Bowyer comments about Rhodes showing 'ambition' in wanting to talk to Middlesbrough...a Championship club?

What about THIS clubs ambition, are you stating in a roundabout way that we are finished and have none.

Christ almighty! :glare:

The insinuation in Bowyer's remarks is that Boro are ambitious whereas we are not. Strange comments for a manager to make.

Strange and infuriating Jim,does this man not think before engaging his mouth.

How embarrassing!

Not seen the quotes, but he's s rookie SG, not used to operating at this level, should end expect more?

Seriously? Criticising Bowyer for suggesting players are ambitious in wanting to talk to clubs splashing the cash as opposed to being skint and unable to even spend any money that could be found lying around? When no premier League clubs are showing any interest?

Is it that hard to understand and also sympathise with a certain Mr Bowyer who can either ignore the question, say "talk to the loons" or try and turn it into something vaguely positive by actually pretty much telling the truth and stating the @#/? obvious?

Gets more credit from me for this considering he has essentially avoided criticising our two prize assets for being unprofessional by praising them for their ambition without having the do a manuel impression "i know nothing..." :P

Strange but true, sadly. Shows Bowyer to be one of those who speaks before engaging brain.

If he scores the goals to keep us up / midtable / a miracle of play offs then he's worth it some might say. We are already in embargo and likely to lose millions again anyway and at least he's still classed as an asset whilst he retains some value. 8k pwk gets you Chris Brown...........

Still maybe too much but this link suggests that Brown in on less than £3K per week:

I'm sure Bowyer reminded them that we are going for top 6 this season if not top 2.

That's what he said after beating Ipswich in the last game of the season anyway.

I'm not sure, the Hull chairman was quoted as saying Venkys wanted 12m up front if memory serves me correctly.

So that's not press speculation or hearsay but what he was told by the owners.

So he said ha

Did Gibson manage to leave Madame a voicemail?

It's in her junk mail folder

If my colleague is correct, a M'boro supporter and seemingly very much on the ball with what she's told me before, things will move very, very quickly now.

How quick is very quickly, are the phone lines to Pune down

So you think anybody at Rovers could out 'poker' Gibson and Kenyon who are the real people involved at Boro. They know the true value of Rhodes and won't be held to ransom. Mick McGuire will be actively working on this one and the comments from Rhodes lead me to believe that it will only be a matter of time.

I reckon Balaji could, without breaking sweat.

JR still here I see

Agreed. They've just got to reject every bid made. If we keep him we might be in for a decent season; if we lose him - God knows what

Well given that he has intimated that he wants to leave if we force him to stay he could become a disinterested lightweight striker plodding around up front waiting for his team mates to do all the work and roll it along the 6 yard line for him ........ Oh wait!

^_^

Boro fans don't seem too happy with some of the comments on here

As for Rhodes, I just want it sorted out one way or the other, sick to the back teeth of it...venkys pull your @#/? finger out

what do you want them to do ?

boro made a bid

venkies rejected it

balls now back in boro's court

venkies dont need to do anything yet

I think many of us believe that he will go at £12 mill plus if its cash on the nail or rather in the hip poc ermmmm ...... well you know what I mean.

Jordan has a career record of 291 games with 156 goals (source Wiki so ??) anyway not bad for a player who some think is just a plodder.

The 8 mill para payments will hit the turnover Rev. It was 24 mill last accounts, it will be 16 mill next accounts. Less turnover = higher losses.

Can you inform Jim mk2 about the parachute payments not being forever please den?

Starting to get reported that Middlesbrough are now looking at other targets. No other bid has been made yet. Guessing it's probably Hooper.

They have finally joined the poker school. All we need now is another bidder and we'll do em up like a kipper.

I have lost count of the number of times it has looked like we were playing with 10 men. Something also remarked on frequently by Radio Lancs. BTW how did we play in the cup ?

Really? I didn't.

I do remember the Norwich game when we were winning at HT with Rhodes and Gestede playing, then our clown of a manager took Rhodes off for no reason whatsoever and we ended up losing.

Fair point about the Cup games against Liverpool , but they were one off games against Premiership opposition when we set up to try not to lose and which were not really representatative of what we need on our travels week in week out in the League when we need to create chances and win games.

Pretty obvious to see what the retained list is based on. ^_^

btw Some odd figures there and an illustration of how Bolton fell from grace but how the hell is Marcus Olsson on so much?

Said it before but we are in the position where Middlesborough where a few seasons ago, there net spend was little or negative for one or two seasons and its only due to Rockcliffe (The Holding Co) owning Middlesbrough, Bulkhaul and a poxy hotel in which is based in the UK to allow a write off of profits via tax.

Middlesborough lost circa 20 million last season, the hotel a further million but bulkhaul a company which Gibson owns 75% of managed to record 30 million profit. I believe this is how they are managing to deflect FFP this year which given there spending this summer would mean its sh1t or bust time.

Rhodes is our player, we are under no obligation to sell to a league rival, for all i know we could keep Rudy too after both Watford and Villa signed forwards today. If we tightened up at the back and kept the rest of the squad its not beyond the realms of a play-off place , especially if we got it tighter at the back and once PL teams release the squads so the loan market can free up a bit.

There is a fear unhappy players will dig there heels in and remain unproductive players but the fact of the matter is, is that only one bid of 12 million has been received thus far and Venky's to there credit have turned it down straight away and insisted in only selling to a PL team, the last time i looked Middlesborough got spanked in the play-offs last year to Norwich and remain in the same league as us.

I checked OneBoro to see there fans reactions and was mostly shocked, i know the Geordie faithful can be delusional at NUFC but the Sunderland lot are up there with the best in the PL yet M'Boro seem to be catching the Geordie disease. Let's be frank what were the results last season between us?

Fact remains at the moment Jordan is our player and M'Boro have been in the Championship longer than us. The way M'Boro and Karanka after today have gone about there business it has only increased any deal for me, what an unprofessional outfit to talk in public like that, could you imagine John Williams or Mark Hughes doing the same? Credit to Bowyer for turning the attention away in his interview back onto the team. Is this the same Karanka who behaved like a petulant child last season against us?
