Does Bowyer really still think that we are ok at the back? We haven't added anyone to the back line which was shaky at best last season.

That's what baffles me. The defense, particularly the right back position, has been our weak spot for how many years now? Even though Henley did ok at the end of last season and Baptiste was fairly decent there it has been something we've been needing to address for a while now. I cannot for the life of me understand how Boywer thinks he can rely on Henley and Nyambe for a full season. Both young and with potential (at least Nyambe), but I think we might have some real problems there this season (too). What if Henley's form dips and Nyambe does not cope with the pressure...But hey, we always have Lowey and Marshally who can fill in.

  • Backroom

Do we need another winger really?

I would look to bring in centre defender(Liam Moore).

Is Liam Moore good or is this cause we have been linked with him?

Can't say I know much of him

Tom, think the one thing we missing, is a player who could just clucking put their foot in when it comes to a tackle. The Axe use to do that, just became annoying to the opposition, bit their heels, gave some fouls away, but disrupted their momentum. We lack that from our players. not one of them are brave enough to do that. Back in the Hughes days, we were known as the bully boys, now we probably known as the fanny boys

Isn't this why we signed Akpan?

too be honest mate, i think its why we signed Petshi as well. Thats a concern for me, because Guthrie is also capable of being a tough tackling box to box player. At least i think Petshi is a tough tackling robust player. So these signings makes no sense to me, because we now have a situation where players will not be happy sitting on a bench. Im just confused by it all right now

Boro can't afford to bear grudges. They will do what they consider is best for them and the player. If it means letting him come here so he can play and they can get most/all of his wage paid at the same time then I don't think the Rhodes situation will count for anything.

They might prefer to let him go to someone else, but if we are the most serious interested party and are offering the best financial/footballing package then I can't see any issue.

Besides, Middlesbrough think they are a level above us, that's why they thought they could get Rhodes and therefore they won't be bothered about letting a player drop down to our level!

Won't happen though, certainly not until there is an exit. We've only 2 places left. One seems to be earmarked for a target man and the other Bowyer has said he wants to leave open in case of injuries during the season.

No idea how Bowyer will line up, he rotates players like there's no tomorrow but i don't think Guthrie would have signed if he wasn't told he would be a regular and obviously Lowey is the golden boy.

Akpan will probably get a few starts in place of Guthrie or more likely subbed on for him.

The others will just be sat on the bench or out of the squad entirely.

I doubt Petshi will make a first team appearance.

this is a huge worry for me, as again, its signing players just for the sake of it. Surely Bowyer can see that we are stacked in midfield, and unless he sells the likes of Williamson, Evans and heck even Lowe, we are going to have some serious problems with disgruntled players who are not playing

He'd rather sell his own mother

Denni Avdic is a really good tall striker and miles better than Brown.

A bold statement but the second part is a given surely? Tall foreigners have come and gone from England having done poorly, Maierhofer, Kozak, Zigic etc... With his goal record I'd approach cautiously. If there's a chance of getting some players like Wilson from United then I'd rather keep places spare for such signings.

Unleaded, Marcus Olsson linked with a move away? Hope not, need to keep him.

I don't see Marcus as much of a player to be honest. In fact I think that our full backs are our biggest defensive problems. How many goals are created by our opponents right wingers cutting in. We appear to have no answer.
