I used to like Dogs and we always had a Sheep Dog when I was a Child. Never bit anyone apart from Sheep! Farmers would knock on the door gun in hand - we had quite a few Dogs and I loved them all.

Living here is a different matter after having been bit 3 times (had all the injections) and twice had dog packs after me. Never turn your back on them although it's a bit of a beggar walking 2 miles backwards after quite a few beers in the dark in a narrow soi.

I don't think I saw any strays in Bangkok. Saw quite a few in Koh Samui but they were all very friendly. I'm guessing because they either had owners or were well fed!

You will not see any on the main roads within Bangkok but even in Silom and Sukhumvit areas if you go into the smaller Sois you will for sure. I live about 1/2 mile into a Sukhumvit Soi and there must be 20 local strays in that patch alone. Most are too knackered by the heat to bother with you in the daytime but night is different. I've been here quite a while and just got unlucky a few times. The dog packs scared me though, rabies is rampant even within Bkk.

In Blackburn, it's the dogs in and around the nightclubs you have to watch out for. Gnarly teeth, bad breath, matted hair, full of aggression and deseases. You can calm them with a bit of kebab meat and if you are very brave, give them a quick petting.

I've seen them - I wouldn't pet them ^_^

There aren't any left!

The 7 year old girl probably went for the dog with some kind of weapon, a piece of wood she found on the floor of the beer garden and sharpened with a penknife to allow her to exact a killing wound on the dog. I bet her parents distracted Gallacher while she attempted this. The dog, oblivious to the attack and likely asleep, will have yawned at the wrong time and accidentally scraped its teeth on the girl's head. I hope the dog's potential teeth injuries are being taken seriously and its received the appropriate medical and psychological care. There's been a spate of attacks on dogs in recent years by young children, babies and toddlers using their head as a weapon, which makes me think they must be sellotaping sharp objects like razor blades to their hair. Its about time children were confined to restricted areas in public, or even stopped from going outside all together. Might seem somewhat extreme but at the end of the day nobody wants to live in a society where millions of dumb animals with a shorter lifespan than my Playstation 2 aren't allowed to wander around parks/streets p*ssing and s***ing everywhere, charging at strangers and barking late at night.

If its only 20 or so dogs in an area and theyre pretty docile during the day then surely it would be an easy enough job for the authorities to round them up and take care of them(rehome the healthy sociable disrase free ones and sadly put to sleep thecdangerous or disease ridden ones)? Then just work through the areas until its not a problem anymore.

Bkk is a strange layout. Not many 'main' road but there are thousands of Sois which are basically quite narrow lanes even in the heart of the City. It's a bloody big City and it makes for a lot of Dogs. I have never seen any sort of organised Dog control. It seems that any controls are on a local basis and not effective, the locals are animal friendly and of course Buddist so hurting an animal is a no go. Just got to be a bit careful.

Thank God for that. We've had 2 labradors and they're the most lovely placid temperament dogs you could wish to have.

This story made me really angry. The dog obviously didn't want to be bothered went under the table to get away and the girl went chasing under the table to pester it.

Then it's Gallagher's fault for not supervising someone else's child whilst the dollops of parents are drinking in the Pub oblivious of what their child is up to.

Unbelievable.

Obviously??

Whilst I can see that being the case, I think you claiming 100% that toour version of events happened despite you not being there and based on you having such dogs and he being a rover

Mmmm

I hope that the real magistrates and judges look for more tangible facts and evidence prior to passing judgement.

Thanks for that patronising reply. It appears the Magistrates did just that and came to roughly the conclusion I did.

How did the child get her injuries?

The child needed plastic surgery, so she was quite seriously injured.

GAV .. do you want a complete ban on dogs so you dont get your arse bitten on your planned pitch protest invasion at Ewood ? .. :D

I like it ...forward thinking ...

No the judge didn't come to your conclusion at all

The statement was

"I do not find the matter proved"

I would hardly say that concurs with your conclusion

That surely is "obvious" to all.

See I really can do patronising

Can't remember last time I saw a police dog at football, certainly wasn't one last time I was on the pitch.

It's a genuine question, how did she get the injuries? The little girl seems to have been forgotten in all of this.
