Backroom Tom Posted April 25, 2016 Backroom Posted April 25, 2016 Was on a train down to London and just seen the result, Whilst with the football they play Spurs would be worthy champs and I didn't particularly want another name on the trophy you cannot deny Leicester, their nerve and relentless consistency is unbelievable. Ranieri has done a job beyond all logic and near possibility!

Gav Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Never met fans of any club that are more arrogant than them lot. Glad they're all devastated after tonight's draw.
bazza Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Yes. Like after Cardiff 2002 I bet they're all "ga'ed" ("gutted") Also Leicester can only get a maximum of 85 points. When we won the title with 89 points we were derided by Man Utd fans (who blamed their failure on not having Cantona) for not accumulating 90+ points.
VinjayV4 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Never met fans of any club that are more arrogant than them lot. Glad they're all devastated after tonight's draw. Well I've never really known any Tottenham fans (though my first ever game at Ewood was against them in February 1998...and the second was actually against Leicester a few weeks later lol) but I've certainly had the misfortune of meeting United fans. Probably missing out on the CL no matter what and possibly having to see Leicester crowned Champions right in front of them. Even United fans will applaud them though surely? They wouldn't in 1995 (not that Rovers fans should have cared) but even the most deluded United fan can't claim they have deserved anything more from this League campaign. They certainly won't roll over for Leicester on their own pitch. Unlike Rovers v United in 2011 ironically 16 years to the exact day after 1995. I doubt they will be the favorites next season but its not inevitable they will fall apart. Have to say with likes of Friedel, Tugay, Duff, etc it does make it more disappointing now that Rovers never made top 4 in 03 or from 06-08. Of course it didn't help having owners that made Stalin look benevolent after 2003.
philipl Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Looking forwards to seeing the Premier League trophy presented at Old Triffid.

It doesn't invalidate the point you are making, but we played 4 games more to accumulate those 89 points if I remember correctly.
JHRover Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Looking forwards to seeing the Premier League trophy presented at Old Triffid. Can't see that being allowed. To me because Leicester win the League if they beat United, and there's no prospect of anyone else winning it on Saturday, the organisers should transport the trophy and medals to Old Trafford ready for presentation on the pitch after the game if they win. If they don't secure the title then keep it in the cupboard until next week. To me the best part of Leicester winning it will be if they are celebrating on the pitch at Old Trafford infront of the United fans. I imagine the organisers will be hoping it is wrapped up against Everton then they don't have to broadcast the celebrations from Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.

JHRover Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Blackburn Rovers © 42 27 8 7 80 39 +41 89 Manchester United 42 26 10 6 77 28 +49 88 There should be an asterisk after Manchester United - they only finished 2nd because they couldn't beat West Ham on the final day. Blackburn having more points over a 42 game season was nothing to do with it.

JHRover Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leicester-wont-lift-premier-league-7844820 I knew they wouldn't allow it. How embarrassing for them if little Leicester get to parade the trophy infront of the United fans.

Surprised the club didn't let them borrow the 94-95 trophy for the occasion
Mattyblue Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Don't get that story? You would only lift the trophy at an away ground if it was the last match of the season. Otherwise it always gets presented at the next (or last) home game.

Oh aye, most people will just assume that if Leicester are confirmed as Champions they should literally lift the trophy that day, ignoring convention.
Rover_Shaun Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36154211 What a bellend. I can imagine someone who can't really afford it regretting betting £50, but 50p?!!! Tit
LewisF Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 It's not as if you're gonna be too worried about losing 50p. Idiot
oldjamfan1 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Like everyone else I'm a bit nonplussed about the punter's thought process, but I'm not sure Ladbrokes have come out of it very well by mocking him unnecessarily. Cheap shot by them I would say. Incidentally I was being driven home from a late meeting last night and the driver had Talksport on. We exchanged a couple of football-related snippets when he suddenly said "Leicester winning the league is the first time anything like this has happened since Forest". I asked him outright why he didn't think Blackburn Rovers was of a similar ilk, and he said "Jack Walker bought them the title". And this was from a Rangers supporter!! He learned a few history lessons in the next 15 minutes.........
VinjayV4 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Its probably called changing your mind about a bet, cashing in and placing the remaining money on something else. Perhaps that was all the money this person had at the time who knows? As for attempting contact what's the point of that? Might not even remember placing the bet and personally if I lost a bet like that (most likely on cheap accumulators if you miss by one as I don't normally check them afterwards) I would rather not know about it!
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 28, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted April 28, 2016 I've never been a fan of cashing out. To me, if you place a bet, then you see it through.
BlueMonday Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 He got giddy with that bet and then got cold feet. His Misses must have noticed 50p missing from the gas metre
JBiz Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Imagine protesting your manager for not winning the league? In the words of Khod, Arsenal fans need to give their heads a wobble.
punerover Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Imagine protesting your manager for not winning the league? In the words of Khod, Arsenal fans need to give their heads a wobble. Imagine what would happen if they missed top 4 this season?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 30, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted April 30, 2016 I understand their anger, I do. But in the bigger picture, Arsenal fans are acting like a set of entitled little bitches.
Backroom DE. Posted April 30, 2016 Author Backroom Posted April 30, 2016 I understand their anger, I do. But in the bigger picture, Arsenal fans are acting like a set of entitled little bitches. I hope Wenger does leave and the whole thing crumbles. If anything they should be protesting the horrendous prices charged by the club, not the manager.
