gumboots Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 If it is Norwich Newcastle and villa I'm wishing for once I was a betting person because I've been saying since Nov or Dec that those 3 were nailed on to be the 3 relegated. Wouldn't have got massive odds but nice
Husky Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I've never seen so many people look so happy in the pissing rain before. Not even at Glasto
chaddyrovers Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 surely its a taxi for Martinez. been embarrassing for Everton today
Husky Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 surely its a taxi for Martinez. It's not his fault. Don't you know Lukaku is the poor man's Jason Roberts.
davulsukur Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 surely its a taxi for Martinez. been embarrassing for Everton today Him being sacked has been on the cards for a while now. They might give him the last game and then part company.
Husky Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Haha. We're not the only ones that can't believe it. From BBC: Leicester 3-1 Everton Posted at 20:39 Danny Simpson, Premier League winner. Unbelievable.
Stuart Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 As pleased as I am for Leicester, I can't help but feel shortchanged watching their owners walk into the pitch for the plaudits from the fans and media ("a modern day football miracle" - you'd think they had done it on a shoe string). Their owner has even inserted himself into the team celebration photo holding the trophy, his brand well and truly on the map. I'm annoyed though on a couple of counts: First, a Thai businessman sticks a pin in a map and pumps loads of money into a random club on the other side of the world and after testing the water with sponsorship puts together a title-winning team. Meanwhile somebody sticks a pin in a group of Indian (so called) business people and buy relegation and destroy a successful town team, and damages their own image in the process - with their sponsorship limited to a few hoardings. You could almost blame fate, if greedy agents hadn't coerced matters. Count two, in contrast, a Blackburn-born self-made man, who made his fortune running a business in the town, and pumped back the money he made into his home town football club. Yet he is vilified - by proxy, by aiming it at Rovers - for "buying the title". I wonder if Jack had been a Thai or Indian businessman if there would be the same reaction. I'm glad we won it, not just because of the pride that it brought us (that the WalkerTrust lost interest in and Venkys have all but erased) but because it is two fingers up to the jealous clubs like Spurs et al. @#/? you very much.
Stuart Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 WTF!! Could you imagine having to stomach watching some serf walking round the pitch with a big picture of the Venkys in robes at the play-off final??
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'm guessing that's the Thai king's portrait. I believe he's very popular as he is seen as a stabilising influence in Thai politics and society which has been very fractious. Or it could be the owner's dad.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I've no problem Leicester getting plaudits aplenty for winning the title, after all no one but 46 fans who supported them placed bets at Ladbrooks for them to do it. I do feel our achievement was as special, and of the 6-teams to now have won the title, 4 have massive fan bases, and massive amounts of money pumped in. Wolves rich owner never managed it, and I do believe a rich local benefactor will not be seen again for some time. We are the forgotten club who won the PL.
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 We were a rising force over the seasons leading up to it, whereas Leicester were a sudden, bizarre shock like coming home from work and finding an anteater on your sofa.

Aye, it's been awhile since there's been an anteater on my sofa, but what memories!
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Lucky you. I had a chimp 2 years ago. Opened the door and got a face full of s--t, and nearly had my arm off.
booth Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 We were a rising force over the seasons leading up to it, whereas Leicester were a sudden, bizarre shock like coming home from work and finding an anteater on your sofa. Looking back it's easy to say we were a rising force, but (and I'm a bit young to remember it, my memory is hazy these days over the Hughes years ffs) I remember us struggling in the old division 2 before Jack took over.

We made the play offs on more than one occasion, and we were an honest well run club
Proudtobeblue&white Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 In the general scheme of things we were the runts of the litter, but Jack allowed Kenny to spend well, but conservatively, and didn't all our "bought" stars go on to leave for profit?
booth Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 We made the play offs on more than one occasion, and we were an honest well run club But we still almost got relegated right, and I remember being extreme underdogs in the play off places under Kenny. The point is that within 4-5 years we went from a small nowhere club to champions of England. Even when we got into the Premier League I remember watching Match of the Day and Hansen saying it was a shame for Leicester because he thought they'd have more chance of staying up than us. No one gave us a chance of staying in the league never mind winning it.

It wasn't that long ago that Leicester were in the third tier.I still think Jack and Rovers deserve a lot more respect than they've had. Venkys tenure has "proven the media doubters right". Another reason to hate them.
donnermeat Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 John terry banned for what is probably his last ever game for Chelsea, wonder if he'll go FKW again? It would be so embarrassing if he did. I bet he does.
Ribble Rover Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 2 decent away games next season, Wigan back up too....
Ricky Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Richie De Laet did a JT yesterday after spending the second half of the season out on loan he collected his premier league winners medal in his full Leicester kit.
arbitro Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 If Sunderland win this midweek and are safe it will really hurt SKY with pretty much everything done and dusted. The only thing they might have left is the 'race' for fourth place. Their last day drama might just be a damp squib.
