One thing it does do is make a mockery of those who said we had missed the boat by turning Hull's bid down last year and that never again would we get a similar offer for Rhodes.

What nonsense that has turned out to be.

Simple situation really - Premier League club wants him then let him go. Championship clubs no way.

There's no such thing as a good deal for BRFC when we can't spend a penny on a replacement and run the very real risk of being in League One if both strikers leave.

Mockery?

That we selling him then would have allowed us to reduce the wage bill significantly, pocketed the transfer fee, played Gestede and King as our partnership and maybe invested in better midfielders or defenders.

After all not selling him has worked out well hasn't it!

We must surely have a good case for a work permit appeal. Our situation, and the limitations we face on bringing in players, is unprecedented in the modern era.

Surely the fact that he has already been playing in English football since 2012 works in Kim's favour.

Invest in better players? At what point during Venkys era have we done that? Every player has been worse than the last. The current transfer policy is where we are now at as a club not just because of the embargo but because of FUP. We cannot invest because we don't have the 'natural' income (whatever the f that means) and we don't have the wherewithal to challenge FUP to help us use owner money to do so.

Saying that not being able to spend takes all the pressure off Bowyer, so why would he want to challenge it? The cost of legal action is dwarfed by the amounts of losses and player wages now that we don't have PL income.

We cannot invest now but last summer we could

Whether they ballsed that investment up is something slightly different

But I reckon it wouldn't have taken too £££s to improve our midfield last season

Selling JR. now is a slightly different proposition but advocating selling to hull 12 mths ago for £12m has not proved to be mockery as was conjecture

Villa bid is 6 mil rising to 8 mil with add ons according the Sun report. Written by Greame Bryce

Can honestly see that being a goer making it all the more appropriate to keep JR

A decent manager would get the midfielders scoring a few more though imo.

And Rhodes would have scored more last season if the service had been better.

I look at it like this, a decent manager would have us conceding less - removing the desperate need for a 40 goal plus strike partnership.

Board judged on profit and loss,

If rovers kept both players, failed to go up again , they may find themselves under an embargo for a long long time.

Truth is we need some serious cash or risk not being a club that can function.

So the advice to them is based on trying to plug financial deficit whilst cash on table.

My issue is , its a short term fix as losses will continue to rack up in the millions and come next season , what is actually left to sell?

I saw the ff minutes today and they have asked some questions

Im told the Action Group also met with club but not seen any minutes or indeed any committee minutes for well over a year which would suggest that Ewood getting a fairly easy time at present , which is most disappointing. Communucation coming out the club is poor and it appears any supporter representation has alligned itself with the club rather than the worried supporters who are in greater numbers than those content with what they are seeing unfold under their eyes.

Im under no illussions , i strongly believe organic protest from the stands are on the cards this season if things start badly due to key player sales.

I'll organically protesting at Gaz if he tries parking the bus for 40 minutes against 10 men again!

I've just read the LT article on the Kim transfer. You can understand the reasoning and aims behind the new rules but you would hope common sense would be used. There's a difference between bringing someone in from abroad after these new rules were brought in, or denying Kim, who is already here, a work permit.

If it was denied, it would mean that he would effectively be kicked out of the country where he has lived and played for the last few years purely because South Korea lost or drew a couple of football games in the last 12 months to place them below 50 in the FIFA rankings. Very harsh.

To be honest you have to question any system which affect people's livelihoods based on the joke that is the FIFA world rankings.

I dont actually think from top to bottom they have a plan

There lies the problem

The team was not good enough last season so i dont think they will be any better this season

What does it say, when the transfer thread is far far busier then the accounts thread?

Anyway, the plan? Im not sure there is a plan that could be successful. Obviously they're trying to make ends meet by selling players at a profit - that seems to be their only answer. However, I posted this on the accounts thread:-

Well like I said, losses of £36m on a turnover of £24m is horrendous. The turnover about to reduce by £8m as well? So if we lose the PP and nothing else changes, we'll lose £44m next year. To be brutally frank, I can't see how we can survive this, - or if we do, where we'll be.

I doubt, even if we were to sell both strikers for £20m, that we would be close to coming out of embargo - and don't forget, that £20m only comes off the losses once.

if Gestede does leave then I would like to see us sign Danny Graham on loan for the season. Graham has been told he can leave Sunderland

Because he was great for Sunderland... Bad, bad move as 1 he doesn't score many and 2 he doesn't contribute anything but goals - no presence, holding up play, creativity. A poor man's Rhodes. Saw him for Carlisle and he wasn't amazing then. Only time has looked decent was in a dominant Watford team. With our sit back style he'd be anonymous.

It's hard to see Villa coming for Rudy before Austin has gone anywhere. Adebayor did well under Sherwood. Rudy could be the third choice. There should be more striker movement after the biggest fish has moved. Someone will splash the cash for Austin but it's possible he starts the season with QPR.

Wonder how long this special application for work permit can take? If Rovers must wait for it for few weeks it means we are late from loan market opening. PL clubs are probably willing to loan their players after the last pre season matches.

No longer than 2 weeks on Footy Manager. In Shaw World...

To me it simply says that the majority of posters on here just want to be football fans rather than get drawn in to the complexities of the financial melt down of the football club, Den. I don't see a great deal wrong with that.

Is Ched Evans still without a club? :)

God don't start that again... Majiball will be back and posting quicker than you can say 'consenting adult'

I'll repeat what I was saying even when Ke*n was here. If on one match day, everybody stayed away from Ewood, the media coverage that would get would so embarass the owners that they would either leave or take real steps to rectify things.

Sooner or later it will happen naturally because things cannot go on as they are.

It's crazy that a bloke can't get a work permit when he has an employer and a contract with a guaranteed wage, of which the tax will contribute to society. I believe that non EU members can claim some of it back when they leave but still.

Austin will cost 15 mil.

Gestede will cost 8 million pounds. Plus Adebayor will cost 2 or 3 million pounds.

This is what is completely unforgivable 5 years is more than long enough to familiarise yourself in running a business and come up with a plan for that business going forward, the fact they still show no interest in doing so, and keep pumping money in shows how foolish they really are.
