Looks to be alot happening at ewood atm according t contact also trying to free up places in squad...deadwood....giving promotion a real go this season....season starts next week.

Only realistic way we can go for promotion is if we hold onto at least one of Rudy or Rhodes.

Will Venkys have the nadgers to do that? And will Bowyer have the ability to get then to play even if they want away? To be fair he got some very good performances out of Rudy after he wanted to leave.

Bowyer not only has to get one or both of them to play he has to get the other buggers to play too in order to have any chance of promotion. He also has to address the Keystone Kops defence. Neither or which he has shown any semblance of doing so far. Just look at the evidence...search for final league table 2013/14 and 2014/15

First off pick the best proven pairing and stick with it.

Second drill, drill and drill again into them marking from set pieces.

Third get a strong pair in centre mid to win the battles to help protect them and lauch attacks instead of sitting there inviting pressure, oh and stick with them as well.

Fourth scrap the rotation policy.

Fifth sort out the subs policy, change to try and win games or kill off games first, protect leads, draws from 85 mins not 65 mins or half time. Only sub just to give players a run when games really allow it.

These simple things will give us a platform if we keep those two because they'll still bang the goals in.

I'd like to see;

Steeley

Henley Henry Killy Olsson

Marshy Guthery Kimmy Conway

Rudy Rhodsey

Plenty of chances will obviously also be available for Hanley during the season. Ditto "Sully"

The future's obviously less certain for Lenihan and Eastwood. Their names don't roll easily off the tongue unless they're prepared to go by the monikers "Lenny" and "Woody".

Raya might as well pack his bags now. There's hardly anything you can do with his surname that allows it to be turned into a familiar sounding nickname.

;)

David Raya - could be Rayey. GB is so pally with players he could use a first name, Davy or Davey ^_^

If Rudy Austin can't get a work permit then Kim won't. Suddenly things aren't quite so rosey - Gestede odds on to go to Villa, Rhodes about to sign for Boro and Kim work permit rejection all in the next 48 hours?

Reading this doesn't fill me with hope over Kim, think we may as well all expect it to fall through now to save ourselves the disappointment.

Agree doesn't look great under the new ruling. Am I right in thinking the country's Fifa rank has an impact on decision? If so then South Korea are about 52 where as austins jamica are 80, might be clutching at straws as don't know the rules inside out

Surely what happened with Austin has no bearing on the Kim situation?

Each case has to be dealt with on an individual basis and the merits assessed without prejudice.

Kim is from a different country and has played in the UK for much longer than Austin.

Having said that I also expect it to be rejected, simply because the FA will use any opportunity it can get to deprive us of a decent player.

Is this 'appeal' being dealt with by the FA or by the Home Office? Surely the FA's jurisdiction here is extremely limited? If the Home Office are happy to give him a permit then what business is it of the FA and how can they prevent him working for us?

The FIFA ranking element basically sums the rules up for what they are.

First off it has absolutely no relevance how good your national team is (many world class players have come from poor international teams)

Secondly the FIFA ranking changes every few months depending on results in friendly games. So in the case of S Korea they could easily shoot up the rankings in no time at all.

Thirdly, surely it counts as discrimination if Kim is being denied a permit on the basis of his nationality whilst a player from Africa is granted one just because his national team is deemed 'better' by FIFA?

You would hope so... Don't get your hopes up though.

Top 50 in FIFA rank

I'm sure we used to get turned down for work permits numerous times under the previous regime and were successful on appeal. Then again it depends on the calibre of the person conducting the appeal and unless we were hiring a barrister you wouldn't be too confident in that respect.
