Even if he does put a transfer request in, I think they will reject it.

With what Rhodes said and what Karanka came out and said added fuel to the fire. You annoy them and that's it.

As Kammy said, Venky's got the better of Man United, basically said you are allowed to speak to him with his clause, doesn't mean you can sign Jones.

Any player or club that seems to try cross them, then more fool them. Just a shame they couldn't run the club as sufficent, instead of destroying it.

The Raos certainly seem obstinate people - perhaps they've been bruised by some harsh lessons over the past 5 years and trust very few people in the game now.

I know everyone wants to see the back of the Raos but that obstinacy could well see Gestede and Rhodes still at Ewood this coming season unless some club comes up with a ridiculous amount of cash.

The only caveat is that both players have not been playing in many of the friendlies - so what sort of condition are they going to be in ?

Shame they didn't apply the hardline logic to Kean and Co then we wouldn't be in this mess. Infact if they clawed back the money that lot are responsible for bleeding from the club directly & indirectly we wouldn't need to sell any player.

Rhodes played against Stanley and Gestede against Crewe. But I think the main reason bowyer has been reluctant to play them in pre season is not to risk injuring them, whether that be because they're going to new clubs or he wants to keep them fit for our season

All players need match fitness - the only possible reason they haven't been playing is because deals are being negotiated (or not as the case may be) in the background. I'm certain they're not injured either.

Are we really praising Venkys?

Their lack of communication is one of their key issues. If they want to reject offers for Rhodes, do so, if they want to negotiate, then get on with it. Not answering the phone isnt helping.

The worst thing that can happen is we allow this to continue then sell at the last minute giving us no options at all to replace him - surely something we have all seen so many times before as Rovers fans? And worse this time as the replacement market is even smaller than normal.

Tell me again what are they doing right here? What's the plan?

Do I want him to go, well no - mainly as i have no confidence our manager could replace him even if he could spend the money.

I heard our chief scout was in the stand at Bury tonight- why isnt he out scouting new players?

Yes I'm sure that's the plan not answering the phone

'Maaaam, there's a mister Gibson on the line here, he wishes to speak with you'

'Is this that blasted football thing again hijhaj, tell them my brothers and I are busy watching the elephant polo, we will speak with him when we are ready'

'Very good maaam but he said it's relating to rhodes'

'We aren't building any roads, is our Hindu tea ready yet hijhaj, take the phone off the hook'

Perhaps it's tempting fate slightly and a bit premature to do so with around 35 days still to go before the transfer window slams shut. No amount of posturing at this stage will count for anything if the pair aren't still Blackburn Rocers players on September the 1st.

All that said, the owners do appear to be playing a blinder on this particular issue. If we actually get to September the 1st and the pair of them are still here I certainly think praise will be in or der as that would be an astonishing achievement in our current situation and one which would have been unthinkable at the end of last season.

Good Grief.

I think the worst thing Rhodes could do now is put in a transfer request.

Cant see the owners selling Rhodes to Boro cos they dont like being forced into selling players they dont want to sell.

Plus I would imagine that they look at Rhodes as a key player for us and the biggest success since buying the club.

Plus they have give him a new contract last season so are looking for him to be loyal to the club.

If he is still by the start of the season then we all know he will give 100% commitment to the club.

If he's sold without asking to leave he'll be due a loyalty bonus. I would imagine it's better for us as the selling club for him to submit a transfer request if we want to make the most of the deal.

Obviously it's better for us as a club if he and Rudy both stay but I don't see that happening at the moment.

From today's Sun paper is reporting that Rhodes asked to sit out yesterday friendly and hopes to force through a 14 million deal to join Boro.

Rhodes wants showdown talks with Mrs D to plead for a move to Boro.

Cannot see how that is going to bother Venky's. Probably makes them more stubborn! We definitely cannot go into the new season with both Gestede and Rhodes gone. Recipe for league 1.

Rhodes has done nothing worse than Chris "January Injury" Samba, and I can't remember the crowd turning on him.

If he stays then this will essentially be forgotten about by the majority until the next transfer window when he's begging for a move again.

Trying to keep two players who are desperate to leave the club is seriously undermining any pre-season planning or preparations that the manager and coaching staff want to do. They don't know if the players will be here, or if they are still here just how committed to a club they will be. If they do stay both are going to be a long way behind in terms of match fitness. Unless the players have a change of heart and come out and say they want to stay and want to play for Blackburn Rovers then I really don't see how this ends well for all concerned, but particularly the club.
