Hey, it's an excuse for lazy (or simply uninclinced) people to exercise! And it's getting agoraphobics and PTSD veterans out the house, so it's good for mental health too!

How is chasing and catching imaginary friends good for mental health ? I once got chased by an imaginary mars bar whilst on magic mushrooms , hey I exercised so alls good

Because instead of being institutionalised in their own homes, they're going out and talking to people.

Grown-ups do a lot of things that some would consider infantile. Harry Potter is aimed at tweens, computer games were originally aimed at a similar age, people even started organising giant water fights and the like back in the early days of FB.

I used to pompously criticise it but they're not harming anyone, isn't it the great thing about western society that you're free to do whatever you want within the law.
