If you book about 6 weeks in advance you can get first class for around £40. Anything less than a week and you may as well just fly down!

Got to the office 20 minutes before the end of my 11 o clock meeting! Still got a free brew so all wasn't lost.

Not sure on the delay repay they said it was automatic on my ticket type but was booked through work portal so I won't see the benefit sadly.

It is only automatic if booked through the virgin website. We use a work portal too and because of that you can do the manual one on their site. If you email them at customer.relations@virgintrains.co.uk you can even get it as a cheque instead of vouchers, paid directly to you, as it was you who was inconvenienced. None of it goes back to your workplace.

There's a coach you can catch that takes you to London for around a tenner or less each way, very early morning departure and looong journey though(but if it saves you hundreds compared to the train i personally know which id choose) i think it is megabus.com, theres also the national express

Indeed it is Megabus though I haven't personally used the service yet. Can't say stories like this provide me much encouragement to do so.

I agree, I nearly got knocked down crossing a pedestrian crossing a while back. Two women ( I think ) driving a Merc all in black with just the usual eye slit. If they had have hit me how could I have identified the driver ? It should be illegal to drive a car with your face covered.

For all Saudi Arabia's backwardness and idiocy, banning women drivers there proved to be a bit of common sense. There must be very little peripheral vision when you're wearing the full burka/niqab/abaya.

It's like sensory deprivation. I've sometimes wear a duffle coat. I hate going out in bad weather with the hood up because of the effect it has on your sideways vision and your hearing.

The playoffs of the National Hockey League begin Wednesday, if the Washington Capitals who have been stellar can win it all with their longtime Russian Star, Alex Ovechkin; I'd be happy. Otherwise, I'm not too happy with the playoff schedule.

Or Blues, St. Louis Blues I've liked since I was a kid though, they must be an outsider.

I would not take away a thing from the teams that made it; though, it looks like the NY Islanders and Minnesota Wild are largely looking like pushovers.
