Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 16, 2016 Author Moderation Lead Posted July 16, 2016 Oh aye, I agree with you, it's just such a waste of time. Loads of people that go, just shift their finds on eBay as well!
Backroom Tom Posted July 16, 2016 Backroom Posted July 16, 2016 I know for a fact from someone that used to work there that the Next 'sale' is stuff they can't usually shift and just price really low in order to get rid....Surely this is the nature of 99% of salesBecause you may not want something at £20 doesn't mean it's not a good buy at £10. I wouldn't dream of going myself but Nikki been relatively early before and got stuff half price we had looked at buying not long before.
Al Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Just sat through another episode of masterchef (I don't really watch it but my husband likes it) and I have to say that watching John Torode eat makes me feel physically sick. I don't know what he does but yuk! Yes. Eats like a pig comes to mind. I don't watch many cookery programmes except James Martin. There's an exception to every rule
yoda Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Hey, it's an excuse for lazy (or simply uninclinced) people to exercise! And it's getting agoraphobics and PTSD veterans out the house, so it's good for mental health too! Didn't take the scumbags long to sus it out http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-36814688

Amo Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Yes you can. The council have a duty to investigate noise pollution Yeah but it's a long, drawn out affair where you have to keep noise diaries for weeks on end. And sod's law, when they actually send someone out, the culprits are silent. It probably works in extreme examples, if some scally is playing D'n'B from dusk till dawn but when someone's making loud, intermittent noise it's harder to clamp down on.

One of the most difficult things for my housing officers to resolve.

And there's @#/? all you can do about it in this country. When we lived in Lancaster there used to be a neighbor who would be like this every night. Used to invite friends round late and night and party whilst we tried to sleep. After fall out's what they had with each other we kept a brief diary and pictures of it and submitted it to the council whilst other residents called the police reguarly.
oldjamfan1 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 How easy it is to deal with may depend on their tenure. Owners are notoriously difficult to resolve.

Others are littering, dog muck, bad driving, people picking flowers from parks, possibly shop-lifting, possibly fly-tipping, I'm sure there are countless others. But in particular I'd say noise and littering are huge ones. These low-level crimes are mainly prevented by a sense of civic duty in my opinion. Most people know they can get away with doing it so it's what percentage decide to be decent people, show some pride in their neighbourhood/town/country and some consideration for their fellow citizens, and decide not to do it whether they have a chance of getting caught or not. Obviously it's very area-dependent around the country but on the whole I'd say the percentage with this sense of civic duty is less than it used to be and personally I think it's every bit as damaging as poverty on an area if you have too many people taking the selfish a-hole approach to their environment and society. There are architecturally stunning areas of Blackburn, especially with recent funding, and plenty of pokey bungalows and ancient damp-riddled cottages and terraces in say Clitheroe/Mellor, but the latter are considered hugely more desirable place to live because of how people behave there. I feel for you though, putting up with that there are days when I'd want to go round with a large, blunt object.

There's a bin on most streets, dustbins, pockets til you get home, but nope much better to make the place I live look crap. I applaud people with bigger balls than I have who force people to pick their litter up or throw it back at them.

Was parked outside a friend's house waiting for him to come footy the other day and his next door neighbour had ordered a takeaway. The takeaway driver rocked up, delivered it, and as he was walking back to the car casually chucked what I assume was the receipt onto the floor before getting in his car. It was done in such a blasé manner and he was driving off in a matter of seconds so I just didn't react. Spent the next 2 minutes fuming about not doing though. Its disgusting/pathetic. If I could be Bruce Almighty for the day I'd have a refuse truck dump its entire morning collection through his house window.

gumboots Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Have to put this somewhere so here is as good a place as any. My current "hate" is the fact that the uber positive minority on here now rule the roost. There is a reason people like me who have always tried to be even handed, who have wanted to give everyone a chance until they proved they weren't worth it, have become so negative. It's because there is little to nothing to be positive about. Well I'm sorry but this club is going to hell in a handcart, and if my negativity can't stop it nor can your determined positivity. I think anyone who really expects anything better than a relegation whimper this season is deluded. There I've used that word again. Clap all you want, be there all you want but you'll be lucky if our team even makes a fight of it
