Bloody scandalous! Not only is this immoral given the money sloshing about the Prem, but it's unfair to every other club (even to the likes of UTD, City and Chelsea). Worse still is the fact that we are under embargo for failing the FFP test whilst WHU are being helped by the govt to pass it!

The money that the Olympics cost the ENTIRE country v benefits received across the country is a moot point of course but this is yet another legacy of Teflon Tony's misrule. Made even worse now given the austerity cuts currently having to be implemented as a legacy of the profligacy of the last Labour govt.

Not only that I dislike WHU intensely. Lets just hope they are in the bottom 3 come May 16.

Only this morning I was able to watch the BBC's ''The Olympic Stadium; How the Hammers Struck Gold''.

Chris Bryant seemed keen to pursue investigations as far as possible including to the European Commission for a look at State Aid giving unfair advantage to a commercial enterprise.

It looks like WHU intend to dump up to 20,000 tickets for each home match onto the local market to the detriment of local Clubs like Orient and Charlton.

Many WHU fans who appeared on the programme were not happy with the move or their owners believing they are in it for 3 things all called 'profit', but here at UK Taxpayers expense.

Hopefully this will end very badly for WHU and for that matter the arrogant Boris.

Have a day off Gordon! :tu:

The (current Tory) government should have negotiated a better deal with WHU over this! Not that great at negotiations are they, selling RBS for £1 Billion less than it was purchased for?

£3 Million a year rent isn't it, they're paying? City pay miles more than that to Manchester City Council, and they say there's no London bias!

Gordon really does need to engage his brain before he posts this sort of balderdash,

Yes, it's wrong that West Ham appear to be gaining at the taxpayer's expense but to link that to Tony Blair and the Labour government is a complete nonsense.

He's also been shown many times through independent research that Labour overspending is a myth.

Does anybody else remember the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony?

At one stage there was a rendition of 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles'.

Now the authorities are trying to convince the public that West Ham provide the only sensible business option to ensure the Olympic Stadium is viable in the long term (although why Leyton Orient had to be excluded from the arrangement seems strange). The story we're supposed to believe is that they built a massive stadium in London for the Games and only once the Games were over with did they realise there was little/no use for an 80,000 athletics ground.

My belief is that West Ham were always going to get the Olympic Stadium once the games were over with. This was the plan before the games even took place, and is why more sensible options for the taxpayer (such as selling the site to Spurs or allowing Orient to also reap the benefits) have been defeated.

The fact that what should be a public document - the terms of the West Ham deal - has been kept secret raises serious concerns.

They will try and play the game that West Ham are mere tenants in the stadium who are enabling a sporting legacy to continue in a multi-purpose venue.

How long until the seats are ripped out and replaced with claret and blue? How long until the West Ham name and logo is plastered on every empty space in the arena? How long until the stadium sells its naming rights for millions of pounds?

That isn't an Olympic legacy. The only people really benefiting are those at West Ham, and in particular the porn barons who own the club and who through a minimal investment have seen the value and potential of West Ham rocket. The people of the local area won't be able to access the sporting facilities such as the running track apart from the summer when West Ham don't need to use the ground.

The difference with Man City is that the City of Manchester Stadium was always intended to become a football stadium from the point it was designed, and Man City contributed all of the conversion costs and the proceeds from the sale of Maine Road to the council.

It is disgraceful.

People that watched or went to the Olympics tell me that it was very good as a spectacle BUT on the news this week less people partake in sport now than before the games which was one of the initial objectives. Also the site is an obvious white elephant with the only benefactors being WHU. It's a bigger waste of time and taxpayers money than the bloody millenium dome!

Jesus wept Gordon, because of irregularities like these the Tories have doubled the national debt in the last five years, surely even the most devout Tory supporters have begun to realise by now that Dave et al have conned their electorate, they`ll still be trying to blame Labour in 2020. Lol sounds like you may be one of those that regularly sends money to impoverished Nigerian royalty as well. :o

So when the Olympics were brought to London and the Stadium built what were the long term plans for it? Was it built with taxpayers money from the length and breadth of the country simply to end up as a publicly funded football stadium for WHU or Spurs used just 20 times pa? Lets get this right I'm not against either club getting it just so long as they damned well pay for it!
