It is nonsense, but that is how FFP works. Sell Rhodes, get the embargo lifted, then we'd be free to go out and spend as much as we wanted for 3 years until the next assessment. See what Boro are doing.

3 years?

Sorry, MM, but the bit in bold is nonsense.

If we sign three players that would strengthen the team (which would mean two strikers and one CM) then their combined wages would be more that Rhodes is on - which would mean we are no better off from an FFP perspective.

No s@&£...

Apart from the £12million transfer fee???

Bowyer's on a panel in the studio. Slipped in the fact that we're under embargo and that it takes us out of negotiations.

Gary Rowett then took the wind out of that a few seconds later by saying they couldn't afford to pay as much as the Clubs under embargo. Lol.

why?

I think he has spoken very well tonight IMO. I sure most will disagree with me. no surprise there tho

If you think that MOST would disagree then surely you acknowledge your views are rare on the subject?

It's curious that his price has gone up recently though.

I didn't listen, was anything mentioned of note otherwise.

I'm listening to it..

You have an advantage on me. Is he metaphorically "sticking his tongue up Venkys arse" on radio? Genuine question, is it that he praising them because that's how he feels right or wrong? Or is there some evidence of Bowyer engraciating himself?

Couldn't say whether he actually believes it, but he was praising them to high heaven. Amongst other things (may have ranted over a couple of things.. Haha) he was saying they now know how football works and how his trips to Pune and email exchanges with them have been really useful and they've been good since they went more into the background and stopped appearing in the headlines.

I'm definitely not having that they know how football works.

How many top managers would seemingly be happy openly discussing with the media how much they can sell their top players for?

Its an absolute disgrace. I accept that at times you have no choice as a club and players move on, but can't accept us using the media to both tout them around, and big-up the managers ego at the same time.

He's coming across more as a fraud this week then ever

I think it would of been more appropriate had bowyer said these words , especially after Rhodes has spoken out

"We dont want to sell Jordan, he is very much key to what we are trying to achieve here, This window is challenging , but ultimately we are like the other 23 clubs in this division, fighting for 1 of 3 tickets to the Premier League. In order for us to do that we need to keep our key players and Jordan certainly falls in that category. We cant help it if other clubs show an interest in our players , however at the same time we are trying to build something here, this can only be achieved by keeping the squad together and not breaking it up every summer"

IMO , any more sales and Rovers and Bowyer are back to square one , in terms of spending another few years in trying to build another squad. Our finances dictate thats not possible, so on that basis we need some clever loans and the for sale sign needs to well and trully come down
