[Archived] The New Season Is Looming..

Recommended Posts

Looks like last season's ineptitude by the fitness staff continues as both Taylor and Brown are out with injuries that seem similar to those they had at the end of last season.

I harp on about it all the time but I'm absolutely astounded at the amount of injuries we get, something somewhere is very wrong. Lenihan gets his first proper contract then the curse of Brockhall holiday camp strikes and he is injured for the bulk of pre-season. I would be confident to say we probably spend more on sports scientist and injury prevention gurus than most just to put the tin hat on it.

I can't understand how anyone can be looking forward to it, majority hated it towards the back end of last season and we're weaker now. I'm sure most will be attending more out of obligation than expectation.

The vast majority agree Bowyers out of his depth, the players aren't good enough and with departures imminent it's going to be a chore for most.

I'm usually very positive in all aspects of my life but as you get older you've no time for small talk and being unrealistic, the clocks ticking, so what I am looking forward to is the fans revolting, getting rid of Venkys and hopefully avoiding a ban or nicking in the process.

Anything above and beyond that football wise will be a miracle and a welcome one at that. Above all other things I want Blackburn Rovers to be successful and I never lose sight of that.

Said it before but how much training are they doing on the hard surfaces ? Are they overtraining perhaps ? I know it's unlikely given the laid back nature of the club these days but something isn't right.

I always look forward to the new season. This is no different. But it's mainly because my weekends feel empty without that feeling of emptiness which I get from rovers letting me down again!!

It hurts that we're going into this season with a squad likely to be considerably weaker than last year. It worries me that our best players seem to have suffered injuries already. It worries me that there's already protest talks. But at the end of the day, its my football club and like a crack addict, I'll still be going all out for my fix. Hollow little victories are still victories and this season I'll be savouring every single one. Especially as they might be rarer than before.

Best players are leaving, new signings either unproven or likely to be no better than present lot and an average manager still in post means the overall effect is the team likely to be considerably weaker than last season and it is quite likely that we have the prospect of a relegation battle.

Plus auditors resigning and a general feeling that all is not well behind the scenes at Ewood.

New season ? I'm dreading it.

I think we are really in that strangest of phenomenons. When everything looks terrible but somehow people (including me) become optimistic. I think it is a perverse coping mechanism. Last time I felt like that was summer 2011. Oh dear.

I don't actually think the team looks that bad (ie. lower mid table rather than relegation) except for the strikers. Issue is all of them are totally untested. If they flop we are in real real trouble.

I'll be attending any games involving protests. Other than that, thinking of taking up painting.

You won't be seeing any football at Ewood then! 😃

New STs haven't arrived yet but we have signed up. I've had no real enthusiasm for going for the last couple of years.

I think Tom M mentioned "hope" a few days ago. This is something I've often mentioned in the past; every fan of every club was once able to hope, to dream of success at the start of each season. Not today.

Football has changed so much that a lot of the pleasure had disappeared anyway, the Raos have amplified that one hundred fold.

I'm not sure when the first home match is but we will be there regardless of everything.

After recent events I honestly can't see anything but relegation. With either Rhodes or Gestede staying I thought we would struggle but losing 40 plus goals will be too much to bear. Also I don't believe our manager and his staff can fix us defensively and once again we will concede too many avoidable goals.

Renewed season ticket as ever...

but upto date, im very uninterested - cannot seem to get any motivation....

perhaps the venks have just ground my enthusiasm away too much....

miss the first few games anyway as im on holiday......hopefully will return and we have blasted into action

then again..!!!..... :wacko::wacko:

Renewed and like Captain Mike (Preston Blue) am not particularly looking forward to it. I just don't think Bowyer is the type of manager to get the best out of what we have got, which isn't a lot.

BRFC is now at the lowest point it can get under venky's. For me for anything to get them out has to be good because they have not and will not learn from lessons given to them.

As for the Wolves game, I think we will have a sound defensive unit I just don't see us having scoring power.

We where miles off promotion with the 40 goals pair. If we concentrated our efforts on not shipping as many goals, that would put us in a much better position for success. Once that is achieved, then if you have goal scorers, it just makes achieving success easier. If our strikers leave, so be it. An ideal example is when Arsenal where famous for winning 1-0, they had lots of success then. Now they score a lot, but have less success.

Has even your Degsey induced optimism evaporated Roverite?

I think we may have a way to fall before that lowest point under these gobbins is reached too!
