thenodrog Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Superb ability but I'd bloody love to know how much his career earnings are divided by actual minutes on the pitch. I think his earnings per minute would put even Wayne Rooney to shame.

Coatbridge rover Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Rollocks dronedrog,I met Dunny and his grandad once and he was a really nice bloke,I think the loss of his guiding light his grandad played heavily on his career.

Rollocks dronedrog,I met Dunny and his grandad once and he was a really nice bloke,I think the loss of his guiding light his grandad played heavily on his career. Unecessary and definitely not funny. Still I don't care if you played dominoes every night with his grandfather Dunn's earnings per minute on the pitch must be mind boggling.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I think Dunn's biggest mistake was that he still saw himself as an attacking midfield player - which he obviously didn't have the legs for. I was always surprised that we didn't try to convert him to a more Tugay like midfield player - taking the ball off the centre halves and setting up play. Personally I think he could have played that role - and his lack of pace, and lack of ability to get up and down the pitch wouldn't have been as much of an issue
dingles staying down 4ever Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Well thats just a bit of a silly remark isn't it Feni Blue...... Dunny has played over 300 games for the club, i'd wager we'll not see another player make so many appearances for the club in our lifetime. So have some respect If Bowyer stays as manager......Jason Lowe will smash it!
Coatbridge rover Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 What happened to Dunny yesterday, came on as sub and then subbed.
Leonard Venkhater Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Unecessary and definitely not funny. Still I don't care if you played dominoes every night with his grandfather Dunn's earnings per minute on the pitch must be mind boggling. Actually, I was delighted when Hughes re-signed him.I haven't actually researched it, but apart from one season under Big Sam, my sense is that his game time has been very low since his return to the club. If rumours are true and his absences during the last two years were mostly for contractual reasons, then what a waste! I even loved his 10 minute cameos.

I think his earnings per minute would put even Wayne Rooney to shame. Gordon he played well over 300 games for the club, was a great servant, didn't boycott under Venkys either like you did, so you can hardly criticize his record really can you
A cup of beans Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Another interview with Dunny in the LET.http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/13649303.Oldham_Athletic_move_has_brought_me_full_circle__says_Blackburn_Rovers_legend_David_Dunn/?ref=mac"It was difficult when I was sat on the bench, fit and ready to go, said Dunn, whose last appearance for Rovers, the emotional final-day home victory over Ipswich Town, was his first league start of the campaign.Because I felt I could have made a difference. I think if Id played 10 more games we would have gone closer to getting into the play-offs than what we did."

I wonder who Dunn would have dropped to accommodate himself - Rhodes or Gestede.
tomphil Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Not like those two started every game together in the second half of last season though is it ?
yoda Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I wonder who Dunn would have dropped to accommodate himself - Rhodes or Gestede. That sounds a bit petty (it might not be meant that way I know) don't you think it would have been some one in midfield ?
JBiz Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 That sounds a bit petty (it might not be meant that way I know) don't you think it would have been some one in midfield ? When did Dunn ever play in a 442 in the centre? To play him would've meant dropping a striker.
Amo Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 If only Dunny had been so outspoken when he was still here, instead of sucking up to the establishment.
West Yorks Rover Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 If only Dunny had been so outspoken when he was still here, instead of sucking up to the establishment. Probably was down at Brockhall, maybe why Bowyer didn't play him ?
Blue blood Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I wonder who Dunn would have dropped to accommodate himself - Rhodes or Gestede. Yeah because we never rotated our strikers... Sounds a bit harsh but basically what getting at is Brown and King featured a fair bit in the latter half of the season so can't say he didn't play due to continuity. In fact if it was solely Gestede-Rhodes he'd struggle for an argument. As it is the tombola selection process was in full swing for most of the season so can see why aggrieved. Secondly Dunn would've been the perfect impact sub. 20 mins to go so his fitness mattered less he'd have been ideal to come on. His creativity could've unlocked defences or his good passing helped retain possession and protect leads. None of that's guaranteed of course. Perhaps he was a crock last season, which begs the question why did we give him a new contract last summer. But I've a feeling we may have missed a trick with Dunn last year.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Very few will bite the hand that feeds Amarillo...especially when being paid thousands for feck all!
McClarky Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Was clearly our most creative player last year and I could never understand why he didn't start every game when fit. Disgrace if they were picking Evans or Williamson, or even Cairney for that, in front of him for contractual reasons.
yoda Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 When did Dunn ever play in a 442 in the centre? To play him would've meant dropping a striker. Well that would be down to GB. JR and Gestede up front with Dunn supporting would have beat 99% of the teams in the Championship with positive tactics
ABBEY Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 If only Dunny SOME OF THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE LEFT had been so outspoken when he was still here ONCE THEY LEFT, instead of sucking up to the establishment.
JBiz Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Well that would be down to GB. JR and Gestede up front with Dunn supporting would have beat 99% of the teams in the Championship with positive tactics Possibly but I think realistically that would be far too weak when playing against anyone with 5 in midfield.
Hasta Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Possibly but I think realistically that would be far too weak when playing against anyone with 5 in midfield. Maybe. But now that Dunn has confirmed he was fit, the fact he only even appeared on the bench twice between the end of January and his man of the match farewell against Ipswich is astonishing.
Amo Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Possibly but I think realistically that would be far too weak when playing against anyone with 5 in midfield. Weaker than a midfield packed with Lowe, Evans & Williamson?
Rover_Shaun Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 When did Dunn ever play in a 442 in the centre? To play him would've meant dropping a striker.League cup final 2002 and probably over 100 other gamesThe use of ever is over used.
