Agree doesn't look great under the new ruling. Am I right in thinking the country's Fifa rank has an impact on decision? If so then South Korea are about 52 where as austins jamica are 80, might be clutching at straws as don't know the rules inside out

I can't honestly believe that people are being denied work permits based on their home nations FIFA ranking. What relevance does that have?

What a bloody farce.

So if I understand it correctly we would have a better chance of getting a permit if we were signing a player from the Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Iran, Peru or Congo because they are all in the CURRENT top 50, whilst South Korea, just outside the top 50, are currently level with the powerhouse that is Cape Verde.

What a joke. Could we not employ Kim as a shop assistant who just so happens to play for us also?

Would George Best have got a work permit? After all, Ireland were shocking.

He was British and from the uk!

I don't think there is a chance Kim will be allowed a work permit with these ridiculous restrictions. If Austin can't get one, given he is from an English speaking former British nation, with a British son, what chance is their for Kim?!

I would have hoped players who were already established in this country and had families here would have been granted permits.

Interesting to see what the FA do if one if this happens to Chelsea or Man Utd in the future!

It also somewhat irks that we would be allowed to sign somebody from an Eastern European backwater in the EU with no links to the uk whatsoever, but presumably would need special dispensation to sign a player from say New Zealand or Canada with great links to out country.

Also Gaz would likely do a Judge/Marrow with him. Strange signings them!

Just checked he's only 33. Thought he was a few years older but always quite liked him when he was here although we had better players and finance so probably right he moved on. He runs around a lot so Gaz would probably say we already have Lowe but I think Douglas is a better player. Not young, no sell on so no go probably.

How on earth can you know that Neal?

Having seen his performances, knowing our restrictions and the names available... Just my opinion of course. Mate of mine is a die hard Wiganer and says he's a class act.

Jack Straw used to swing it.

Easy peasy then. Kate Hollern has a record for riding roughshod over all sorts of rules on behalf of asians.

Could we apply under those daft 'Fair Trade' rules?

On reading these links I'm doubtful Kim will get through.

It looks ok for players valued at £10million or more so that's the PL looked after.

In the bigger picture and for a moment ignoring how it may affect Rovers re Kim I am in favour of encouraging home grown talent.

Despite their glossy 'Kick it Out' campaign the FA are behaving in a racist manner then surely? Can I assume that their new initiative is called 'Kick them out'?

Who is in charge there... Alf Garnett?

Or French grown talent.

And typical FA it's weighted in favour of the big boys with big money. I suppose they hope that the lower leagues will become a conveyor belt for British (I mean English) talent to progress towards the PL - but that's nothing new.

Put a moustache on Dyke and there you have Alf!

We're in the E.U. (at the moment) so there's no point in arguing about them. Personally I think it's good to tighten the rules for it but regardless of how it affects Rovers I think it's really unfair to people living here already, especially if they have been here for a few years. As someone who deals with work permits and visas it's not fun. Some of this anti Rovers F.A. stuff is a bit silly though.
