Athlete Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Agreed, Koita isn't what we need to support Rhodes and thrive from the space he creates for others in the box. Maybe he still has friends in high places at Villa and can loan the big man back. The same big man who missed an absolute sitter the other day...for me I think we had a good 12 months run out of him...he's now looking out his depth Quote

Stuart Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 The same big man who missed an absolute sitter the other day...for me I think we had a good 12 months run out of him...he's now looking out his depth Could still do a job in the Championship but he may have lost his motivation. He and Rhodes were just beginning to look like a partnership when he went. Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Let's see if we can get a few players in and out before running about like our pubes are on fire screaming "the sky is falling". The squad is mediocre but that may change. Quote

JAL Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 We need 5 players at least, I would say, starting with a new centre forward The question is, how good are the contacts of Lambert and his staff? Presuming the new players are loans, who does he know who will do him a favour? Football managers can live or die by the names in their "little black books". With it being reported that it's going to be loans only is this saying that the owners are only committed for the short term. Quote
47er Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Given the number of players most seem to think we need, let's reflect on the standard of the squad GB assembled shall we? I am on the record, several times, as saying that the squad isn't good enough to achieve anything this season and the managers first priority is to keep us in this division. I'm sticking with that and anything better, like top half, is a bonus. Real fans want every manager to succeed. We gave Bowyer a long time, too long, so lets do the right thing by PL 8 Quote
Rover_Shaun Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 And how many players did 'he' sign again to get us this dog$h1t? 1 Quote

BlueMonday Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 After today's dismal surrender, a third successive game without a goal (and scarcely a clearcut chance), it is only realistic to restart this thread. Under PL there have been streaky wins against struggling Rotherham and 10-man Bristol City and in the last two matches wins for opponents (Reading and Bolton) who have forgotten what it is to win. Although other results were favourable today, there are plenty of other opportunities for the teams below to catch-up and overtake as there are visits to Rotherham and Charlton. allanncd Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Your a glass half empty type of person Al Another abysmal result and performance. I expect this will be longest thread in the next 4 months. Quote
Husky Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 LOL. To think we got within a point or so of a promotion thread. Quote
Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2016 Backroom Posted January 2, 2016 LOL. To think we got within a point or so of a promotion thread. Typical of Bowyer's Boys to be fair. Get close then utterly bottle it. Get rid of as many of these losers as possible, please, before they drag us back into a relegation fight. Quote
BlueMonday Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Another abysmal result and performance. I expect this will be longest thread in the next 4 months. Well lets hope not. Lets see what business we do in this window and say good bye to players who clearly aren't up to it. Quote
JHRover Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Regardless of our own problems at present, there are 5 clubs at the bottom of this league that are really poor. Bolton, Charlton, Rotherham, MK Dons and Bristol City. If any of those finish above us this season then heads need to roll. I've got to agree that our trajectory under Lambert so far appears very similar to that which this group of players frequently demonstrated under Gary Bowyer. Go on a decent unbeaten run, get within 5 points of the top six, get everyone excited and optimistic that a push for the play-offs is possible, then undo all that good work by surrendering to 3 consecutive abject defeats to mediocre opposition. In 3 games running we've barely threatened the oppositions goal. Defeat at Bolton in particular bore many similarities to capitulations against the likes of Rotherham and Doncaster in previous seasons. Bolton were back to business as usual on Saturday when they were well beaten at home by mediocre Huddersfield. A group of players that are either unwilling or unable of taking the game to the opposition and handling the pressure of expectation. They seem to prefer to turn up for games for a kick about with a view to taking home a point rather than ruthlessly taking the 3 points. We need either an attitude change or personnel change to move away from this familiar attitude and inject a nasty winning streak. 3 Quote

And it certainly SHOULD be up to him. They've knocked bids back before so doubt they suddenly don't care, maybe they're finally letting managers make the final call? Quote

The squad is mediocre but that may change. Who exactly do you think is coming? Messi? Pogba? Or Mr. Random 32 year old released by Blackpool who has never shown he can kick a ball straight? Because the latter is who we keep getting over and over again these past few seasons. Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) That is not what I meant or said so stop chatting s--t by quoting Messi. Lambert is not a bad manager and things MAY (AS IN THERE IS A POSSIBILITY) improve. Funny how you only replied after the sale of Rhodes was announced and a month since my post. Backroom Tom Posted January 30, 2016 Backroom Posted January 30, 2016 Charlton Rotherham is a huge game today currently 1-1 Bristol City playing Birmingham as well today in the league Quote
Backroom Tom Posted January 30, 2016 Backroom Posted January 30, 2016 We end the day a point closer to the drop zone with charlton battering Rotherham 4-1 away and Bristol drawing at home to Brum Could have been worse now 5 points above with 20 odd goals better off and 2 games in hand Quote

imy9 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 5 points gap but two games in hand. Context...we would have to lose 4 games in a row and the teams below us to win 2 in a row. possible, but not likely. Quote
