Savage was under contract to Birmingham when Hughes wanted him. Where did he end up?

Not that it has the slightest relevance to the current situation but according to Savage himself after he had burnt his bridges at Birmingham, Rovers refused to meet the asking price for him and that deal ONLY went through because he agreed to take a very substantial pay cut to bridge the gap between what Rovers were prepared to pay for him and what Birmingham wanted for him.

Otherwise it wouldn't and he'd have been completely left high and dry.

He did that so he could play for Hughes. Who'd do that for Bowyer?

By his wife until the divorce settlement went through... That's one of the reasons Gibsons purse strings were tightened the last few years.

Doesn't look they are now and he's basically telling the football league to screw there non sensical FFP.. Good on him

I don't think he is ignoring FFP, I think the rules are changing next season and clubs are allowed to make a loss of approx 35 Million over a 3 year period. It now means clubs can have one season they having a go at promotion and then spend two years trying to fall back in line with FFP without being put under an embargo.

Let's hope it doesn't develop into a Best situation :(

Precisely. As I say, very tricky. Give into him and you set a precedent, while we lose our main source of goals. Force him to stay and either i) put him with the stiffs on £40k p/w or ii) put up with his half arsed performances (because that's what they'll be).

There's no "best scenario" from here IMO.

According to Kamy on Twitter Rhodes is absolutely hellbent on leaving us. Doesn't look like a way back for him from here. Even if we were to force him to stay, his performances would likely be pathetic. Very difficult one this.

Also from Kamy

Those asking why JR wants to leave. Last year he was happy to stay even with PL interest because there was a realistic chance of promotion.

This year we are under embargo, selling our better players and he feels that there is no longer a realistic chance of rovers getting top 6.

Do wonder if Rhodes has spoken to Desai , if he actually gave that reason, might come a bit of a shock to her that árguably their only success doesnt belive the party line from Ewood

Will she do a Jack and offer him the player manager gig if he stays though ;)

I didn't think it would be long before Rhodes's behaviour would see him lionised by the same sorts who did the same with that rat Chris Samba.

Re: the other thread.

How ridiculous are our laws and how many vagaries are there in the English language? You'll get away with that of course but if you'd said 'monkey' or specified that rat as being black or brown you'd have yourself a 3 year ban.

Alternatively if you'de said Rattus rattus no one would have a clue what you are on about. :tu:

Even if he didn't put the effort in he would still score goals, in fact him being lazy and hanging around the box would probably end up better for us

Evening gents.

Just passing on a bit of info. Your gaffer is in the stands at Barnsley tonight for our pre season friendly.

Overall scouting trip ahead of the season, or maybe checking out a player that is to be used as a makeweight in any possible Rhodes deal?

A lot of rumours about it being Yanic Wildschutt?

Anybody know anything?

Hope not Wildschutt is sh1te. All pace and no brain hence he didn't feature much for you lot last season. I actually think Reach is a better player but even he was inconsistent with Bradford.

I dont think we can do part ex as part of the deal, so unless boro released said player it wouldn't make any difference. I think you may get him if you put up £12 million hard cash.

We can do a part exchange as long as the player coming in gets a max of 10k a week.

The people it would make a difference to is Huddersfield as they would lose out.

Ah interesting? Does that include loans?

Wildschut will not be on anywhere near 10k p/w. If he is he is robbing a living.

Part exchanges seem a bit of an unknown. We can't pay a fee for a player but if Boro gave us cash+player we still aren't paying anything. As long as the wage is £10k or below, we still aren't paying a transfer fee.

They might have some rule about it but on the face of it, seems like a plausible workaround?

Why anyone would want to move to that stinking filthy scruffy dole dossing shithole of an excuse of a town is beyond me . It actually beats burnley for its awfulness and there is even more inbreeding too .

Worked there for 3 months it really is that bad . As for Stockton ...

Thanks for posting the info

How much is Kike on per week? What type of striker is he?

He is the Striker most likely not to play if Rhodes signs for you. So why not join Rovers.
