Mate a section of our fans are legendary for not appreciating what they've got. What he will probably get up there is a team and manager...oh and uncle who'll best harness what he does well. Play like you did last season and if he's in that side or better he'll bang you 30 in. All this despite being the worst player on the pitch you understand :o

He might get his normal 20+. It's largely irrelevant. We are not called Jordan Rovers. His success can only be judged in the context of the team. He was part of our mid-table finish and underachievement as were all the rest of our squad. There were enough games he didn't score and others were he contributed little to nothing and his goal to chance ratio last year wasn't anywhere near as clinical as before. But I know I'm not really allowed to criticise him, or point this out. There's no I or U in team. Or Jordan.

Maybe Jordan can shine and be their blue eyed boy and fire them to 10th place as well. That would be amusing. They can copy us waxing 10 million on one player for continued mid-table mediocrity.

Liking how he is free from any grief for asking to leave as well. Quaint.

To the Boro fan. In your shoes I'd be after Gestede. He would slot straight in, would be easy to integrate and would contribute in both areas each week. Get Rhodes and you will be left scratching your head at how someone so clinical and assured in the box, top drawer, can lose the plot the minute he is more than 10 yards from goal. And then he scores. But your already 2-0 down. But Jordan scored, thats the only important bit.

Rovers fans don't struggle to appreciate what we've got at all. Unless you mean big Sam. We should be able to discuss Rhodes merits or otherwise without getting all precious about him. Stop conceeding two each week and our reliance on Rhodes diminishes anyway.

Hi chaps. Boro fan in peace here. Came on here to see what the overall view of this Rhodes saga is and also to see how the people who see him week in and week out rate him.

His record is very good but having watched Rovers twice last year against us, I have to say Gestede looked far more effective, would that be fair to say?

I knew Rovers were having some issues with Venkys, but didn't realise it was as serious as it was. Have they ever been good to you or has it been doomed from the start?

Anyway, best of luck with the season and I'm sure you won't be anywhere near as bad as some are making out, definitely more than good enough for mid table (especially if your keeper Westwood gets a run In the team).

Cheers

Take no notice of Paul.... he's just trying to put you off the scent by criticising our Jordan! That dens as bad.

Truth is that Jordan Rhodes is an accomplished finisher and is seen by a significant part of BRFC supporters as a deadly box to box striker, a real powerhouse who will sweat and graft over 90 mins for the cause. Strong in the air and powerful with an almost magnetic ability to keep and hold up the ball when playing with his back to goal. :tu:

And a snip at only 40 billion rupees.

Why on earth would you need to be sarcy about Jordan Rhodes talents' Theno? His goal record speaks for itself.

Because he will not be happy until JR has gone, then he can say told you we are crap cant score goals L1 looms. me i say M'bourgh do not have the cash up front so they may as well jog off.

to put politely....RUBBISH

So that would include the bit where I say he has the "happy knack of scoring 20+ per season" and when I say "and then he scores and we win"

Or the bits about the Rao family? You must have changed views on them if you think that's rubbish?

They have been as good to us as Ebola has been to Africa.

Will actually Ebola is more or less under control, so that comparison can't work.

If you get Rhodes, which I very much doubt, you'll be buying a footballer of limited ability who has the happy knack of scoring 20+ goals per season. JR isn't strong, can't hold the ball up, his lay offs are haphazard and he generally needs two touches to control the ball when played up to him from defence. One big weakness is he does not relieve pressure on the defence by receiving the ball and keeping it. There are some games when it feels like we only have ten on the pitch and then he scores and we win!!!! A player who will always divide the fans' opinion.

Oh your praise was absolutely amazing !! Pathetic

Everything Paul says in your quote is true though. However his movement in the box and his finishing are exemplary.

Abbey - if this is so wrong why isn't Rhodes attracting interest from Premiership clubs - or even playing for a goal shy Scotland team ?

Beside his obvious talent for goal scoring - what else does he bring to the team - does he have good pace, hold the ball up well etc etc ?
