to high heaven.

Like I said, Shaun (not you!) questioned it and that wasn't removed. The PNE questions were dealt with and there was plenty of mud slinging from both sides there, let's have it right!

There is absolutely no conspiracy or any chance of any bias towards anything Venky's, irrespective of what you're suggesting. It just isn't true.
