I just heard we are playing Wigan at home on Saturday.

What a crap pre-season friendly. Is it behind closed doors or are Rovers expecting people to pay?

Must admit was very disappointed when I heard who our final pre-season match was. Normally would go - but think I will give it a miss and wait for Wolves.

I hope that part was intentional.

Stand out player tonight... Shane Duffy

Really poor, but it is preseason and he's coming back from injury so can cut him some slack.

The view from the away end at Bury is pretty low down and not great for analysis but...

Guthrie looked pretty decent when he came on from what I could see, did two or three good things, passed forward. Tomlinson looked neat and tidy but didn't attack his full back. No one really played well except maybe Conway, who was lively on the left wing and scored a cracking goal, right in the bottom corner, if preseason was any kind of guide you might say it's looking good for him to be top scorer this season.

It was a pretty drab affair from where I was sitting, none of the others did a lot, Marshall tried to get involved a lot and dictate play but wasn't that impressive.

Nice to see Forrester get on towards the end but he didn't have much chance to impress. Like Del Boy before, who ran around a bit but didn't get much service.

Anyone who has been to the preseason games so far: have Rovers been playing to a system/gameplan? Or has it been different system every time?

I think Rovers have played 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation nearly every game apart from playing 4-4-2 in the second half at Accy Stanley

Sounded like Duffy was having a bit of a mare from the twitter commentary but as mentioned he needs time. No point rushing him back and he shouldn't be paired with Hanley anyway when fit. We are going to need some decent centre half cover pretty quick I think otherwise we could see Spurr or Lowe in there or one of the young midfielders, not a good scenario !

How did people feel Delfouneso played? I asked a Blackpool supporting friend about him tonight. I got the following:

"He's ok. Not one of the best. He's the type that thinks he's awesome, when in fact he's nothing special. My dad and bro never rated him."

Slightly concerned by that...after all, Blackpool were no great shakes. I'd have expected them to think he was great on account of everybody else being crap. Although to be fair, that was a disruptive environment to be in I'm sure. But perhaps this club will be too...

To clear it up.. Bowyer was at the Bury game from the start, he was out on the pitch before the team came out to warm up so not sure where he was sat for most of the first half.

Stand out players for me were Conway and Tomlinson (again). He looks very composed for a young lad, think he stands a chance of getting in the team this season, Bowyer must rate him.

Shane Duffy was absolutely abysmal, everything he did went wrong tonight, like the above poster says, he is coming back from an injury so can't be to harsh. My 2 CB's would be Kilgallon and Doneil Henry if we manage to get him back, honestly think that would be one of the best defensive pairings in the league.

He was ok, the service from midfield wasn't great and he isn't a lone striker. Worked hard, should have scored one, maybe two if you were being critical.

I would probably take a punt on him.

A lot of faith is being put in Doneil Henry. He was ok - but if memory serves me correctly, he was run ragged at Charlton and did his hamstring after being out of position for the nth time. A lot of people like last ditch tacklers, I prefer a leader who nips it in the bud way before a last ditch tackle is needed ( in the mold of Berg, Nelsen or Short).

Then we shouldn't sign him. 4-4-2 is a bust with our current players, we don't need more strikers who force us into that formation.

To be fair he finished last season well - hopefully he can take this into the season, Last season he had a disappointing start to the season - with all the upheaval we really need him at his best right from the off.

Was Bowyer at the match ? It was reported he turned up at Bury late.

Gary was sat in the directors box at Bury with his dad and Tommy Johnson throughout the game until he went down to the bench for the final stages.

Raya cannot kick and is very shaky. Duffy is a bigger liability than Hanley, I haven't a clue why some rate him so highly. Spurr is a massive downgrade on Olsson. Henley fine. Williamson fine. Guthrie wasn't stand out but I would sign him. Marshall frustrating, O'Sullivan less effective than I had hoped, Conway stood out like a sore thumb, Delfounso poor.

Duffy was poor tonight... Dominant in the air but made mistakes when on the ball & got turned far too easily a couple of times. Hanley has been much better this pre season, I've slated him over the last year but he's been solid and dare I say it, looks abit of a leader!!

Conway is brilliant, cut in from the wing and curled a lovely shot in to the far corner for his goal in typical fashion, technically he's our best player imo.

Marshall also technically good but tonight his decision making wasn't great. Was one moment where he could've slipped a simple pass over to the wing but he got excited and pinged it 10 yards over Conways head and out for a throw in. Firmly believe that he can play 'The Dunny' role when playing with one up, as long as he gets his head down and plays for the team.

Delfouneso seems to be a decent player but was making runs to the near post when he should've gone to the back post etc. He's quick and can hold the ball up and lay it off, should've scored tonight but didn't. Basically Brown with Duracell+.

Guthrie can pass a ball and isn't scared to put his foot in, he's looked like a more tenacious, polished Evans. Would strengthen us. Williamson's experience shows, even if he's not the best player in the world he's good at stopping other teams from playing, plus he's a laugh to watch when everything else is dull.

Tomlinson would benefit from being loaned out to league 1/2, not physically ready to play in the championship but that's to be expected.

Standard boring pre season game all in all.
