rovers11 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Anyone go tonight? Any players stand out? Sounds like the trialists did ok
Parsonblue Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 What a cracking game of football this was. Both sides playing fast, open football and Bowyer opting for 4-3-3 formation with Sarpong and Sema on the wings and Forrester in the middle. Both wingers looked quick, tricky and with eye for goal whilst Forrester caught the eye with his hold up play and ability to shield the ball and feed his midfield players. Petshi again looked outstanding in the first half. Big, strong, quick and very mobile. In the second half he became the holding player and Liam Nolan came more and more into the game as the attacking player in central midfield. A word of praise for a very bright cameo from Connor Mahoney in the closing stages. All in all a very entertaining night's football at Prenton Park.

Also great to see Connor have the strength of character to bounce back after a stinker and Forrester showing signs of life.
Parsonblue Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Did many fans bother Parson? There were certainly at least a couple of hundred, perhaps more, behind the goal although our group, and I suspect others, sat with the Tranmere fans in the Main Stand as we prefer the side view rather than behind the goal.
Jock Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Anyone watching at prenton park tonight? I went but the big surprise for me was hearing Flock Of Seagulls at half-time.
Gav Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 There were certainly at least a couple of hundred, perhaps more, behind the goal although our group, and I suspect others, sat with the Tranmere fans in the Main Stand as we prefer the side view rather than behind the goal. Cheers. The last time we went to Tranmere my overwhelming memory was being able to park on the street outside the ground at 3pm! No traffic, no fans, think we drew.
Colt Seavers Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I went unfortunately! Positives - I haven't been to Tranmere before. It is my 42nd ground visited and my son's 16th. That is it for positives. Negatives - who on earth were they? How dare Bowyer put that shower out? I can only assume a full, recognisable 11 starts at Oldham. I would have been happy with a smattering of first teamers; God even Lowe, Spurr or Williamson would have been a godsend! Anyway; Mahoney came on as a very late sub and scored the kind of goal you do when you are different class. Not that I particularly rate him mind but this was turgid stuff! Raya is nimble although slight. Some of the players were way below standard; none of them are anywhere near the required level and it was all a bit underwhelming really. The standout performance was from Petschi. It was fascinating. He is a very deep lying, very confident, very poor man's Yaya Toure. I really enjoyed his performance. He ran back to demand the ball from Raya endlessly. He then kicked it up one of his teammates arse, won back possession and carelessly squandered it. He repeated this ad naseum. I didn't know where to look! Several hundred fans were there but it frankly felt like a slap in the face to watch such an unprepossessing bunch of chancers, charlatans and desperados. I don't really post here although I lurk (ominously) every day. For what it's worth, I really enjoy reading posts by Patrick Valery and I think the boy Chaddy is worth his weight in gold. Keep it up guys. Can't wait for next term. Onwards and upwards!!
