Looks like Villa are really going to town with their new board. They've now appointed Adrian Bevington to go along with Steve Hollis, Mervyn King, David Bernstein and Brian Little who have all joined in the last few weeks.

Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.

Unlike Rovers...

Not enough Chiefs, too many Indians.

Garde deserve to be sack. Awful record there but Villa have been going 1 way since Martin O'Neill left. Downhill and now going down

Not sure he deserved to be sacked. He walked into a total mess and they didn't back him in January (I don't recall) difficult to say how he has really performed.

The Villa squad is awful, I can't imagine many managers would have kept them up.

Weird.

Why now rather than 10 days ago?

Garde has been wanting out but wanted paying off 1st.

Rumours today was Villa lawyers and Chairman was there today to sort out Garde future and get shut of him.

Plus their new chairman has get experience people in to join their current board.

Paying off for what?

Rest of his contract.

Reading an article on Daily Mirror website and they are suggesting that Moyes, Pearson, Dyche and Bruce are on the shortlist

I wonder where Gestede will be wanting to cry off to next.

I would build my team around Gestede next season

It seems like this is being done so the new guy can get his feet under the table to prepare for the Championship next season. I think it was pretty clear that Garde was not going to be given the chance to get them up. As for why now rather than ten days ago - the club has clearly already given up on this season, so the timing is largely irrelevant.

Now come on nobody deserves to manage Villa. Look at poor Lambert he's even regained his vision since he left!

Sacked, mutual consent, resignation, etc no matter what he was a dead man walking.

Looking at Villa's new board/advisor appointments it does appear they could be beginning to get a few things right. Of course that won't bring much immediate comfort to their fans given their impending relegation.

Rumors of Pearson/Dyche at the moment. LOL at people saying Dyche wouldn't go there. Who in their right mind would turn Aston Villa down in favor of friggin "name marketers dream" Burnley?

Even if they switch places Dyche would be nuts not to go there. Unless he's thinks he can do better than Villa and would rather wait. They are being linked to Steve Bruce as well haven't Villa fans suffered enough?

Let's say based on what's most likely, Villa go down, Burnley go up. In that event, Dyche won't leave Burnley. He gets them up again and his stock continues to rise paving the way for a bigger PL job in the future.

If he went to Villa and bombed his career and reputation would take a hammering, why risk that?

I understand that, but sooner or later Dyche is going to have to take a gamble and leap into the unknown, otherwise he will be consigned to the history books as another nearly man. Its one thing having a very good record in the Championship and winning promotion more than once, but numerous managers have done that. Lambert, Bruce, McCarthy, yet all find themselves back in the Championship. The only way Dyche will avoid a similar fate is by going to an underachieving club like Villa and rebuilding them and reproducing what he has done at Burnley at a bigger and better equipped club with more pressure and expectation than he has at the moment.

The height of Burnley's ambitions, if they go up this season, will be 17th in the league. That's all it will ever be. Dyche could deliver that 3 years running, a minor miracle, yet would struggle to get a top job. The only way he'll break his way into that cartel is by moving to a 'big' club and turning their fortunes around, getting them back towards where they think they belong, keeping them up and then progressing them further to challenge at the top end and for trophies.

Its telling that after 3.5 years of largely continual success at Burnley he's still there and hasn't really come close to leaving, with only Sunderland last summer looking like a serious possible destination. Whilst we can all see how well he has done, I think to a lot of people around the country he slips under the radar, is rarely linked with big jobs.

Villa would provide him with an opportunity he hasn't got at Burnley. Whilst its been a disaster club these last few years, they look to be getting their house in order off the pitch with some impressive boardroom appointments, and with a decent transfer budget an ambitious manager would see them as a good opportunity to build something.

Oh yeah, I know what you're saying, but I'd say in some ways a move to Villa would be seen as a huge opportunity for him, plus the opportunity to go back to The Midlands where he's from and no doubt a whopping salary to boot. He may be tempted, as there hasn't really been any talk of who the new manager there will be and they seem very much resigned to relegation (which they should be as they're goosed!). I imagine the Dingles will be angrier at Dyche than they ever were at Coyle if he jumped ship though!!

It's certainly a strange one - especially in this day and age where managers are staying going here there and everywhere and mostly for only short periods of time.

He's either super loyal, unambitious............or perhaps super sneaky (just waiting for the ideal time).
