This was always on the cards, good luck to him hope he hasn't Keand his way in mind you.

Think it's inevitable he will be managing here before too long

Why would he have 'keand' his way in Tom? why would you even be thinking along those lines?

It baffles me sometimes how people talk about Dunny on here, must be 'local lad syndrome'.

I've slagged him off in the past, but I recognise his achievements here, local lad done good, represented the town and club in a positive light for years and thats not even talking about over 300 games he played for the club.

I wish him all the best, hope he works out to be a natural at football management and comes back here in 5/10yrs time and leads us back to where we belong.

Maybe not his doing but he was clearly brought in with a view to replacing the manager.

I think he'll do ok though eventually he's been doing his badges for a good while.

Fair play my comment was very poorly worded I admit, sorry about that.

I do wonder if his desire to manage played a part in his supposed freezing out here.

I don't think Bowyers that calculated, from what people say he's a decent fella, so probably more down to Dunn not fitting into his style of play, but you never know, its a decent salary that he's protecting.

A great interview. Shows authority and challenges those players who are "comfortable" to wise up.

Those players who are likely think "who the **** are you?" In terms of Dunns credentials as a manager.

Crazy that we've seen our own club suffer by the hand "rookies" yet we'd expect someone like Dunn to do well ... What is this based on?

No they won't. They'll think this kids earnt a fortune playing at the very highest level in teams they could only dream of representing the last decade or so. With more talent in his big toe than most of them. Be wise to listen hard and try their best.

What do our lot think of Bowyer? 50 odd games for Hereford and Rotherham, spanning 7 or 8 years. Little ability, never good enough, couldn't earn a living from playing. Why should they listen to someone with zero credibility as a player or manager?

Dunn might not make a good manager but his playing career certainly gives him a head start over those that couldn't even play.

Added to this that he has gone head to head with some of the games hard nut managers in Souness and Bruce and has no doubt learnt ways to get people to do what he wants.

He'll be judged on his performance. I can only go off the impressive impressions he's given so far.

If the players think "who the **** are you" they'll be out on their ear.

GB is no longer a Rookie, by the way.

Standard practice to appoint a rookie in the lower divisions, (so maybe we will do it again next season).

And yet Gary Monk and Eddie Howe (in his first Bournemouth spell) have been excellent. The next managerial appointment just needs to be the right one. I don't care if they have managed 1000 games or none, I just want a winning mentality and some organisation.

Howard Kendall was excellent for us, knew the game and delivered success. It wasn't the prettiest football but I don't recall anybody moaning. When he came here he hadn't managed at all.

I think he will do well. He played for England, he has his badges and he has vast experience in the game. I have been around him from time to time, as most on here probably have, and I always felt he had a certain presence; I may even say charisma.

I never had him down as the brightest of lads but he played the game with an animal cunning which suggests to me that he may be a tad more shrewd than some may think.

I certainly would expect the Oldham lads to respect him as a leader.

Only time will tell...

The first part of this sentence is absolutely bang on, but there are plenty of similar players who were never cut out to be a manager, its a different skill set and a different type of 'shrewdness'. I wish him nothing but success, but Dunny has never particularly struck me as being a natural leader to be honest.

But who knows? I could have said exactly the same thing about Kenny Dalglish in 1985.
