chaddyrovers Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Lowe should have been taken off at half time for Guthrie. I was pleased with the starting 11 apart from Guthrie not playing. Delfouneso was fairly good second half when he was leading the line and not droping off into the hole when Koita was up front. Apkan was good in centre midfield. can pass forward, tackling and get forward. we have enough chances to score and to win the game and both Hanley and Duffy should have scored a couple of goals tonight. Raya was awful today. we need to STOP conceding in the 1st 10 mins cos it keeps putting us on the back foot. 2 points from 3 games isn't good enough but still very early days yet.

Blue blood Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Some thoughts on the game: 442 an improvement as a formation but very harsh for Barrow to miss out. It's a travesty we didn't win. Mainly because Cardiff were abysmal. They struggled to put 2 passes together, and I'm pretty certain they didn't manage over 3 in the game. Also their defending was weak, they panicked and hoofed it out at the slightest bit of pressure. This season's Blackpool Imo. Game of 2 halves again. First half offered very little, second we increased the pressure as the half went on and deserved an equaliser. If we had done anything constructive the 1st half or been right at them from the start of the 2nd we'd have won as Cardiff offered nothing. Anyone who says Lowe doesn't disrupt attacks is wrong, he disrupted most of ours. I'm no Lowe hater but it was an awful performance. His passing in particular was horrific. Bowyer's love child is an unhelpful term for Lowe. However when GB decides we need more creativity in the middle and brings on Guthrie, yet sacrifices Henley and moves Lowe to rb you have to wonder. Never mind Lowe had been awful , Henley gad looked dangerous going forward. Pathetic favouritism Imo. Apkan impressed. A few lose passes but he gets stuck in and tried to be more constructive with his passing. Raya cost us the goal with his poor passing. Kicking was very hit and miss. No saves to make. Delfyvwhen in the game is excellent. A much better signing than I thought. Problem is he drifts in and out a lot. The manager must work out how to get him more involved. Barrow is a winger not a striker but his pace will cause teams lots of problems. Like Delfy we have to work out how to get the best from him. Positive for GB is the right players came on and the tactical changes worked. Negative that we didn't start till after half time and even then took a while to get going. He has been very, very lucky it has not cost us more points. Plus the favouritism of Lowe was appalling. Overall gutted not to win. Cardiff were as bad as Blackpool last season but a wasted half then a slow start cist us 3 points. I've never seen a team offer so little and it's a damning blot on Bowyer's record we couldn't beat them.
Ricky Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Yet according to Bowyer they'll be in the top 6 at the end of the season!!
joey_big_nose Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The whole playing it out short thing is a total mystery. What was the thinking? We'd slice through them with an incisive Barcelona style carousel...? As far as I can figure out we have one player who can pick up the ball from the keeper, turn and find a pass, that's Guthrie. He wasn't on the pitch. We were passing out to Lowe who'd pass it back again. Totally farcical, made even more as we were playing two up front one of whom - Fode - is massive and screaming to have a punt aimed at his bonce...

Brighton away next so quite likely to be 2 points from 12 on Saturday evening. How long do you give him before saying he should quit ?
roverandout Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Until we have 5 bad results and he changes his mind again when we win one
tomphil Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Get tonked at Brighton and we have a televised home game v Bolton and we know what happens in those if it goes wrong. Mr Bowyer could be in for an uncomfortable night if he and his boys don't pull their fingers out.
broadsword Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Join the push for mid table safety. "We'll do ever so magnificent with a right good go"
pick32 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Highlight are available on SSN spp, just watched them don't know how we didn't score 2/3
Colt Seavers Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Cardiff were very poor tonight; we will face much better than that. I can't see us winning games at all. We are in for a long hard winter slog. I am certain that Bowyer is on borrowed time. I thought Spurr was very slow to react to Raya's pass which lead to their goal. I was unimpressed with the absolute rollicking dished out to the young keeper by Jason Lowe of all people. Talk about the outside urinal calling the pot pi$$ poor!Speaking of Jason; I thought his performance was dreadful. I remember John Bond describing Nicky Reid as a " basic bread and butter player who never learnt anything about the game". This is Lowe(y) to a tee. Reid was far better. Duffy won header after header and Hanley scrapped. Guthrie looks like he has more to give and I would give him and Akpan game time. Can't see Williamson or Evans playing for us again. Tommy ain't good enough and Marcus needs to come back in. Delfounso ran his socks off and I warmed to him. Marshall was boring and Conway was his usual tireless self. He can't half get yellow cards brandished! All in all, we haven't gelled yet and Bowyer needs some wins. Don't see where they will come from. I missed the Wolves game as I was away and I had looked forward to tonight so much. Why do I keep doing that?
G Somerset Rover Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Although it was very poor by Raya, Spurr and Lowe hardly covered themselves in glory for that Cardiff opener.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Although it was very poor by Raya, Spurr and Lowe hardly covered themselves in glory for that Cardiff opener. Thought Spurr was as much to blame as Raya - he just didn't react.
AdamRochina Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Did bowyer really say we only had two players over 24?
philipl Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Tactics were again poor - though I suppose ultimately effective as we went back to the Allardyce era. Hang on, are we in the top half of the Premier League? That was the Allardyce era.
savage90 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Why does the official website never include an MOM in their match report/ match detail or do they? This is particularly annoying when living abroad. It's an interesting fact after any game.
Neal Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I'm not saying this to wind anybody up but... How long is this going to go on for until people start to turn on Bowyer vocally? The majority of the fans want change yet the fan base remains tight lipped. I understand that he's not Steve Ke*n but that's not an excuse for us to accept what we've been watching for the past 2 years. Bowyer Out.

Get rid of Bowyer and we replace him with Craig Short or worse, its a vicious circle. We need to get rid of Venkys, simple as that.
frosty Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Poor result against an awful team. Terrible performance.
Colt Seavers Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I can see Bowyer going sooner than... I think they will bring Dunny back, maybe with Beattie. Not saying I would; just saying what I think might happen.

We need to get rid of Venkys, simple as that. Might be an odd question but I have to ask. Would Short actually be any worse ? It wouldn't take a right lot to be better in terms of selection etc on matchdays.

We need to get rid of Venkys, simple as that. Not quite, Venkys are responsible for pretty much everything but this guy is employed by them to get results and this guy just isn't delivering. I understand your point on emplyoying Short but Surely people are finding it difficult to keep themselves from calling for his removal. If people do start turning against him I'm not going enjoy having to argue with every thicko saying "who are we going to get?"... Makes my blood boil.
thenodrog Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 From Rovers twitter. 3mins - Rovers seeing plenty of the ball early on. 5mins - Goal Cardiff. Not sure weather to laugh or cry. Bit like the weather this summer, although whether you class this as a summer or not is up to you.
Gav Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Might be an odd question but I have to ask. Would Short actually be any worse ? It wouldn't take a right lot to be better in terms of selection etc on matchdays. He's even more of a rookie than Bowyer tomphil, that should answer the question.
tomphil Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Bit like the weather this summer, although whether you class this as a summer or not is up to you. Have you never used a touchscreen Drog ? They are a nightmare for that kind of thing, not that it should really matter anyway.
West Yorks Rover Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Yet according to Bowyer they'll be in the top 6 at the end of the season!! He might no be the dodgepot that Kean was, but his after match interviews are right up there for bullsh*t, in fact I reckon he's starting to out do Coco. This kind of rubbish will not go down well with the fans, even his most ardent backers will see right through it.
