Neal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I was just thinking that the other day. To me he looks to have bags of raw potential. Can Lambert bring it out?. One of the accusations that always seemed to get lobbed in his direction was alleged lack of fitness and ability to last 90 mins. Once again, hopefully Lambert can improve the fitness of the team as a whole.. Even if he isn't match fit then I hope he gets some minutes in 2nd half... Only way he'll get match fit.

Backroom Tom Posted November 20, 2015 Author Backroom Posted November 20, 2015 I want to see what we saw in his first couple of appearances, he was unpredictable; maybe a little wild but looked dangerous but since then he seemed to stop shooting from distance.
Neal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 This guy is an absolute menace from what I've seen. I think his finishing leaves a lot to be desired. But in terms of moving opposition defences out of position and creating space for Rhodes, he'll do nicely. Also, if we're playing this pressing game then he looks up for that too. Although like rev said, I'm not sure if he'll burn himself out after 60 mins. His qualities seem rather obvious to everyone when he plays, can hit a shot, some pace and physicality... Surely Lambert is seeing these things in training too?
joey_big_nose Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Well considering he is one of only three strikers at the club, and one of those is Chris Brown, Lambert will have to play him at somepoint. I reckon he's got a lot to offer when fit. Quick, physical, mobile, decent in the air.Don't think he will score many but will create opportunities.
LDRover Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I'd love him to prove me wrong but, blimey, he looked clueless today. Lowest point was a 2 v 1 with Guthrie late on and rather than peel away to make the defender commit to the ball and leave himself a tap in he ran towards the ball and left no option at all. He worked hard though I'll give him that.

He worked hard though I'll give him that. He didn't help Guthrie as he ran across him when he should have been going away from him. I'm still not sure what he was thinking but inadequacies like that can be coached. On the plus side the two yellow cards for the sending off were for fouls on him.

It was a poor run in that opportunity but the lad has hardly played and to be fair just his sheer pace and size immediately effected the game. Marsh played a poor pass in which he'd have been clean through, and he showed some decent movement in that instance. A few occasions he held it up and drew a foul to relieve some pressure, some more consistent game time and I truly believe he'll be an important player for us.
Backroom Tom Posted November 21, 2015 Author Backroom Posted November 21, 2015 Superb work by him to draw the second yellow and help us win the game
Backroom DE. Posted November 21, 2015 Backroom Posted November 21, 2015 I've never seen him in the flesh but he always sounds like a handful. Ideally in January we'll shift Brown (we don't need two strikers at the club who don't score goals) and bring in a striker with a few other qualities to give us some extra options in attack.
donnermeat Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I think Guthrie should have played it to him earlier personally, when there was still space to run into.
LewisF Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 I think Guthrie should have played it to him earlier personally, when there was still space to run into.i agree. but when Guthrie didn't, Koita should've still continued running to his left instead of drifting towards him
Rover_Shaun Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Now we've made a small amount of money on this player (about £120k after wages) it gives me hope that there is a buyer somewhere for all the rest of the deadlegs. Making profit on a player who cannot hit a barn door with a banjo from 6 inches is good going. Maybe Deadly Derek should be making contacts in China after the Ramires transfer...hmmmm!
J*B Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Ramires blows my mind. At 28, with 4 years on a Chelsea contract at over 100k a well - how can the money of China be worth spending the next few years of your life in your prime as a footballer playing against @#/? opponents with no real opportunities? I can understand going to the US at 33, but how money orientated do you have to be to play in China?
Lancaster Rover Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 If you've been dirt poor in Brazil for a large part of your life I can see the sense in putting money first to be honest.

He's on 100k a week at Chelsea, on a 4 year deal - a guaranteed 20.8m. After tax, 10m - and thats without any additional sponsorship deals that he has. 10m gaurenteed, with the 12m he's already worth according to http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-athletes/richest-soccer/ramires-net-worth/is 22m. How much money do you need? Who can't fund their next 5 generations with 22m quid? How can you need more?
donnermeat Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I've been thinking the same, in the prime of his career too. They must be getting brown envelopes too, surely.

Backroom Tom Posted January 29, 2016 Author Backroom Posted January 29, 2016 Lambert pretty brutal on Fode http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14238741.Paul_Lambert__Blackburn_Rovers_need_to_attract_better_players_than__homesick__Fode_Koita/
Stuart Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Lambert is an absolute breath of fresh air. "No more Mr Nice Guy".

Backroom Tom Posted January 29, 2016 Author Backroom Posted January 29, 2016 Makes you wonder if he's the same with current players and why some of them seem to be sulky
BlueMonday Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Individual players simply not good enough and Lambert not afraid to say so. That's why there are so many dummies on the floor.
donnermeat Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Go on Lambert! Wonder what he will have to say about Chris Brown after we don't renew his contract?
arbitro Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Lambert pretty brutal on Fode http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14238741.Paul_Lambert__Blackburn_Rovers_need_to_attract_better_players_than__homesick__Fode_Koita/ Brutal but honest and absolutely correct. When I read that I thought back to Lamberts 'accepting mediocrity' interview. There will be quite a few others to follow Koita out of the door hopefully.
