Boro are gambling that spending all this money now will get them promoted there by escaping any punishment by being a premier league side or failing that QPR's challenge is sucessful and they don't get punished if they stay down which will happen at a time when we have sold all our best players trying to comply with a system that will only ever punish us and Forest.

The transfer embargo's for both us and Forest should have been suspended pending the outcome of the QPR case.

I've never known somebody get so ahead of themselves as you do. He's not gone yet and we've been in this situation before, until he's pictured holding up another teams shirt on SkySports, chill out and worry about something else

We have never been in this situation before though, it feels like it's about to happen , withe hull it never felt like this

I hated Alex Ferguson but he did a hell of a good job for Man Utd

I can acknowledge that b*rnly are a well run club but I won't hold them up as a 'fine example' of anything unless it's as a bunch of inbred @#/?.

How many Rhodes must a man walk down?? The Rhodes saga rumbles on...personally i wouldnt sell, the chap is a goal machine, look at the damage he has done with average service, imagine if we adjusted our game and catered to Rhodes and his ability..we defo need to keep hold of one of our stikers...they have done there bit for rovers, shame majority of the team hasnt...

Losing Gestede is to some degree beyond our control. There is clearly interest from at least one Premier League side and him and his agent have made repeated noises about wanting to move. Other than keep a player sulking there isn't much Rovers can do other than try to get as much cash as possible.

Rhodes is different. We aren't talking about a step up here. We're talking about a club that last season finished 5 places above us and who are playing at the same level as us. If they had just gone up to the Premier league then the situation would be very different, but as it is Bowyer and the club should be planning how we are going to finish above Middlesbrough next season. Never mind all this stuff about them having a better chance of promotion, its our job to try and get above them, not roll over and accept they are going to be above us after 46 games before a ball has been kicked.

Bowyer will know that with the likely departure of Gestede that if Rhodes goes to then the club is going to struggle big time whilst under the embargo. League One would be highly likely with what we have left over and our position in the transfer market.

Whilst I don't trust him, even Shaw would surely understand the ramifications of losing a 40 goal strikeforce this summer. Is it really worth risking League One?

Why would you sell if he is a goal machine and we need to keep hold of a striker?

Absolutely not.

Not really, they are arguing the nature of how the money was given to the club, ours is clear and black and white, its an interest free loan.

QPR argue that there's was effectively a gift that does need not be repaid and no repayments were structured, therefore its not a debt to be considered a loss/drain on the clubs books as it does need to be paid back.

Appearing well run or at least far better than us but they did go up spend nothing then come back down only to sell their best player just like last time. They'll try and go up again by spending nowt yet again. Seems good business but what the hell do they do with all that money ? Oh yeah they painted the wooden seats in the Cricket shed end to make them look plastic...........

They're well run alright but I reckon plenty others are benefiting from it more than the club :rover:

Is that allowed in the rules?

I'm not entirely convinced by the Rhodes nonsense in the papers. Particularly some people's understanding of Venkys intentions.

Some people are convinced that Venkys will up sticks and leave as soon as money in taken and that is why they want it up front and not in performance related add ons.

The thing I understand is that Venkys want all the money because there are no guarantees that monies would come in.

Surely Boro will have some sort of promotion clause, a goal amount clause, stay in the top flight clause, International game clause... And they aren't guaranteed!

Personally I would rather keep him... Work with what we have and come out of the embargo in the summer when the relaxed rules and the finances suit us.

It never felt like what? With Hull Rhodes was gone, Bowyer and Shaw had accepted the bid and it was eventually decided by Balaji that he wouldn't be sold. This time it's a load of BS rumours coming from the sun that Middlesbrough, a team in the same division as us are going to splash out £14m on a player, when they shouldn't be able to under FFP. We haven't even accepted a bid so I don't see why you're getting your knickers in a twist
